I love how at 56:30 you describe the Book of Mormon as a handbook of how to survive in troubled times. With so many connections to the temple and temple ceremony throughout the Book of Mormon the evidence shows that temple understanding and attendance will prepare us too website the troubled times we face. Great lesson Tyler!

We must KNOW in order to DO we must DO in order to BECOME like Christ. In other words, we need to know God's will, his work, his message in order to DO those things. Without that knowledge, how can we Do his work. Once we have that knowledge and Do his work then leads us to Becoming more like Christ.

I love the parable of the grape vine, even on the entrance of the Winter Quarters Temple. The vine. Jesus Christ The wards are the bunches of grapes. The family The branches. The growth and the early producers of fruit The pruning. Cutting to continue to produce new fruit. Changing leadership. Non exist without the vine.

Thank you for this reminder that we can survive tumultuous times by focusing on Christ (being "of" him) and acting as a faith-based community (being "even as I am"). The next 10 days here in the US will test that as well as the aftermath of the election.

Thank you for all you have shared, means a lot! I do like following your teachings of the Book of Mormon. When my daughter chose to be a member from a different church, I was very sad that I couldn’t sleep at night. When you found something good you would want to share it with your loved ones, besides, she is my only daughter. Through my discomfort I had to share it with my ministering brother and his wife, they lovingly advice me to let it go and to respect my daughter’s choices. During my prayers at night there were powerful scriptures high lighted…the two great commandments brought me peace and strengthened me for what is happening is His will not mine to be done. Thanks for your clarification of the BOM teachings!

I think that putting your second definition of "of" is also very effective to apply to the first "of" in the name of the church. Not only do we belong to Christ, but we are also filled with Christ. 😃

That was then this is NOW. When I served my mission in Argentina, many years ago, we said la iglesia de jesu cristo De los Santos de los últimos días. There’s a reason President Nelson said now. Because the Lord told him. Most people don’t realize we believe in a Christ. My own mother had no idea til I told her the real name. It changed her mind when I called it church of Jesus Christ. She said she had no idea. So timing is now because the Lord told President Nelson.

I agree. Many don’t understand that Christ is the one who makes the decisions for the church. I remember a talk by Gordon B Hinckley about being a “mormon.” He asked what does that mean? Maybe it means more good. I could tell that we were being prepared to state exactly whose church it is by using the correct name. Great comment, thank you.

Thank your for sharing your thoughts, Bro Griffin. I would just like to add that I cross-reference the name of the Church with Jesus Christ's intercessory prayer (oneness with Him and with Heavenly Father), to 3 Nephi 22:5 (He is the husband to His Church), and to Revelation 7 starting from verse 9 (where He will present His people to Heavenly Father). I think I can still find more. All truths circumscribe into one great whole.

Good question. We are designated by the church as a trusted independent advocate organization. One of only a few. While we are independent, we strive to align ourselves with the prophet and the Church. We communicate directly with church workers and leaders to ensure we are helping to build the kingdom in positive ways. Hopefully this explanation helps offer some clarity. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to follow the Spirit in deciding what content they consume. :)

Where can I find the image of Christ reaching out?

I think it would be beneficial to examine and discuss whether the gospel and doctrine taught by Jesus himself matches up with the doctrine and gospel taught by the church. Can the teachings of The Church be reconciled to the teachings of Jesus found in not only 3 Nephi 27 but also in 3 Nephi 11? It appears to me The Church has added additional doctrine and "gospel" teachings to the plain and simple truths Jesus teaches, which he says not to do.

In 4th Nephi, when documenting the years of peace and prosperity why do they skip the enumeration of the years that are multiples of 10?

Enjoyed this presentation, as always. I do have a question. It is my understanding that the 12 men who were called in the new world to be church leaders were not apostles. The original members of the first Quorum of the Twelve--or most of them---were still alive in Palestine. The Book of Mormon does not identify the American twelve as apostles at any time. In every instance they are called "disciples," and although they are given the authority to administer in the ordinances of the church, there is no suggestion that they are equal in authority to the Twelve Apostles still in Israel. It might be useful to revisit the parts of the discussion where the American twelve were identified as apostles and correct that designation to disciples instead. I believe there's an important difference.

Tyler you made mentioned that the name of the church in D and C 115:4 was 8 yrs. and 6 days after its birthday of April 6, 1830-I think that is what I heard and maybe a misstatement. Should it not be 8 years and 20 days? I just want to double check on what I thought I heard and accuracy as well.
@terrym57862 ай бұрын
Do you know why President Hinckley and then Elder Nelson disagreed on our using the name Mormon? Elder Nelson gave a general conference talk stressing our using the correct name. Six months later, President Hinckley gave a talk that disagreed with him. Wondering why.

The Spanish/Italian diety ‘Jesus’ is a construct of the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic. He was neither Greek nor Roman nor English. He was Jewish and his name Is Yeshua which correctly translated into English is Joshua. The name of the Jewish sect with which he was associated was “The Nazarene Sect of the Way. Grow up.
