Thx for the thorough review! I always look forward to your vids. Hard to say in a sea of Outlands haters, but In a moment of insane perfume addiction, I was one of those that blind bought Outlands in the 1st week. I heard Patchouli and hit buy. May be my craziest blind buy? It’s A big surprise. Still working out my thoughts on it. Glad to have heard yours!

Thank you Brian! Outlands does seem to be the most popular of the 3. The patchouli is quite modern glossy type thing. Unfortunately not for me at all. That's quite a pricey blindbuy indeed. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers!

Sounds like this is something one needs to test with a sample. I can see this as making a good impression in the store but longer term wear will net a different impression. I don't get the blindbuy thing but it is a real phenomenon lol. Renaud has succeeded in shifting Amouage to a new breed of customers. I've heard from a retailer friend that the brand is selling well especially the hyped scents.

I just saw a first impressions video from another reviewer (new to me) and that guy already has 200 plus comments. Insane. But I guess it's a different audience. Amouage even posted a thank you message on his first impressions.

Absolutely, these don't smell premium at all, especially Outlands which just went off a cliff and ended up smelling like a cheap designer. Infact since this video, the little intrigue I had with the aging effect has also waned off. The dry, musty, woody effect comes across muddled. It's a very commercial.. luxury.. tiktok.. hype kinda brand now. And this is coming from someone who didn't mind Jubilation 40 and Guidance. They certainly have a huge following which just shows people like us are in the minority.

I’ve been wanting to buy the sample set but $50 for 3 samples instead of $30 😤. Might just wait till it shows up in stores. Nice review as always!

Yeah, the sample set price is appalling. Thought I will give it away to someone else who is interested after testing. Otherwise wouldn't have bought it. Thank you!

@ luckily I live not too far from the ridiculous American Dream mall, home to the one and only free standing Amouage boutique in the U.S. I imagine they will get them in soon if not already so I can test next time I feel like going there.

Thanks for a thorough review! The challenge for Amouage, it seems to me, is convincing people of this special process when none of the end users has any way to know how the aging or wood chips affected the result. Clearly there is a market since Outlands sold out quickly, but there will always be excited first adopters who will blind buy etc. Given the negative reception these received and now having heard several reviewers I trust come in with middling reviews, I have my doubts about the ultimate success of this experiment. I'm going to ScentXplore in NY in a couple of weeks and the welcome bag contains the Essences sample set, so I will soon see for myself. (I was not about to pay $50 for three 1.5ml samples from the website!).

Thank you Dave! yeah, exactly.. what's the point of all this exercise if it really doesn't elevate the wearing experience. Nobody is going to smell these on test strips all day like perfumers. I hope this is a one off too as the results aren't great. The worst part is this might influence other brands. Let's see if they'll double down or take a different route.

Hello Pradeep, thanks for your review. I was so looking forward to your review as I trust your nose and our tastes do overlap quite a lot. I am not surprised that the Duchaufour’s one is the most appealing. It was the only one I was interested in as I do not like Rasquinet’s style and Outland sounded like the gooey diabetic Vanilla / Ambery stuff that is currently trending.

Hi Sandra👋🏻 Thanks! Yes, Duchafour's was the one I found had some interesting elements. Rasquinet's was Lackluster and Cecile's is just like another one of her sugary candied concoctions. Overall an underwhelming collection as speculated

I agree with you, and can’t stand Outlands. It’s messy and confused. I prefer lustre of the 3, but I don’t actually like any of them. Seems a waste of a good marketing push to launch these to spearhead a new aged collection.

Exactly, Outlands is pretty bad..Don't really like any of them either. Maybe it's just a way to bring in more exclusivity oriented clientele
