3 Reasons Why I Sold my Moog Grandmother
Yes, I had to sell my Moog Grandmother to fund the purchase of 2 synths:
The Behringer UB-Xa Desktop Module Synthesizer
Sonicware Liven Ambient ø.
I had to for 3 main reasons:
1. Form Factor - Too big for my new studio
2. Build Quality - Scratchy pots
3. No Patch Memory
I know it may be a weird decision, but so far, I am happy with the trade off.

you can always get a behringer model15 some day to replace the grandmother. it's a compact desktop module too.

@@defmodnetwork lol, i have a grandmother. i also agree with the patch issue, but it is a good performance keyboard. i really like the sequencer and i have also used the semi-modular aspect to use the wave folder in the west pest and control the barp2600. I was thinking about a model15 to make a ghetto-matriarch, but to tell the truth, i don't really like the semi-modular that much. i like digital control of analog, and workstation keyboards better. i also have been thinking about the ub-xa module. i have had a deepmind12 module for a long time now and i really enjoy that synth. i have several control keyboards and i am also trying to go with modules when i can. little keyboards waste too much space

You might like the Moog Sirin for its desktop form, app and presets

@@silvertongues2 thanks! Yes I was considering the Sirin, but since it’s a limited edition, the prices in the second hand market are crazy. Having said, if I find one that’s close to the price of the minitaur, I will probably consider. Do you have it?

Yes I do, their price has come a bit recently. Its a great desktop mono, and the app is very useful

Another great video. Hey, my opinion, I think you did not lose on the trade off. I've been seeing Grandmothers for as low as $500 in the New York area. So you made off. Getting the UB-XA desktop was good. The keyboard version I've seen them used already as low as $700. The desktop won't lose as much value because of the reason you sold your Grandmother for, space. Let people talk. If you feel you are happy abd making good music with what you have, then that's all that counts.

@@georgegeez8708 thank you! Yes, I agree. I do hope though that Moog comes up with a desktop version of the Grandmother. That’s would be a no brainer. And you are absolutely right about the choice of gear that works for you. While I like monosynths, they love playing chords so a poly is more suitable for me. And the only poly out there that is affordable is the UB-Xa.
