I have a question to the first move. In my opinion, the dribbling is not fast and hard enough to get the second dribble in without the defense at least deflecting the ball. What is your take on this?

In the first drill, I know he talks about power bringing the right leg up, but is there any other reason not to take the extra step as he seems much more off balance taking just the drop step turn jump vs the 2nd step?

Hi David! Coach Kelbick is all about efficiency and mentality. The ability to go off the one leg also allows the player to minimize movement and increase efficiency.

Last move the player did it right, if you step through and drive opposite knee up it’s a travel, unless your are a girl. I’ve had top officials tell me that.

No shade intended... that last move with the shot fake and step through is a travel. You are picking up your left pivot to power to the basket with your right...

The coach was traveling while demonstrating but the player didn't travel. The player jumped off both feet. The last tip the coach gave before the video cut out would make the player travel. Probably why they cut the video.

Per OHSAA rules, once a pivot foot is established a player may not lift that foot prior to dribbling. However, a player may lift the pivot foot if attempting to pass or shoot the ball, but the pivot foot may not touch the ground again. So according to the Ohio High School Athletic rules, this move would be legal. In fact, they made it a point of emphasis this year for officials in our state. At first it may seem confusing, but I just think of it the same as shooting a layup. You establish and then lift what would be your pivot foot every time on a layup attempt. Same rule applies. There is no exception that I'm aware of for a layup versus a post move.

How can that be a travel when Harden didn't even travel on double step back???
@daoneeyedking5 жыл бұрын
@@fritzjcastro For Harden all those are a steps are 1 step. In Hardenese, this guy in the pivot hasn't even moved yet.

bad fundamentals. better to go off both feet so you absorb contact in the air and finish while also protecting your knees
