We live in very distracted and disconnected times where people are losing trust in our most basic institutions, and also losing trust in each other. But we’re also becoming more disconnected from ourselves. This video is an introduction into how to connect with your life’s calling in an era of disconnectedness.
It’s believed that around the 13th century, a golden Buddha statue was made in Thailand. To prevent it from being stolen, it was covered in a thick layer of mud and plaster so it would appear to be made of stone. Years passed and people forgot that it was ever made of gold. But centuries later, it began to crack and the hidden gold was revealed.
This story is a metaphor for our lives; how we forget our true nature and our potential to discover it again in moments of pain and tragedy. In this video we explore 3 main paths to finding your calling and connecting with your true divine nature.
CHAPTERS
00:00 - An age of disconnectedness
01:00 - Your life’s calling and the story of the Golden Buddha statue
02:26 - How our social conditioning keeps us from hearing our callings
03:52 - Part 1: Reconnecting with your inner child
07:18 - Part 2: Synchronicity and hearing your calls
11:13 - Part 3: Confronting your mortality
13:25 - How many more times will you remember?

Please don't stop with this content! I'm in a position right now where I am being forced to go against my calling. This is helping me keep the faith that although I don't know what is happening, I can still trust the sixth sense. I can keep moving.

@Casey Davis hi Casey. Thank you so much for asking! Interestingly enough, since December, doors along the forced path have been closing, and doors along my chosen path are opening. Right now, as circumstances allow, I am able to fully exercise my calling, and I'm going at it so hard that I need to schedule rest times. 😅 There are still major hurdles to fight through every day. But God's hand is keeping me afloat, giving me just enough to make it through every time. I'm a Life Path 22, so there's a looot of building I have to do.

That calling my dear is God trying to bring back on the right path towards your purpose for what He Created you to do.. You are not randomly made by chance you have a calling. However this calling is direct line from GOD..DONT MISS YOUR MARK (sin) and refuse to pick up the phone and listen to God's voice. The enemy will draw u far away from God and your purpose. Trust God. Let Him guide you and He will Provide for you. .Faith takes courage. Ask God for strength and Do for Him as He has planned..our Pride wants to do what we want. However that's not humility that Ego. Let Go and Let God. Praying for you to find the narrow path. Matthew 7:13-14 It's not easy. But so worth it! God Bless you🙏

I was meditating at the beach, where I imagined letting my external shield of rock just crumble. Then, when I got back home, I found in my feed this suggestion by youtube, of an 11-month-old video about the golden Budha. I am in a process of transformation and have been experiencing and following many synchronicities lately. This video today was definitively one.

Your videos are pure gold, Elson. Believe it or not, but while I watched this video, I experienced a synchronicity. Wow. I'm a little bit... shocked. So many wise words here! So many truths! "But as we get older our world becomes noisy, our lives get too busy, and there's less room for the calls to get through" - 100% agree. That's why I always trusted my 5 year old self, who knew EXACTLY, what my path would be. But now that I'm grown up, world has changed and... Well, my life's calling is still the same, but I find it so hard to listen to it. But still want to! I'm sooo so happy to see that you're so close to hitting 100K subs! Bravo to you! 👏😊

Another great video! Two things struck me the most from this video: The growing lack of trust with the institutions around us and the lack of rituals to help us transition though the phases in life till the ultimate phase. Death. What is the singular action that breaks trust? Lies. Why do people lie? There is an enormous short term benefit from the lie and a painful short term cost to telling the truth. Why do we keep thinking and acting in the short term? Because we think life is infinite and we're never going to die. We fear death and yet death affects life far more then we even realize.
@ModernIntuitionist

Thanks so much, my friend! I always enjoy your deep observations and valuable insights. That's a wonderful point that lies bring short term compliance at the expense of long-term trust. I love how you weaved that connection with our often unconscious denial of death. This is a deep topic that could be its own video. Really beautifully said! I truly appreciate you

You have no idea how much your videos are helping me to go through a stage of my life plagued with uncertainty. Now this one is a synchronicity. Sometimes I pray (well more like talk to God or something divine, I don't like the word pray 😅), yesterday I asked if they could help me find my path because somehow all jobs I apply to (even with a master's degree) don't call me back to at least schedule an interview. After watching your video I feel more relaxed. It can feel quite lonely to keep on trying to be a creator when people in real life tell you that what you do is useless and will never come to fruition, so whenever I find these messages I feel like I'm not completely alone. Anyway once again thank you for all the time and passion you put into your channel.

