Great content as always. Going to try the app out. This is definitely one of the best channels for youth coaches.

Coach- just throw strikes Pitcher- no shit, what do you think I'm trying to do?
@BaerTheBlader4 ай бұрын
They might be trying to paint the corners, throw a breaking ball, fire it past the batter, or trying to get the batter to chase something out of the zone. Good pitchers do not “just throw strikes”. If a coach is telling a pitcher to “just throw strikes”, what they are saying is to stop worrying about winning the at bat, and focus on command. Get the ball in the strike zone even if you are throwing meatballs and trust your defense to get you out of the inning, because what you are doing is not working and at this rate you are walking too many batters.

I loved this video. Get your butt down is my biggest pet peeve. I'm like no, get it up and get your chest down. The get in front of the ball bothers me too when coach says "No backhands." I'm like, an infielder who can't use a backhand is an outfielder..or will be shortly 😂

For those of us who knew what we were talking about, saying get your butt down was only one part of the correcting process for those kids who fielded a groundball with straight legs.
@DominateTheDiamond4 ай бұрын
agreed ... you want to make sure they are keeping their hands out in front of their bodies when they are fielding, so making sure they have a flat back is key.

My biggest no-no is anything that takes more than 6 words to say! Kids don't need a mid-game lecture!

I've always hated the "keep your elbow up. It makes for an awkward swing.

I don’t know what kind of pro kids your coaching but the kids I’ve seen when they are told to have a flat back they bend at the waist instead of their knees. I show butt down bending at the knee then into a flat back position with hands out front to field.

No matter what you say you still need to follow up and demonstrate what you want. You can say anything it doesn’t matter just show them how you want it done.

agreed! Keep communicating and helping them understand.

Also, coaches teach movements not functions. Stop teaching the way the movement is supposed to LOOK. All the techniques are supposed to improve fluidity, accuracy and strength. If you try to hit a ball hard, your batting average sinks. My swing always does better when I focus on how it feels, rather than how hard I swing. The best hits in a game always feel the same, effortless. Approach the tenchinques through natural movements and increase in how effortlessly you can hit a ball with your best ev

Every single play coaching. More than one adjustment at a time. An athlete is a sculpture - it's just a block at the beginning. Don't look for perfection, just improvement.

"Charge the ball" is confusing. But "move through the ball" is totally clear. Umm..ok
@DominateTheDiamond4 ай бұрын
yes you want your players to move through the ball. Many times when players hear CHARGE IT, they sprint- but if when you say CHARGE it they move through it thats perfect!
@rudivanrooijen76114 ай бұрын
@@DominateTheDiamondYou did not get the point that your ' move through the ball' are just words that need elaboration/explanation as well ? As a coach you don't just talk right ? You show the objectives, show them footage of how its done by pros, etc.
