My favorite was the fire ball trick -- I've always liked that trick. An educator called himself the "Astro Wizard" perform an explanation of solar flares with the "fireball" in a live children's program on the sun... So I already knew how the trick was done, but it never gets old. Thanks for the magic, and BTW: this video was especially good!!!

Flash cotton and flash paper are treated with nitric acid. The nitric acid eats all the ash away so once lit, there is no residue and the material burns really fast. This nitration process produces nitrocellulose, also known as gun cotton. It's also a precursor to making ammunition and high explosives.