I just found your channel! This video is gorgeous. Joseph Campbell, he was not originator of most his concepts, he was very patriarchal, a misogynist!!!!!!!!!!! So at least to make note, and I think many many better people to edit into here in your otherwise insight and visually textured, I'm audhd and I appreciate the small details. That leaf is lovely and i tried floating the same way while watching lol. And this message, of how conditioned we were as unjustifiable violence against our true selves, and steps to return home within. This video will help people come back alive. Thank you and may we be full of Light on our journeys🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I remember being in 11th grade I used to play piano in the cafeteria during lunchtime in front of everyone. It took balls. I wasn't that good at 16 but I decided I was going to be a professional. I was a really good looking guy and this pretty girl came up to me and I told her I was going to be a professional musician. She reacted negatively and said " what if you don't make it?" I said " I don't care I'm going to play music because that's what I love ". She was probably either jealous of me or thinking she wanted a hunk like me to be her debt slave and provide her with good looking children, a big house and a Mercedes. I really don't know. The important thing is I defended myself against her put-down and I felt good about it. Funny when we're bold enough to share our dreams with a stranger and they put us down and try to pop our bubble. She probably didn't even have a dream. Wonder what even happened to that bitch? I didn't even know her name. She most likely married a bean-counter, had kids, got divorced, got married again and died of some cancer. Me I'm still composing at 65 and still playing jazz piano guitar and bass. And I've never let anyone pop my bubble.

Learning about Joseph Cambell should be mandatory in our spiritual education classes. Spirituality 101: The Hero within... actually, and I'm not joking here... They actually DO use him in the curriculum in LAUSD middle school English Honors classes. It's a wonderful and inspiring segment. It's all about the journey within and finding your hero's journey or seeing these hard times as our own family's as heroes that are right before our eyes. It's a wonderful story that has been told and is basically universal on all dimensions.

I am older nowadays. As a child I had rocks thrown at my daily on my walk home from school. The Watts riots 9.6 miles of terrorist violence ended prior to my house between drug dealers and Indian community village. I survived 13 years of harassment and medical abuses to murder me and save Morongo casino resort and spa workers compensation payout! I see Nestle/Morongo as PAID ACTOR'S EXEMPT of consequences of genocidal crimes and breaking law's in California and beyond since 1800's possible prior! As a child, my father's companion was non believer. Her artfulness of psychological psychopathic narcissistic manipulating abuses on many levels is toxic as the darkness from the children from village. I am non tribal non gang apparently disposable white disabled female born in Los Angeles! I have learned what behaviors is desired of me. I have not curiosity of those in denial of Spirit. As a child I stood in line for the exorcist. A historic moment. Curiosity has a price! That night I was subjected to Pazuzu, unknowingly. I have seen as meditation spiritual development has different types of effects. Yet, parrarel of repeating behaviors of toxic narcissistic abuses never-ending! Occult practices infect many aspects of history denial is not cure!

This was such a great video! Your channel is really great! I had SO MANY of these syncronicities in my life after 2019 when I began to change it for the better, it was crazy and they are still happening all the time today. I even wrote and publish a book about it! And what's even crazier is just like that Queen of hearts card you mentioned in the video, well a few months ago when I was in Vegas, I saw a 7 of hearts card, right at a moment when we were doing something really big with our clothing brand. It was so crazy, and it's even more of a 'reassurance' that I'm on the right path that you mention that hearts card in this video. And the 7 is a very meaningful number to us as well.

Hi Elson - this is such a poignant video and the quality is fantastic as always! I think your work always simultaneously has very broad appeal while also resonating so much on a personal level. I believe it's very true that most people know their calling from a very early age, on a soul level, and that everyone has endeavors that they are innately drawn to. I think that the more people embrace their calling and fulfill their true life mission, the more the world will indeed come together, and the divine plan will click more and more into place. The modern world certainly does not make it easy though, and often buries these dreams under many years of conditioning, in the form of fears, limiting beliefs, and scarcity mindset. Also, the quote by Brandon Lee was really meaningful at the end. During every human lifetime, even if you live until your 80s, there are only so many sunsets & sunrises, so many deep conversations with loved ones, only so many special moments, and we all need to remain mindful enough to cherish them. Mortality also makes your personal mission and calling all the more important.

Thank you for sharing the name of the song by Debussy. I didn’t grow up around much classical music. I’ve always wondered who wrote that song. Guess I’ll have to keep watching, to see if you mention others with songs. That I’m still hoping to figure out along the way;) Thanks

TALKING ABOUT SYNCHRONICITY. Today I washed this video (by chance) and among other things there was this passage with Brandon Lee. Wow, I haven't seen him for a long long time in any old film. One hour later I see on Facebook that Today it is Brandon's Birthday!!! This is really Synchronicity!. Yet I don't really know how to interpret it.

