Hey Cas. Loving your videos and am really looking forward to the Get Organized series. When I click on the link it gives me a privacy warning. Is anyone else having this issue or is it because I'm in Australia. I tried it from Dawn's site as well, with the same result. Any suggestions would be helpful. Keep up the fun videos. May I suggest that you have a display box made for Miss Polly? You can put her on the wall somewhere, and she will have a home. She's memorabilia. Have a certificate made for her telling of her honored retirement, faithful daycare service, and so on.

We tend to fix up our homes to sell yet we've lived in them for years as they are. We should do our upgrades as though we're selling & enjoy it. My friend & her husband have done many upgrades to sell then always change their mind. I think it's bc they get to reap those rewards.

0:12 Hi Cassandra, My name is Merrawyn - living and working on the Gold Coast and I will be 74 in late June😱😱😱. Where has my life gone!!! I need to do things smarter and easier now that I am in the “over the hill” mob. Feeling terrified to be honest. I have completed your 30 day boot camp and getting closer to liking my spaces around the place. Amazon , Silly Sollys (similar to Dollar Tree), TKMax & Bunnings (similar to Home Depot) have been my go-to for getting things organised. I need to do things smarter & easier to manage house keeping and cleaning. I so love some of the gadgets being used on the KZbin vlogs & I daily watch folk like Clutterbug, Minimal Mum Dawn & her sister Diana & Ashley from Til Vacuum Do Us Part to name just a tiny few. Thank you for your inspiration and encouragement & also teaching us how to let go of things that clutter our lives. Love and blessings Ⓜ️❤️🤗 Merrawyn

I feel this about the big house thing. We bought one 3 years ago that marked all the boxes - 5 bedroom + office & exercise room. 1/2 acre with pool. No HOA… it definitely is a mixed blessing. Glad to have the space, but so much to do. And we live in the desert so there is less to do here than in more humid environments. Basically we are slowly getting rid of stuff and enjoying the wide open space which is also awesome.
@elainecole68963 жыл бұрын
I have a drawer for random stuff, if it gets full then I know I need to find a permanent home for some of the stuff!! 😅. I'd put Miss Polly in my memory box, as she is a good memory reminder for you, the random storage seems a bit disrespectful (lol!) 😜

*sigh*.... I was in the middle of typing, when it went to the next video in this playlist.... and I don't remember everything I had written.... anyway... I don't have a command centre, nor a landing zone.... and my whole house is a "place for the random stuff".... Thank you for the tips. =) Good luck on the search for the perfect new home..... Yeah, I often think about that sort of thing.... I'm doing a terrible job at "keeping this house.... more space would just make it harder.... but I don't want to downsize either..... it's a good reminder that my current home is what I want. (but maybe a renovation or change of some sort, would be good).

I loved the house searching story. It's good to know what we are really capable of and willing to do. You are a busy lady, you need a home that takes care of itself. I used to dream of a huge house (the house i grew up in was tiny). I said to mum 'when i grow up, i want a house with 20 rooms!' She said, 'and a mess in every one of them!' Fast forward, my home has 10 rooms and is mostly tidy. What she said stayed with me. I have been decluttering now for years, and the less stuff the less mess.

Hey, great tips, I literally could not agree more with you on all 3 systems. It's sanity saving and so simple yet life altering and not something my mother taught me but something I learned from you! And something else......I live on just under 1 acre of Land in an almost 4000 sqft house....I am a stay at home mom to my 3 kids, we have a dog and 2 bunnies and my elderly mother also lives here.....you made the smartest decision in the world to consider "the work" of caring for a large space. I just know that when i move...after living in a massive and old house in the woods...my main priority will be figuring what will maintenence will be involved and how many plumbing/electrical/structural/flooding/draftiness/hvac issues are going to be a part of my daily life on top of people places things dishes and laundry! Too much for one woman only because I just don't even wanna deal with it all!!!

I am soo HAPPY for you and your family that you feel able to look for a new home! If I may put in my 2 cents, don't feel committed to finishing all your projects to making the home perfect for selling. As long as the house is in decent shape, and no structural defects, chances are you will find a buyer soon enough. Don't invest too much into fixing superficial stuff up, your buyers will likely change it up for their own anyways. We are a military family and have to sell/buy every 2 to 3 years 😱. I have learned not to invest too much on the selling end, you will want to save that cash for personalizing your new home. ❤️❤️ Good luck!!

While I have watched most of my friend group move from the neighborhood, their home-selling fix-ups had me inspired to do my own fix-ups. I spent all last year fixing big, fixing small, and painting. We have done a lot of living in 10 years with 5 children in this house. Yes, I want a bigger house with a yard. But I am trying to teach myself and my children to want what you have. Sometimes better organization, a new floor and painted walls can go a long way in happier space living. One of my favorite projects was painting my storage room/ laundry room floor. Besides brightening the basement space, it is cleaner underfoot. So when laundry soap spills, I can actually clean it up instead of scrubbing unfinished concrete. About inter-locking brick pavers.... That is what vinegar is for...spray on vinegar to keep it weed free. You dont have to hand weed. There are short cuts to weeding. Although I appreciate someone actually realizing the work necessary for a beautiful property, I dislike your passing on something because of flower beds and brick pavers upkeep. There. That's all I want to say. If I type any more, I will need my own blog post.
@Zabigdog3 жыл бұрын
This is very refreshing and encouraging. Thanks. ❤️ I've done a lot of property caretaking for people with big beautiful places and have learned that even if you can afford to pay other people to do all that extra work, you end up having to manage all the workers...and you lose a lot of privacy.

