Derek, it's watching videos like these that make me want to take out a home equity loan to finish my basement into my very own tiki bar. Then stock it with every bottle I can find.

Whoa, that Sonando is out of this world. The grassiness of an unaged cane juice really lifts what could be a heavy drink. Thanks for sharing that recipe--going to be a new favorite.

You sure don't like the regular painkiller cocktail, and I'm here for whatever other variations you share with us 😂

Considering pusser’s rum tastes like you distilled a brown paper bag, any other rum is an upgrade. That stuff is the southern comfort of rums
@JasonBunting2 ай бұрын
@@Louzahsol can confirm - I bought it just to see for myself, and now I have a bottle of rum I'll rarely ever use (unless I can hide it in a drink somehow). I bought it because I had a painkiller made with it in Vegas, and it was good - perhaps it was a lie, but whatever... either way, it's not great.

These sound good, but still stand by my variation - 2 oz Plantation Pineapple rum, 1 oz dry curacao, .5oz lime juice, 4 oz pineapple, 1 oz coco real coconut cream, barspoon allspice dram, 5 drops saline, dust w fresh nutmeg.

0.4 0z Pineapple Juice is very specific and not a usual spec. Is that a typo? If not a typo how are you measuring it? 12 ml in a Graduated cylinder or eyeballing 1/2 oz (minus)

GREAT video ! Fan of the modernized tiki cocktail format. More please. We tried the Sonando and PKNY today. PKNY was fantastic, but the Sonando was the test department’s (wife) favourite. The Lime, Passion fruit, Vanilla and Wrey & Nephews is a magical combo. Highly recommend this.

I'm a Newey in Tiki. I'm really fascinated. One thing in don't understand yet,is all rum varieties. I get it , it's a huge category, but still, I'd love a video about what makes a rum being in one sub- category or other, basically Id like to understand how sub one for other rum , even knowing it's not exactly the same. Great channel, thanks!!

I usually like it with 2oz pineapple juice. 4oz is waayyyy too much for me 2oz Pineapple Juice 1oz coconut creme 1oz Orange Juice 2/3/4 oz Rum (split between whatever rum I fancy) Nutmeg garnish Sometimes angostura bitters for richness My standard way of making it
@blindlemonlipschitz9125 ай бұрын
Love these variations. The painkiller is probably one of my wife's top 3, so it gets played here. I like them, but can only handle 1, because of the sweetness. Also a firm believer that though classic, pusser's is not the best rum for that drink. Always changing it up.

I use OneNote to keep drink recipes in (which I then access via a dedicated Kindle Fire kept at my home 'bar'), and I painstakingly copy them from wherever I can get them. I then rate the ones I've had..... after updating some ratings tonight, I have to mention that the Sonando and PKNY are some of the only to receive a 5 out of 5 rating. The Jet Pilot from your recent video is also stellar. Clearly they've affected me, why else would I be writing comments on a KZbin video?!?! WTF am I doing?

Thanks for the video! Is there any difference between a "Guyanese" rum and a "Demerara" Rum? It would be interesting to try this with El Dorado 5 or 8. At 3/4 an ounce with the mix of other ingredients I wonder if you would even notice a difference.

Nope. Unless I'm mistaken, DDL (demerara distillers Ltd) is the only rum distillery in Guyana.

I don't understand why you fill your glasses with ice before you pour the drink in, you always end up wasting part of the drink because you put too much ice in. Why don't you pour the drink in first and then fill the glass with ice? Makes zero sense.
@makeanddrink5 күн бұрын
You sure you watched the same video that you’re commenting in? 0 waste. Everything from the tin is in the glass. But yeah, if you have no idea how much volume your drink is, how much volume your glass holds, or how to measure ice then you shouldn’t do it the way I’m doing it. When you have a drink with foam you don’t want to add ice on top of the foam. You kill it. Makes a ton of sense.
