Thanks for the love! You're going to have to get over the flying thing. Here in the islands they make fresh coconut cream (slap yo' mama good) that would kick that painkiller up one more notch! Plus, we're down to our last bottle of bourbon, almost out of gin and totally out of luxardo cherries...so we could use a visit from the good ol' USA. Meet you in Tonga?

I wanted you all (Greg and everybody behind the scenes) to know that stumbling onto this episode (and consequentially this channel) was my intro to the world of incredible rums, especially those of the funky Jamaican variety. From the first sniff of my first bottle of Smith and Cross, literally it was as though I used to love it and then got knocked on the head and suffered from amnesia and forgot all about one of my favorite things for a decade or so., and that first sniff brought back all of my cherished memories and wonderful imbibing experiences with it all at once. And for that I thank everybody who brings this content to life.

FWIW, and I can't tell if anybody else corrected it below, but it's pronounce Yoast (like Toast) Van Dyke, not Josst Van Dyke, even though it is spelled Jost Van Dyke. I do like the mispronunciation of Pusser's (not Prusser's) because ef those guys. Soggy Dollar Bar isn't the best bar on that rock, though. That title belongs to Foxy's Tamarind in Great Harbour. Trust me now and believe me later, a funky overproof rum with heavy banana like Wray & Nephew elevates this recipe to greatness. 80 proof silver just gets lost in the pineapple and coconut but overproof holds its own while adding a distinct banana flavor that melds sooo well with the pineapple and coconut. I think y'all got the math wrong on that metric conversion. If the drink is supposed to be 1oz oj, 1oz cream of coconut, 4 oz of pineapple juice and 2oz of rum, then the conversion should be 30ml oj and coconut, 60ml rum and *120* ml pineapple on account of 120 being twice 60. That, or every metric user who ever went to the Soggy Dollar fuckin' LOVES pineapple juice.

Made a Painkiller with Smith & Cross and can attest to its greatness! Also found a squeezeable cream of coconut product that worked very nicely, “Simply Squeeze Coco Reàl”. Terrible name, but great results.

Someone mentioned a lovecraftian drink. I suggested a dark & stormy with a twist of something toxic and tasty. What's your solution? Edit: i subscribed. You rock.

Dark and stormy with a float of a bitter herbal liqueur? Kinda like a Harvey Wallbanger

@@kster809 I would want something with dark rum, squid ink and/or Absinthe. What is more lovecraftian than a pitch black salty sea-tasting squid drink, and what is more lovecraftian than a mysterious deep green herbal drink that allegedly makes you see strange creatures and cut off your own body parts? :P (Disclaimer: no shade to Absinthe, the Absinthe scare was a mix of fabrication and alcohol poisoning and not the wormwood itself, and Van Gogh didn't cut off his whole ear. But still)

Also, there's a drink called the Bob Hope (or at least, thats the name I know it by) that I've modified. 1 1/2 oz Malibu (or your preferred coconut rum) 3/4 oz of Blue Curacao 2 oz Pineapple Juice 1 oz Cream Mix equal parts Blue Curacao and water in a separate cup. Nothing fancy, I usually just swirl them together in a plastic cup and set it to the side. Then, shake your coconut rum, pineapple juice, and cream over ice. Pretty sure if you use Coconut Creme it'd be better, but I work at a dive bar so we don't get that fancy. Pour into a chilled coup glass (or don't. I don't judge that much) and carefully layer your watered down Curacao mix over the back of a bar spoon. Then watch as it slowly filters down anyway, say "screw it," and drink it anyway.

Being from the V.I. it's nice to see so much love for this drink! Just remember when visiting, yeah, alcohol is poured with a heavy hand. Pace yourself. But, we'd be glad to have you! And.... say "Jost" as "Yost", dutch name. Jost is part of the British side of the V.I. and is an island without ferry connection, so yeah, you need to catch a charter boat there whenever they reopen their borders to Americans. If you haven't covered a bushwacker, try it. It's another down here drink that's pretty potent.