I have had the same eureka moment looking for a new house online. We live in a house we built almost 40 years ago, and although I would like to move closer to my daughter to be able to help her more with babysitting and such, when I look at some of the houses, I realize they are not realistic for my season of life. Some are too elegant for my very casual lifestyle. Some would just make my workload bigger. You are wise to have discovered this at your young age. You will find the perfect place if you are patient. Thanks for your bright cheeriness this morning!

Looking forward to your upcoming series!! We are planning to move when hubby retires in a little over 4 years. We just started doing those little things to prepare the house for sale and I've been looking at everything we own thinking "Do I want to pack this, pay for it to be moved, unpack it and find a spot for it?" Plenty of stuff being donated and lots of little projects getting done! :) I agree with another comment here. Miss Polly needs a place on display where you see her and smile. I saw your smile when you got her out, so why banish her into a cabinet of things that have no home? She deserves a home. :)

I have come back to this video several times as I have been reworking my landing zone. It is almost complete. So I’m moving on now to the Command Center. Just letting you know that I’m a 75 yr old widow. We never outgrow the need of keeping it all together no matter how old we are and especially if we live alone. Thank you for the common sense of it all. Your audience really is broad and not just for young families. 🥰

You were thinking wise thought regarding owning multiple acres of land!!! We inherited the slightly less than 50 acre family farm my Dear Husband grew up on just over 3 years ago. Owning more than a half acre suburban yard is easily a full-time occupation, and any more than a few acres can often be as demanding as a baby with colic screaming for immediate attention, occasionally 24/7 for periods of time. Owning multiple acres of the good earth is indead a blessing and a labor of love, but a lot of labor none the less. BTW: "Leasurely Country Living" is a faux concept created by real estate agents!!! I love that You still have Miss Polly!!! 💗 I still have Hoofy, an odd looking stuffed horse that sits upright on his little tailess Hoofie butt. Hoofy has almost no hair left, one if his felt ears is mostly MIA, his button eyes have been sewn back on a few times, and his head partially sew back on once. I got Hoofie for my birthday/Easter when I was three years old, and I am 62 now, so Hoofy has earned his battle scars. Hoofy has been loved on a LOT, and even fell out of a car window at 50 MPH on a mountain road in Venezuela, ... but that's another story. I will never give up my Hoofy❣ Tell Polly Hoofy said "Hi". 😂

I agree with you Cass. A larger home with a larger lot means = more to clean, more to weed, more to mow, more to heat and more to cool. $$$$$$ It's probably why people who live like that have maids and gardeners. I ain't got that kind of money to waste. xD

We had the same thing happen with our house. Our old place had a beautiful mature garden that the previous owner put in (she was retired and gardening was her hobby). We didn't realize how much work that was (never owned a house before) and we severely underestimated our own motivation to keep up with outdoor chores. When we moved, we specifically looked for a house that had minimal landscaping requirements. Much better. =D

I'd love to move too - I wound down my childminding business with the longer term plan of moving house in mind, did a big declutter, had it valued, and then couldn't fine anything we liked enough to leap. It also feels like the list of jobs we need to finish will never end - but I keep telling myself "good things come to those who wait". Having spare money and not excessive amounts of house is a great idea.

Fun fact: In Germany, you usually buy ONE house in your life and it's the one you're having forever. This whole "first house thing" sounds kind of strange to German ears, because you are going to pay your entire life for the house you've got, so you need to know pretty safely, that this is "your forever house". Maybe that helps you to love the things about your actual house more you used to fall in love with at the time you bought it. Just keep improving the corners you don't like that much and as you mentioned: Will you be willing to take care of an even bigger house, especially by the time the kids are moving out? --- Thank you for all the information and motivation you are spreading!

I’m months late but I really needed this. I’m slowly but surely getting my garage organized. Bins and shelves can be pricey but I’m getting it done because I want everything to be uniform. I needed to find a system for paper. I’m going to create one now.

I’m with you on the moving issue. I want to move but it’s cheap and I think even a complete renovation would be cheaper than moving. It’s just my youngest and myself though so we use maybe half of it lol

Dang girl you are like on fire with all of your creative juices flowing! Hey I would really love to see a video of how to live with & tons of ideas for living with hidden & visual bugs. Like you said I feel anxious when I see all the stuff out (Cricket) & my husband gets anxious if he can't see everything (Bee). Also how do you create a drop zone for a Bee with valuables such as watches, keys, & wallets? I think many people would benefit from this, I know I sure would. :-)

I love your outfit. Navy is one of my favorites. You made the right choice in not wanting a lot of work in a new house. Find one that has all the things you want, but low maintenance. You are a very busy, awesome, inspiring, successful KZbinr!
