3 Minutes Setting Pole Repair

Maine Guide Lisa DeHart and experienced canoeist Chris Corey were on the St. John River in Maine when Chris broke his setting pole. Here's how he repaired it in the field.

So a" setting" pole is the pole you push a canoe with? The pole being slightly shorter must take a little getting used to. Thanks for the video.

It sure does take some getting used to! A bit like Tarzan having a shorter vine to swing on.

I just broke a pole on the Machias river, got it stuck in a hole and didn't let go, it was a thinner pole nice and light, great for boats without much load in them. I have more and as you say, they grow on trees.
