Nice giveaway,I have a couple of questions...🤔🤔 1/What is the purpose of the plung button? 2/ Do Bangood sell multiple versions (meaning 8&10 pin versions). 3/ What is the weight/feel of these,they look very robust and quite heavy on camera. Thanks for listening and making another great vid👍👍😘😘
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
Pick Beard great questions :-) 1/ for plunging ;-) seriously though, it allows the tip to retract into the handle, pushing the probes back to the zero position 2/ no, not that I've seen. I've been told Southord do these variations, but I imagine they are not too cheap 3/ these seem to be made with milled aluminium handles or similar. Robust, but not obtrusively heavy

I purchased a set of these a few months back and they do not have the tension rod inside the tube. There is no way to turn the cylinder open once you get the right setting. Thanks for the video.
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
I find that it's not a problem as the friction between the tool and lock is enough to turn the core :-)

Hello, which ones are suitable for opening Chinese safes size pleas
@anekroth5 жыл бұрын
I have a set just like this one. I had an idea that I think might make them work a little better. I'm not certain of coarse, it's an experiment. The idea is this: I've noticed that these don't have a tab for tensioning the core. As far as I can tell it relies on the pins to rotate and bind the core. I am curious if a tensioning tab would improve the performance of these impressioning tools. My plan is to drill and tap a hole for a 1.6mm grub screw to act as a tensioning tab. If it works, the grub screw could be adjusted to be inward or outward facing so that it can be used for the different styles of tubular locks (and by that I mean inward tensioned or outward tensioned). I also have another mod that I already did which I will share with you. Actually I don't know if it can really be considered a mod because its such a simple thing. Anyway, because the button over-travels a little bit, it causes the plunger to bind and feel really rough. I stretched a 1/4" O-ring over the button so that the O-ring provides some padding and reduces the buttons range of travel a little bit. It stops the button from over-traveling and makes the plunger work a lot smoother.
@LockNoob5 жыл бұрын
That might just work :-)
@anekroth5 жыл бұрын
@@LockNoob Thanks, I hope so. Admittedly I'm procrastinating a little on actually doing it because I'm afraid the tools I have on hand aren't good enough to do a good job of it. I have to drill such a tiny hole through what isn't a very thick piece of metal. Plus, I'm not confident that I can keep the angle from being crooked when I drill through. I've been thinking about getting a drill press, I think it would make jobs like this a lot easier. Thanks for the reply btw. You are always really awesome about that and I really appreciate it. I'm sure it can't be easy with so many people leaving you comments.

ill save u time and hard work.. there is already a current set you can buy right now from Huk/Klom for 20 or less usd. that have a adjustable and or removable tension pin inside the tube. u can keep it in to aid in turning the lock without so much pressure being put on the fragile pick pins themselves. and u can use an Allen wrench to remove it compleatly if it's in the way at all.. I got the amazing ones I have on Amazon for under 20$ and they are very beautifully made with color coded magnetic reset rings around the pick pins and it's all high grade powder coated aircraft aluminim. the brand is: Klom Huk from China or Japan they are so nice and quality made they look and feel like little pieces of artwork. and are sure to impress ur buddies when they see what they do.. haha

Nice review mate. This set looks like it actually works pretty good. I like the idea that you can adjust the tension. I haven't had much luck with the sets that have the little O-rings and you can't adjust the tension. That's pretty cheap for a set that you can adjust.

Do you still find 7.5mm is the most common size? I ask because I’m a recovery driver and had to recover a van and trailer today which had a tubular lock keeping the trailer hitch locked, the driver didn’t have the key and I had to separate them at the side of the motorway, luckily the owner said the lock didn’t work so if you can grip it just pull it but I was thinking if the lock wasn’t broken what then? I have the huk tubular set but only have room to carry one really so the question is which one? Solely UK based if that helps?
@redcatimaging7 жыл бұрын
Great review Ash and pretty nice tools :), love the reset function and that you can tighten the collet. Always wanted to try out one of these and have seen them sold as single pieces, but never did know which size to buy (or say, which is the most useful). So thanks for the info :).

Hi, I want to buy a tubular pick and not a set, how do I measure the lock, is it the inner diameter which is approx 7mm or the external diameter next to the pins which is approx 7.9 mm? Thanks
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid that all the sizing seems to be a bit vague and even different tool makers own sizing is a little suspect. The reason why most manufacturers make multiple sizes is to give you the highest chance of accessing a lock, but sometimes none of the tools fit. The most common size seems to be 7.8mm though
@brianphillips74207 жыл бұрын
Lock Noob many thanks for the reply, I'll probably just get the 7.8 , my mum bought a safe and locked the keys in! And the safe was only £30 hence not wanting to spend £30 on a set of three picks, thanks for your video and response

many cheap floor safes will have a tubular lock for back up access if the battery dies on the pin pad or combo dial numbers are forgotten. the back up tubular lock hole will be under a plastic cover u can access if the regular way in isn't an option. like a small 2 foot tall/wide safelight cheap entry level home floor safe. if they don't just walk off with it to open it later they can use one of these to take everything in there and even lock it back up after. lol

The trouble with tubular locks is the varying diameters and the number of pins. Which means you need multiple tools to pick them. This gets expensive quickly. About the only way they can save a little on the costs is to use one handle with the main part of the tool being an insert into a common handle. Never seen a set like that, unfortunately.
