Cool repair, but in the demonstration at the end, the saw cuts terribly. I don't know if the chain was on backwards or the honing with the angle grinder didn't work, but I have a cheap saw just like this that can cut almost a perfect plane on the side of the wood being cut and much faster, so something must have been off there I think.

The disadvantage of this saw is that there is no automatic chain oil lubrication. As soon as the chain heats up for the first time, the hardening of the teeth will disappear and it is useless to sharpen further, it is already soft. Oil is essential for the chain, not only to reduce friction, but also for cooling.

Cool repair! It would have been nice to see more about why the motor didn't work. Was there something obvious that I don't see as a non-expert (besides it just being old and dirty/brittle)? Or was it just like, let's take it apart to see if there's anything easy to fix, nope can't tell what's wrong so I replaced it?

one carbonbrush was gone and the rotor was was worn because it was rubbing the brushspring (dont know what to call it in english) a while. Though imo I think the rotor was still usable😉

brush type DC motor has only short time life....maybe less than some 100 hrs... ブラシタイプのDCモータの製品は寿命が数百時間以内です。長期間、長時間使うなら、別のタイプのチェンソーの使用を推奨します。安いチェンソーは刃の耐久性も低いです。歯砥ぎに自信が無かったらポンポン　新しいものと交換して使うのが良いですね。

Now you really need to fix the motor brush and make it work again. Looks like if you bought a brush and cut it down to proper size and clean the contacts on the motor armature, you will have a fixed working motor again...go for it...
