They really should be getting more sympathy, but I think there's something deeply unsympathetic about how they were living their life. They were glorifying a lifestyle based on aesthetics combined with danger. And instead of realizing the flawed nature of what they were doing, they doubled down and are acting like this their lifestyle is something to emulate because 'they were going outside their comfort zone'. But I don't know what I'm talking about, that's just my impression. It seems like they were saying if your life isn't picturesque then it's not admirable. I think the reverse is true, if you're spending so much time getting pictures of what you're doing to impress people, there's something that's not admirable about that.

I got away from social media, except for KZbin, because everything had become so fake. people aren't happy just being in the moment and everything becomes about showing off. The surviving group members seem a bit dense. It's one thing to encourage people to "get out of their comfort zones," but quite another to encourage the outright recklessness shown in their videos. You don't need to do multiple flips from a cliff into the water to become physically fit, or walk across a crumbling bridge hundreds of feet high, or hang out on the edge of the roof of a skyscraper with a selfie stick. Just get out of your house and take a walk, ride a bike, or do some hiking.

At least.....I don't think that would be any consolation for anyone. I love giving birth, wouldn't want to die during that. Love having sex with my husband, definitely wouldn't want to die doing that. I think it's kind of silly to act as if that means something.

@terriesmith8219
@terriesmith8219 6 жыл бұрын
A. Smith~Speak for yourself! It might not be consolation to YOU but it's a consolation to alot of people. Having sex and giving birth is not the same RISK as diving off of a plane, or jumping into a waterfall from the mountaintop. Your comparison is weak. Doing death defying acts is NOT comparable to having sex or giving birth. Doing death defying acts, is asking for death, otherwise they wouldn't call it death defying acts for a reason. Yes, one can die from ANYTHING but the difference is, you don't go out of your way and asked for it. These dare devils knew the risked. They accepted these risked. They knew the potential of death is very high yet they did it anyway because it's what they love and they are willing to risk their life doing what they love. Not alot of people die doing what they love. That was the whole point of my original post.

Getting out of your comfort zone doesn't mean you have to take on a degree of danger that knowingly could cost you your life. There are risks. There are calculated risks. Getting out of your comfort zone can mean many different things, not just trying to shoot a perfect photo or video on top of a slipper waterfall. High On Life group discovered that there are zillions of YTbers vegging out in front of YT looking for anything to grab their attention. They weren't the only ones doing crazy stunts. They just have happened to have the right formula and video technical ability to create sharp looking vids that caught your attention. I'm sure they were all decent people. But pulling stunts that are crazy and "out of your danger zone" have a way of eventually catching up with you.

Instead broke laws disrespected sacred sites 2 deceased now have US felkny record all banned from US parks for 5 years..all to get that extreme shot for your sponsors YT subscribers Insta. They depend entirely on other peoples' money to maintain this upperclass lifestyle of travel partying...their words.. According to their site all 4 guys live in a Vancouver penthouse apt.With Vancouver being one of most expsensive places to live on the planet. I have not read one post from remaining 2 guys gf or fam expressing gratitude to search rescue police risking their lives for 48 hours plus taxpayers funds. But did take time to start a 100K GFM for a memorial (?) . When questions concerns were asked what memorial would cost this he dropped it to 50K and no comments allowed. Easy to be irresponsible when other adults are paying the entire tab. Also like kids you are not allowed to critisize or ask legit questions only admire envy them....for being irresponsible.

Living the best life killed them and young. Yes, I will get ppl who will tell me there are people who die of cancer at very young ages, people who unexpectedly die while driving, or people who crossed a street and got killed. But these ppl didn’t go looking for death. Death came to them. Living life to the fullest doesn’t mean you go seeking for death.

Lol they weren't seeking death, they were seeking a more meaningful life! Who are you to judge? Most people who sit around eating processed food, not being active and just watching the news are seeking a much slower, painful death. And more than just a physical death. If you keep living in fear, you're killing yourself mentally and spiritually, then in turn physically. I'd rather die purely physically from an accident than on all 3 levels from a preventable disease. Ya'll are trippin.

Layoona Cancer is usually not preventable, but I kind of agree with the rest of what you said. It's better to die doing what you love than to live a miserable life unsatisfied. That's how the Crocodile Hunter dies (RIP). But on the other hand, either way I prefer to have a longer life. And I also want a satisfying one, but that doesn't mean putting yourself in harms way. Just saying.

I live in the area of where this happened and there are ropes and things you are not supposed to cross and a memorial of people who have died at the waterfall. There is no reason this would have happened if they didn’t try to go out of their ‘comfort zones’ and break a rule that was in place to keep people alive but they disregarded it and this is what the outcome is.

I'm a bit older then they were and have traveled extensively. I may be dating myself but I traveled through Europe pre-cell phones and pre-social media. Looking back, I did some amazingly dumb syht! That's what being young is all about. I did it for the experience and for the thrill of being alive. I wanted to engage with this truly amazing world we live in and learn from other groups and cultures. It was done without drones, GoPros, social media accounts, selfies, etc. Some of my most memorable times abroad was sitting in the desert under a starry sky in the Middle East drinking coffee and talking politics with village elders. Or sitting on a house boat in the Indian Ocean off the East Coast of Africa with some Rastas fishing, smoking and talking music. Maybe I would never have had these experiences if I was focused on myself and on a camera. One can only guess if their need for likes or followers pushed them to take greater risks or seek attention. My advice to you younger travelers out there is to just be mindful of all you do and the people around you. Sometimes put the camera or phone down and engage with the world before you. Everything does not have to be a digital show and tell. You don't have to do something daring or dangerous to get out of your comfort zone. Engage in a meaningful conversation over dinner with people who might challenge your beliefs. Volunteer for an aid agency seeking to empower people in a developing country instead of staying in a resort. There are so many things you can do right now in the place you live to get you out of your comfort zone. Become engaged! Be Curious! Be safe! Be mindful!

Shocking. And I'm referring to some of the remarks here. Yes, they took risks, some which might seem borderline insane or vain to some, BUT, they were people. Just like you & me. Just like our brothers or sisters. And now they're gone. Can we not just have a heart & learn from this without reducing a life to a joke? Stop. Think about what their loved ones are feeling. Judging them or others doesn't make you important. If these guys are accused of taking risks just for likes, then how is pulling them down & mocking them ANY DIFFERENT?!! That's ALSO just for likes & 'Laughs'. Don't just sit there blaming society & pointing fingers at others when WE ARE SOCIETY ourselves, & going by the lack of ANY compassion here, it's clear to see how fucked up we are if we think it's ok to taunt people. Dead, may I add. Disgusting.
@stevechatha4533
@stevechatha4533 6 жыл бұрын
Turqoise We don't have to subscribe to choices others make, or expect everyone to follow our life path, & we'll always be surrounded by others who'll live in accordance to a very different ideology than ours, but to mock people & gloat about the death they 'Deserved' is cold and actually an even bigger problem than FOMO. Apathy. As for brothers & sisters - that's how I do see the human species. We're an extention of one another. Differences will only divide us. Race, countries, sexuality, colour - only seem to cause more divide. I try to keep in mind that we're the same. Your pain is the equivalent of my own pain. At least that's how I try & conduct my own life. So, in that respect, we ARE brothers & sisters. And why just humans, animals are our family, too. But we make the mistake of feeling superior to them. Point is, lack of regard for life, in any form. And that's evident from most of the comments here.
