Update for people stumbling on this video now: the current set on banggood has the tension bars again. Bought mine a few weeks ago and it came with tension bars. They seen to have changed it back after complaints
@remchaill98984 жыл бұрын
Watch again. The indexing/tensioning bars are included, they can be inserted or removed from the tool, but they've been included in the kit all along. 2:12
@saschaschneider63554 жыл бұрын
@@remchaill9898 Yes. And below someone is saying that there was a change to the kit where they were not included anymore and the hole for them was removed. Which had me post that that change seemed to have reverted and that it indeed has been reverted to what you see in this video.
@remchaill98984 жыл бұрын
@@saschaschneider6355 I think the confusion was caused by them not being pictured on the website, but they've been there all along. The hole being removed refers to a different one. I can see where people got mixed up, but there's no way they'd just randomly change the device to make it useless on half the locks it can open.
@saschaschneider63554 жыл бұрын
@@remchaill9898 Again: the person below wrote that they've ordered that set and did get a version without the tension bars. And without a hole for them. LPL confirmed that this has happened to other people as well. I've ordered the same set some time later and I got the version LPL was reviewing. Frankly, the confusion seems to be mostly on your side of things - paired with an inability to read.

After watching this video about a year ago, I bought this kit. Yesterday, I pulled an old sailboat out of my side yard, and was surprised to see that I had apparently used a Kryptonite lock the boat to its trailer when I rolled it back there years ago. I couldn't find the key, and I was trying to figure out what to cut when o I remember that I had this kit. It didn't set the pins automatically on the first few tries, so I lubricated the lock and used the wires one-by-one. I hoped to set the pins the way I would when picking a standard lock, but couldn't feel all the sheer lines. Once I got them all of the pins to move, though, I reset all the wires' depths to zero, and I was able to open the lock using the method demonstrated here! It was a lot of fun, and it saved me about an hour of grinding. (It also saved the lock, which is good because the key turned up in an old toolbox.)

Those of you having trouble with the pick not working. The blades on the pick might be sliding under the pins in the lock. Carefully bend the last 1/16th of an inch of the blades OUTWARD SLIGHTLY. the blades should just barely float above the pick when in the “flush” position. Also recommend removing some of the rubber bands. 3 is good enough.

Thanks. I've been using this set for about 1.5 years, and have been generally happy with it. The main shortcoming is the inability to lock the picking wires in place. Why not just have the indexing bar permanently installed with a spring? That way if you need it it'll stay extended and if you don't it will retract into the tool. I mean it would make the tool a bit more complex (aka more expensive) but then you wouldn't have the chance to lose the rods.

I bought one of these and they're pretty great ' - I work in vending and it defeated our locks very quickly an easily. The problem I had with it was that it misaligned the notches on the inner and outer ring (obvious user error). I wasn't able to rectify this issue without using a key with the upper notch filed off. Probably could have been avoided if I had turned the pick back before removing, but this really illustrates why not being able to lock in the impression is indeed a problem.

I had the exact same problem my first time using these, which was yesterday😅 picked the vending machine open, took out the pick, and it was stuck. Luckily I could put the pick back in (the key didn't work, as the notches weren't aligned), and after a few tries got it closed again. @R33f4_61 in answer to your question, which is probably irrelevant by now, some newer lock companies vary the length of springs or pins in tubular locks to make them impossible for these tools to pick. Most large companies (like coin-operated gumball machines, vending machines, any claw-game style money-maker, or coin-accepting machine, etc.) still make very simple locks, since very few people naturally know how to pick tubular locks.

A little tip, just got mine works perfect, after adding 1 tension band, the tip: to lock your pick to a setting after picking a lock, you can make a lock ring from any piece of tube that has a slightly small inside diameter than the tension bands outer diameter. twist it over the bands so your not pushing them forward, only needs slight pressure on bands to prevent sliders from moving.

you don't know what you're talking about, the HUK tubular lock pick set does have a tightening ring to keep the pick needles in place. On the Blu one, it's right on that blue ring there is a set-screw, well tighten that with the included Allen key and it will tighten that ring, thus keeping those needles in place, allowing you to have permanent key to measure and make a real key with. You can get into a more basic menu (just stats, no changes) on coke machines by pressing 4,2,3,1 but the real fun menu only shows when the door is open. You can change prices and (I believe) 'test' things like drink dispensing and change dispensing. I think you might even be able to change whether the 'fun' menu shows up with the door closed or not.

Unfortunately a fraudulent charge tried to hit my credit card even quicker. The tool set is better than I really expected and I was able to open several tool box locks within seconds, but I think the overall quality is best for infrequent users like myself and not the professional or frequent users. Someone mentioned the HPC is much better and the price reflects that but for hobby type users I suspect this set for under $30 will serve them well. I did have to tighten some of the set screws a little and a couple of the tension pins bent slightly because I ended up using too much torque instead of technique but no problems going forward.

You can add a locking ring to these pics by finding a short piece of tube that is slightly smaller than the tension bands, and after picking the lock, put on the tube with a twisting motion, you can then check the pin lengths or reopen the lock like its a key. Just bend your pins very slightly away from the body of the tool less than a mm. stick it in make sure its springy, no forcing. then in and twist over n over making sure its still springy. if its not springy you overset something or your lock is sticking. the locks pins must be springy at all times. if your not in within 30 push n twists, reset and try again but softer. if that dont work try again but harder. some locks are just crunchy.