Elson, its odd as again i didnt get a notification of this video but only became aware of it because of reply notification of a comment i had made on the Alchemist video which itself was a confirmation to me from the universe a day after I officially took a different direction . Yes the 9 is in there lol . But now finding out this amazing video was out and watching it now , its bluntly speaking to me at the right perfect timing to see it now just after my next move in the direction im suppose to go. And even with this video it includes Brandon lee which i had a very interesting experience around the last few weeks in connection with the Crow... The universe is speaking once again.....

i agree that we need to reconnect with the curiosity that some of us had as children. i would argue that what we all need curiosity in general. that we need to embrace the meaningless and the constant seek for value. that "curiosity" when seeking for "value" is something that get a lot of people in the hole of disillusion. - "As painful as it may be, death gives meaning and importance to time, it brings focus and puts life in perspective. When we face our death we can't help but drop the social mask, the stone surface falls away to reveal the hidden gold." woah.. so ... a bit of a hole in what you said there. i thought everything had INTRINSIC meaning... and now death is what gives things meaning? it is almost like you WANBT to say everything is meaningless and we have to make of it what we want while we have the time.

This week Ive been thinking about how there are no more rights of passage rituals for people entering adulthood. I think this is why some people, have whats labeled as a psychotic episode where you go out and basically sink or swim. You get through it and your eyes are opened, or you get stuck in that state, die or end up in jail.

I can't argue with the presented points, but counter-intuitively, i found out that the very first step one needs to take in order to move on is to accept their current situations, because otherwise, over the course of a lifetime, no matter what childhood passion one might avidly pursue, there will come a point where they will get bored of that specific thing. That's how the human psyche works on a fundamental level: always chasing after the need for novelty. On the other hand, developing discipline, (be it for the work one does or in their personal life) feels like torture to the brain. So in terms of life's calling... either in a disciplined or passion pursuing manner is better than mindlessly running on auto-pilot.

Wonderful point, as always Eideard. I do plan on exploring discipline in the next video on this series. I do believe that most (if not all) of the great masters in history possessed a balance between discipline/focus and also a sense of play/exploration. I also believe it is something we can all tap into. I always appreciate your valuable insights which adds so much to the comments. Take good care and be well!

Desperado is my signature karaoke song. I have my own way of singing it. 🤣 I relate the word desperado to chess. I didn't care about the game because I prefer mahjong; the preference of besting 3 people appealed to me. I wrote in a comment to one of your videos I was born twice near the sea at dawn, and grew up in the mountains. Thus these mythological characters: Dionysus, Poseidon, and Eos or Aurora (my given name). It turned out, all other characters related to these three can also be accounted for depending on the situation one deals with in life. Like, I can relate to Artemis through one of the wishes she asked of her father Zeus, and her admirer Actaeon who was turned into a deer. This portended the name of the sex offender when I was 10 years old...Arethusa, a granddaughter of Poseidon, for I have fled from the ardent pursuit of a suitor. Water is involved in both incidents. The trauma I had strengthened my memory like Ariadne's thread; it felt like her when I got divorced two years ago. Ariadne given up by Theseus on the island Naxos. I remember the theme song of Disney's Hercules sung by Michael Bolton playing in my head on-board the plane on my way to Norway in 2001...Michael, the name of the puppy love! The connection is like the pearls of Buddha or the Holy Rosary...Many times I had the thought why "things" happen to people who wronged me or my loved ones though I couldn't even contemplate revenge; Artemis and Apollo avenging their mother Leto (?). In Norse mythology, I love Loki and Idunn. I was wearing a jumper with apple applique when I was struck with puppy love; the Apple of Aphrodite, the goddess who cursed Eos. I compare my situation today as a divorced woman to Ruth (sans Naomi) ...I did read mythology in college, read the whole Bible twice, I love Arabian Nights, HC Andersen's fairytales, and would never grow tired of reading children's stories and classic literature. I know so much and more capable now that I am older. But I feel more like Damocles than King Dionysus...and so I am re-reading the myths to understand the (jungian) deep structure process. So yes, we are not so disconnected. There IS a veritable party in the Unconscious...a masque ball!

Good video. I enjoyed it. But I wouldn't know. It's not for me to know yet. I think that the goal isn't the reward of the journey. I think that the goal is the direction of the path and that the path is the reward. For me the numbers are on the first footsteps of a path to a goal I didn't know I wanted. The goal is to remove the stone to reveal the gold. And the path is narrow.

