Hey Mattia, great video! If I'm being honest I love watching your mind work in action. So, if you could make more videos of you creating a full piece I would love it, even if it's more long form content.

Thank you for sharing this was so informative, I would love for there to be a plugin that can not just position instruments in a space with an IR but to have an algorithm that can blend the sounds of multiple sources sampled or live recorded and the mics pick up the sounds within the space like a real recording

Very helpful video. I was wondering if you have a tutorial that explains, what type of orchestra instruments to use on certain verses. I am very interested in learning about composing scores for games. Would you ever contemplate making a tutorial on making a very basic orchestra score for beginners. Great vdo and subscribing. Thank you. I just started learning about orchestration.

Thank you! I tried to write mod-wheel curves same as many educators on youtube, but it sounded just awful so I had to stick with more flatter lines, but I never understood why it's working for them but not working for me!

Please, I'd like to know at 9:18 what shortcut you were using to offset the whole automation curve without changing the dynamic ?? I can only compress or expand the curves when I select all automation nodes.
@MattiaChiappa2 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s simple. If you drag up or down by clicking on the nodes it compresses the curve but by doing the same and clicking in between nodes instead, it moves the whole curve keeping the same shape

Awesome! It seems like Spitfire libraries are almost intended to be used with at least two faders.

Hello! Great video! Lately, I've been having trouble making mi midi strings (and woodwinds for that matter) sound natural and realistic. This helps. I was wondering if u could elaborate more on when it is important for midi notes to overlap or not? Thank you for your dedication and help. Cheers from Argentina.
@MattiaChiappa2 жыл бұрын
If there’s isn’t an overlap in theory that signifies a bow change or a re-tongue. I wouldn’t overthink it though, even with notation where the placement of a slur is much much more important, players will make changes to adapt the music and make it more idiomatic for their instrument. I don’t have a rule for where to apply a slur on a musical phrase because it depends on the phrase, but a starting point could be try separating downbeats or the beginning of a bar. My best advice is to use your ears and use a little separation if you want a slight accent. That said though it’s always going to be an approximation so don’t overthink it as lots of times it might be more appropriate to perform a long phrase in one breath or one bow even if that’s in theory non realistic. Don’t worry about it too much!

@@MattiaChiappa Thank you Mattia for taking the time to answer. I'll follow your advice. Use my ears and try to make it natural without overthinking it too much. I appreciate your answer. Cheers.

Thanks for this, Mattia! I had a quick question regarding CSS. I’ve got the solo strings but there seems to be a strange bug in it where, in legato, notes are missed out when playing faster passages. Is this something you’ve ever encountered? Thank you!!!
@MattiaChiappa Жыл бұрын
On occasion. For faster passages I’d recommend using the marcato legato patch

Hi Mattia, thanks for your tutorials.They are very inspiring for me. I have a question about double,triple and quadruple stops with stringed instruments. How do you achieve believable results with sample libraries. I find it a very difficult thing to achieve:-( Thanks a lot! Regards Bob:-)

Hi Bob, thanks good question. I’m afraid I don’t have an immediate answer. I never had this necessity myself but let’s see maybe someone else can help you. Actually I’d be interested to know more about this myself

@@MattiaChiappa Thanks for your answer. I will also ask other mockup "specialists". So far I am not getting very convincing results with marcato or sforzato patches. Maybe layering with a solo patch (Joshua Bell or similar) could work. Cheers:-)

Hi Mattia. I'm sure that most who watch your channel think they have a great short piece for a TV show or a movie. Me too...hah! Can you recommend a way for us to 'put a short composition out there' for exposure to amazing composers/arrangers like you, who have connections? I'm sure i'm dreaming, but hey, why not :-)
@MattiaChiappa2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, I should be the last person to give carrier advice but I can tell you what worked for me so far. Submitting to production libraries is a good way to start. There’s a big learning curve, lots of rejections and unless you’re lucky I would consider any money an optional. It’s real experience though and it will teach you a lot about getting your music up to professional standards, what the trends are and how to find your place in such a big market. For building contacts, I’d say use social media. KZbin for me made a massive difference and slowly but surely introduced me to lots of different people some of which I now consider friends and truly enjoy working with. No doubt it’s a massive grind but I 100% guarantee it’s worth anybody’s time. There’s no shortcut my friend and I’m still learning things myself but persistence is key and with time you’ll slowly work your way in.

Ho sbagliato? Come faresti?
@MattiaChiappa2 жыл бұрын
Mmm non saprei, non mi sono mai trovato in questa situazione. Ottengo risultati migliori con dinamiche diverse per ogni strumento. I’m not sure, I was never in this situation myself. I get much better results with different dynamics for each instrument
@FranzFMusic2 жыл бұрын

I use an external cc controller that’s has some faders assigned to different parameters (modulation, expression, vibrato, etc) It’s quite old, I’m not sure whether it’s still for sale, its called Jb cooper fadermaster pro
