I watch and love your wonderful teaching methods. Thank you for doing great free videos for those of us who cannot pay. This is my first comment but wanted to tell you how much these have meant to me as I am just learning w/c. Previously have used acrylics. I love birds and your bird paintings are so beautiful. I especially appreciated your telling about how you used to be so determined to get every detail perfect - and you do that so well!- but have come to a place of wanting to be loose in your approach and those paintings I just love. You are a true nature lover and a great inspiration to me, now 76 years old. Thanks so much.

I, too, have never had these techniques explained in detail. I have been using too wet a brush to soften edges and then I wonder why I get the bleed. Louise, I just want to take a moment to express my gratitude for all of the time and energy you so graciously share with us. My creative endeavours, over the past 60 years, have taken flight in many different directions from the needle works, bead/wire and jewelry metalsmithing, fashion design/sewing and Tole/canvas Acrylic and Oil painting. Now, Thanks to KZbin, I have found another way of creative expression. While searching for a style that suits my taste, I have viewed dozens of videos presented by many talented Watercolourists, like yourself. From the first of your videos I viewed, it was clear to me that I found my style. Since then, I've been binge watching your videos, purchased the tools and supplies needed and am ready to jump in. However, before I select a Tutorial to purchase on Patreon or Skill Share, I would like to seek your advice on which of your Tutorials I should begin with. I do recognize that beginning with your Chrysanthemum or a complex Rose may be a mistake for a beginner. So, I will begin with a lot of practice on the basics from paper stretching to shapes, shading, color blending, water control and proper brush strokes. So, if you would be so kind, which of your Tutorials would be best suited for a beginner once I'm ready to commit to a full painting? Thank you, in advance, for your suggestion.🙂🎨
@LouiseDeMasi4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eva, You've been leading a wonderfully creative life by the sounds of it and I'm glad our paths have crossed. I think once you're ready to begin the simplest class I have is the Dragonfly tutorial on Patreon. That will get you painting wet on wet, some loose areas and some areas where you'll paint with more control. It's a fun tutorial that isn't too difficult. Then I'd move onto the Eucalyptus leaves on Patreon which is all about glazing colours and working wet on dry. It will give you a lot of brush control practice but if you've been painting in acrylic and oils I think you may have brush control already. Those are the two I would start with. Thank you!
@evawinters89324 жыл бұрын
@@LouiseDeMasi Thank you, Louise for your thoughtful reply. I will do just that and, hopefully, I'll share my good results with you. I so admire and respect your talent and teaching style, so calm, methodical. And, yes, my creative nature began to show, my Mother tells, as a 3 year old. Since I wasn't able to completely verbalize what I wanted, I would bring my Dollie to her with some of her fabric scraps and tried to express just what fashion I wanted for my Dollie. During my life, while child rearing, I designed and sewed fashions for my real life Dollies. Oh the compliments from some of the Church Ladies and wanting me to sew for their children. What fun! So, at this late stage of my life, I am able to indulge myself in an art form that's just for me without having to think about commercial value. Thanks again!🎨☺

Thank you. I knew of all of these techniques but I didn’t realize the control I could take to very the results. No one ever explained it so clearly. I love the detail you put into the hydrangea. Would you make a long tutorial sometime with a patchwork sort of design where we could make a painting with distinct areas of many different techniques. Maybe even do a one a day area. Then show a glaze or some techniques that would pull it all together. I could try but I am sure I would not come up with as successful painting as you do. For now I am going to use these techniques with others to make a fantasy sky background.