The disconnection that we are feeling is all part of the new Earth process. A very good book by Eckhart Tolle "A New Earth" can help you with this process. Also in order to have synchronicity in your life you need to ask for it. Ask your spiritual guides for help and, most importantly listen for the answers or feel the answers. Books by Dolores Cannon can also help with these issues. I recommend the I Convoluted Universe books 1 through 5 , or "Three Waves of Volunteers". It's time to wake up the Earth is changing these books will help. This video is correct fearing death is our biggest obstacle, any fear is an obstacle these books will help. They will also help you understand why the Earth is flooding, heat waves, fires, pandemics all the catastrophes are explained and that we have nothing to fear.🙏😁

That footage of Brandon Lee is not him saying something original. He was quoting expatriot composer and writer - Paul Bowles - from his book, The Sheltering Sky. Bowles is used in the movie that resulted from the book as an on camera narrator, and says himself the quote that Brandon Lee recites ,at the very end of The Sheltering Sky…

Another very good film. However, I hated the interruption of the advertisements which break the flow, and ruin the viewer's train of thought - very distracting. I would not mind so much an ad or occasionally two at the beginning only. Regarding the subject, I have found it is interesting that when we contemplate and accept death and the temporary and transient nature of everything, it can also allow one to feel less need to do anything. This seems paradoxical to the message here. But when we accept these things, every matter and care seem less onerous and life can seem lighter and more pleasant. It's an awareness that absolutely everything we know of will eventually cease to be, so there seems less reason to be so worried about most things.

Correction! The Buddha statue is NOT made of gold but from emerald and this is the true, facinating story of how it was "re-discovered": For more than 246 years The Emerald Buddha, has resided at the The Grand Palace in Bangkok. However its lineage expands beyond Bangkok and even Thailand. Religious scholars conclude with its particular pose of meditation, The Emerald Buddha resembles images of Southern India and Sri Lanka. Moreover this pose is not prominent in traditional Thai sculptures.Historians know that The Emerald Buddha has travelled to numerous areas in Asia. Various armies and kingdoms battled for the ownership of The Emerald Buddha, as: It is strongly believed to bring prosperity and good fortune to a country in which it resides. The complete story behind the very early history of The Emerald Buddha remains somewhat a mystery, it’s alleged that from India the statue was moved to Sri Lanka and from there was taken to Cambodia where it was kept at Angkor Wat. Ultimately arriving in Thailand to reside in various temples located in provincial kingdoms that quickly rose in prominence, including Ayutthaya, Lopburi and Kamphaeng Phet provinces. THE EMERALD BUDDHA IN CHIANG RAI PROVINCE Reliable chronicles from historical records indicate, The Emerald Buddha was kept in Chiang Rai from 1391-1436. It was here that a chance act of nature transpired, adding to the intrigue of the talisman. Lightning struck a Buddhist shrine in a temple called Wat Pa Yeah. The lightning exposed what was thought to be a plaster Buddha, the Abbot of the temple noticed that the stucco on the nose had subsequently crumbled away. Revealing the precious Emerald Buddha which had been camouflaged to prevent it being pilfered by previous invaders. As a result of this discovery, the temple of Wat Pa Yeah was renamed Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of The Emerald Buddha). *Please note: In Chiang Mai the Buddha Statue that resides there or the Temple name is not to be confused with the Temple or Emerald Buddha in The Grand Palace, Bangkok. In this period the municipality of Chiang rai was under the rule of the King Samfangkaen. The Emerald Buddha soon became exceptionally revered, it was thought to be moved to the larger city of Chaing mai where it would be readily accessible to a greater number of worshippers to give homage. It was sent out on a convoy upon an auspicious rare white elephant to a neighbouring city. However on three occasions, the elephant on its own accord hurried to another location instead, to the city of Lampang province (2/3 thirds the way to Chaing mai). The King believed that spiritual entities safeguarding The Emerald Buddha deemed it auspicious to stay in Lampang, to where it remained until 1468. In the mid-16th century, The new King Tiloka, of Chiang Rai, had The Emerald Buddha transported to Chiang mai, where it was appointed in the eastern niche of a large stupa (a dome-shaped Buddhist shrine) at Wat Chedi Luang. The King had no heirs to the throne. The Kings daughter subsequently wed the King of Laos and born one son, prince Chaichettha. After King Tiloka passed away in 1551 the fifteen year old prince was invited to become the successor of the throne in Chiang mai. However In 1552 Prince Chaichettha preferred to return to Luang Prabang, then the capital of Laos, taking The Emerald Buddha with him. Promising the ministers he would one day return to Chiang mai, however this never transpired nor did he return The Emerald Buddha. In 1564 the now King Chaichettha was chased out of Luang Prabang by the army of the Burmese King Bayinnaung, who in turn removed The Emerald Buddha and took it with him to the new capital of Vientiane, Laos. THE EMERALD BUDDHA IN BANGKOK In 1778, King Taksin of Thailand, went into battle with Laos and won, retrieving The Emerald Buddha which he enshrined in Wat Arun, in Thonburi province, on the outskirts of Bangkok. The new capital of Thailand was established in Bangkok in 1782 under King Rama I. A magnificent new temple was built to house The Emerald Buddha and was then transferred to The Grand Palace in 1785. The Emerald Buddha statue has remained there to this day.
