Mr Erickson relayed the story so eloquently. He is cool, calm and collected. I felt that I was listening to it in a trance like state. I thank him for all his life’s work and for the lives he has touched and improved over the years since his time on this planet. It will continue through his books and videos for many years to come. Brilliant!!!

Very good. I've enjoyed all his books and videos for the past 7 years and will keep watching, reading and learning, be unique and be yourself, use his stories and create your own stories as well. Amazing there are so many great videos, what a privilege and an honor we live in this time and can learn from many who are on the other side. Thank You for your experience and your knowledge.

Q: is this a story he made for a patient so as to change their perception or is this in fact what he did for the depressed woman

@@glenmarzz4525 I’m pretty sure this is a real story. Apparently Erickson showed a newspaper clip to hia class reporting on “Milwaukee African Violent Queen Dies... Leaving Thousands Mourning” which is how he heard she was eventually loved by her community

I wonder how long it took him to put the elements in this story together? The stare at 4:19 would be like a jolt to someone in a trance. The way he put emphasis on certain words is sublime. When he says "Demanded" I get the feeling he was dealing with a tough nut.

I feel that we forget that he was not only a master of indirect language but also a master or direct commands, especially in this case of brief therapy. His utilization in this situation is as poetic as his hypnotic wizardry.

Unique exactly, so i think he'd also agree that this method maybe would be for everyone. I am a keen gardener and grow lots of plants, but in 2013 i had the most awful year of my life, i finished college, which was in horticulture and was only a small course, so lasted only 9 months, then my next door neighbor and childhood friend moves to Canada, and i just felt so bad, and i became suspicious of other friendships and whether people still liked me or not because i was always depressed -- I've had it since about 2004 i would say, and i'm 27 now; i couldn't enjoy anything, even holidays. So in 2013 i continued to grow plants which i suppose looking back it did help, but when i felt bad i mean i felt really bad: up worrying at night, crying, siting still in certain places in my house for ages, and it was a hot year and hot weather seems to amplify depression with me. I would go for long walks into town wandering around in the sun, just trying to feel a bit better. I'm still depressed today and anxious, not as bad as back then, but still have it, some days its good, other days not so much. So i completely agree that keeping occupied is very important, and tending to plants helped me and still does, i have a small garden, but i collect trees and have plans to plant them in my local area which hasn't got a lot of trees -- wanting to make my area look nicer by guerrilla gardening gave me a jolt of motivation, and still does.

'Guerilla gardening' ... we could do with more of that around here (in London, England) ... although we do have one bloke who does some - he has planted lovely flowers in a public area out the front for all to see and tends them with loving care. He cannot read or write and I have helped him with small matters of literacy on a number of occasions... and yet he is such a happy fellow with just his missus and we laugh together. I think I could learn a thing or two from him about shutting out the world's problems and finding what you love! My goal is to help others more. Thanks for posting this Spud. You and Milton have made me think...