I bought this set to open my safe I'd lost the key to - it didn't work, but bouncing the safe and turning the handle did! I could have saved myself some money lol

Hello, I bought the huk set to open a cheap safe in our basement. The huk set did not come with the pins to insert to turn the lock. Your set in the video had it in and the huk set they sent you had pins for each tube. I have looked online and don’t see a huk set that comes with the pins? I came with extra rings, several picks that I don’t know how to use because the tubes cover everything. How do I get the pins for the center ? I cannot open the lock without them. Thanks and your videos are the bomb! Been watching you for years! Thanks

It is always amazing to me just how unreliable locks are. I also watch a channel where a guy shows you how to break into safes (for which he gets a lot of flack from the industry) and they are even more of a joke for how easy they are to open... Well the cheap home versions any ways.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
+rbuschy yes, it really is pretty bad. Part of the problem is pricing and expectations. People expect to get high-quality products at very low prices, and that simply is not usually the case.

I thought I had purchased this set but the set that I received didn’t have the three indexing bars or the hole to take the bar so have not as yet been able to unlock the box

You didn’t discuss using a decoder key to have permanent key made. How do you get a decoder key for this set?

I gave up. Ended up just forcing and was not happy how easy it was to get that open. Are there any tubular style locks like this that rock and can't be nuked so easy?
@huxleypig698 жыл бұрын
The magnetic reset-ring is pretty badass. The collar can be used to vary tension as well as use it as a key. It is that lock without the notch though...a Cobra isn't it? The design of the centre post there is heptagonal and is supposed to stop tubular picks from even entering the lock at all! Awesome, they're gonna be super-pissed if they see that I reckon, lol.
@lockpickinglawyer8 жыл бұрын
+huxleypig69 I'd imagine that they are even more pissed about my video #224 (though it does have a generally upbeat message)... 😜 can you explain what you mean about the collar?
@huxleypig698 жыл бұрын
So you'll get some tubular locks that self-impression easier using different amounts of collar tension. Then there is the 100% full bollock-lock for key.

HOw do you remove the indexing bar? Ive tried loosening the set screws I see but it doesnt fall out. Thanks.

So... quick question: what if there is a tubular lock where pin #4 is broken - more precisely, the spring isn't reacting at all. The pin doesnt want to go all the way in and yet the spring does not kick the pin out? hope that makes sense. The pin does move in and out a little, but not all the way

Thanks for the review, I recently bought the Klom tubular tool, and have found it to be very well made, also it has the tensioner and decoder key so you can make a key once you have it impressioned, , I have wanted to try these Huk 3 piece for a while so thanks for the insight into them, with the 20% off coupon , I think its time to Order!

The klom tool is definitely well-made... I just didn't have much luck with it opening locks. Not sure if the problem was me or the tool. :-( Good luck with the HUK set!

So with the confusion I see in the comments about the missing tensioning bar on some kits. Is this still the best kit to be ordering? This video being from early 2017 makes me wonder if there are better sets for similar prices? It seems even on the link below they specifically state the new version doesn't have the tensioning holes anymore. It shows an image of the end of the tools and states "The new version has no the holes anymore." So what is a good alternative to this set for a similar price?

keypro M8 ( search; [Ship from US] Free Shipping Tubular Pick Tool 7.0 PIN 7.5 PIN 7.8 PIN ) has one that looks identical for $15.99. At that price, I'll make my own pins as long as the hole is there.

Daft question but I have a small tubular lock...keys sadly lost , hence me being here. Looking to get one of the lock picking tools but dont want to get the wrong diameter of lock. Its quite small, 4 pin . How do I measure to get the right diameter lock picking tool? Inside circle only or from outside of lock to outside of lock? Many thanks Callum

I bought this set a few years ago and it came with some demo perspex locks to pick. It was a nightmare to pick, putting in the tool and twisting got me nowhere, I had to manually manipulate the pins to move the lock part of a rotation. So I got bored with it and left it. Then I come across a bike locked to my bike and I grab the tool just in case I can at least jiggle it. Lo and behold, old Kryptonite lock fell away in seconds. Back to the plastic demo locks, still won't work, they're just too sloppy for the pick it seems 😝

Good set but the new ones come with the driver pins installed and there almost impossible to remove, I borrowed a set of snap on needle nose pliers to remove them and it was a struggle! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated 👍

Got one of these kits to turn the airconditioning on inside our buildings elevator. Our building manager is a stingy pos, so we all pitched in amd bought this, but the little tension rods wont fit the dam holes. nicely made aluminum but
@andyaskew15435 жыл бұрын
There is a set screw on the opposite side from the pin hole. You will need to pull back the pick to get to it.

Tried using the picks but none of the three of them even fit into the circular lock groove. Weird that they don't come in more of a variety of sizes.

Maybe this is a stupid question but after inserting the HUK tool and tensioning the lock could you not push down on each rod separately and pick each pin singly?

OK Mr LPL, after watching this I bought the set, and I started to practice on my Kingston laptop lock. Unlocked in about 15 seconds. However, now the barrel is rotated 90 degrees to the unlocked position, and I cant lock it again. As the keyway on the outside (of the ring, opposite the index slot) is now not aligned with the indexing slot on the barrel, I cant get the genuine key back in. The mechanism seems to have some spring between the outside (where the key goes in) and inside (where the T bar slots into the laptop) - do you know if this needs to be compressed or not? Or do you know if there needs to be something inserted into the keyway to simulate the real key? This is the first time I’ve effectively disabled a lock whilst experimenting - that must put me into the total amateur category :(. Any advice from a complete professional?

When this happens on vending machines, they use a key with the outer tit ground off. Then the key can be incerted in any position in order to align it with the inner notch. Get the correct key and grind off the outer tit, and realign the lock, or grind the outer tit off the tool. Next time code the tool after opening the lock, and make a key from it. That way you won't have to grind your tool. That didn't sound good. Sounded better in my head. Lol

I ordered this before reading the bad reviews but i got the same one like in the video with the hole and pin. I think if you order from the EU warehouse then you will also get the good version.
