Here is what you'll need to make 3 Mouthwatering Bhorta Recipes
Bhorta #1 Ingredients:
1 cup masoor dal (washed)
1½ cups water
15-20 pcs dry red chilli
2-3 garlic cloves
6 pcs red chilli (roasted)
½ tsp salt
3 tbsp onion (thinly sliced)
2 tbsp mustard oil
2 tbsp coriander (chopped)
2 green chilli (sauteed)
Bhorta #1 Instructions:
1. Pour 1 cup of washed masoor dal into a pan and add water.
2. Mix and cook until water evaporates completely.
3. In a separate pan add dry red chilli, garlic cloves and stir well.
4. Place the dry red chilli onto a plate and add salt to taste.
5. Crush the red chilli, add onions and mix together well (ideally using hand).
6. Add mustard oil into the red chilli mixture, and mix the masoor dal and red chilli mixture together.
7. Add coriander and mix together well.
8. Crush 2 green chillies and add into the bhorta - mix all ingredients thoroughly.
9. Roll the bhorta into small round balls and then your bhorta is ready!
Bhorta #2 Ingredients:
½ pound broccoli
7 red chilli (roasted)
salt
3 tbsp onion (thinly sliced)
1½ tbsp mustard oil
2 tbsp coriander (chopped)
½ tsp cajun seasoning
Bhorta #2 Instructions:
1. In a pan, boil broccoli until soft.
2. Cut the broccoli into smaller pieces and place on a plate.
3. Place red chilli onto a plate, add salt on top and crush the chilli with your hand/fingers.
4. Add the onions to the crushed chilli and mix together well.
5. Add mustard oil into the crushed chill mixture, then mix the broccoli and chilli mixture together very well.
6. Add coriander and sprinkle cajun seasoning - keep mixing well.
7. Roll the bhorta into small round balls and your bhorta is ready to enjoy!
Bhorta #3 Ingredients:
2 cups kathaler bichi/ jackfruit seed
5 pcs shrimp
2-3 garlic cloves (sauteed)
5-6 red chilli (roasted)
½ tsp salt
3-4 tbsp onion (thinly sliced)
1½ tbsp mustard oil
1½ tbsp coriander (chopped)
Bhorta #3 Instructions:
1. Place kathaler bichi/ jackfruit seed in a pan, and toast until charred and soft (10-12 mins).
2. Let it cool.
3. Peel off the outside layer/skin of the jackfruit seed and throw it away.
4. Using a mortar and pestle, crush the jackfruit seeds very well.
5. Remove the crushed jackfruit seed from the mortar and pestle (place on plate etc.)
5. In a separate pan, drizzle cooking oil and cook 5 shrimps.
6. Peel off the skin/shell of the shrimps and place them in the mortar and pestle - crush well.
7. After some crushing, add garlic cloves and crush them too - mix together well.
8. Place red chilli onto a plate, add salt on top and crush the chilli with your hand/fingers.
9. Add the onions to the crushed chilli and mix together well.
10. Add mustard oil, and then mix everything together (shrimp mixture, jackfruit seed and red chilli mixture).
11. Add coriander and mix together thoroughly.
12. Roll the bhorta into small round balls.
13. Ready to enjoy!
