@@dexterwood1239 kinda. It could be why they're called Python Regius, and Regius means Royal which is why we call them Royal Pythons. If the Latin translation was Ball that would probably be what we called them, in spite of knowing the fact royals used them as jewelry.

Worth noting True Red Tails can be a little different, more specific requirements, nippier being fewer generations into captive bred especially as babies etc. Not always but yeah, they are definitely distinct. True Red Tails can also be varied wildly in size based on locality - many get a bit bigger, but there are locality BCCs that stay 5-7ft max.

They also make great small-medium size snakes. You can get localities down to 4ft, technically separate species and sub species, but just as varied and beautiful. Every size in between too. Love boas, so smart and inquisitive and funny and fun to raise. (Sonorans, Tarahumara Mountain Boas, Crawl Cay and Caulker Cay, and some of the other island stuff like Hog Island and Belize/Honduran island etc stay small, males especially)

Definitely best LARGE snake. At least best large constrictor. But I have a soft spot for my bulls. And some of them can get 7-8ft. And though they have sassy hissy personalities, they rarely bite. Usually bluff striking with their nose, and usually if you get them as babies and work with them, they tame down really well. Their husbandry is basically a super-sized version of a corn snake's, and they always eat every time. Plus more breeders are unlocking different genes and creating different morphs, including completely patternless (my personal goal to own one day). But after getting my 1st boa earlier this year, I've definitely fallen in love. Not sure I'll get any more yet. But we'll see.

My BCI is very particular about her food. Will absolutely eat nothing live and only frozen thawed rodents. She also will not eat with an audience. It’s a very civilized affair. I could serve up the rat on a plate with a side of parsley as a garnish. Her temperament is good. She is large , almost 8 feet, very strong, doesn’t vocalize, and on the rare times she has registered her displeasure with a bite it has been NBD. Similar to a rat snake bite
