A reporter said something similar to Geno last year and Geno's direct quote was " that's cuz you've never seen me throw". 😂
@matthewphillips59112 ай бұрын
Having been studying this team for a bit now, Geno is quite capable of leading a championship team. Not only has he hero-balled wins in tough games but the "bad year" everyone claims he had was anything but. He made a few bad decisions under pressure (like literally every QB) but was under more pressure than any other QB consistently through the entire season. When you adjust for the rate he was pressured he did *extremely* well at protecting the ball and avoiding sacks. In fact, most of the sacks he took were not his fault. He was behind a mid to bad O-line that *also* had 3 to 4 injuries basically the whole season (which also contributed to a poor rushing offense). That makes the actual question: has this O-line improved to at least middling to slightly above average? Last year's front 5: Cross (middling performance), Lucas (always injured with no depth), Damien Lewis, Phil Haynes, and Evan Brown... and most of the time Jake Curhan and Stone Forsythe were out there. This year: Cross (who has looked better in camp for whatever that's worth), Lucas (who may be healthy), and George Fant at tackle; Bradford, Haynes, and Tomlinson (maybe O'Neal will be decent too) at guard, and Connor Williams and Oluatimi at center... Not a world-beating o-line, but pretty clearly better with more depth. Not to put too much faith in camp/preseason performance, but DK looks like he may have finally taken the next step, and JSN is being used much more (and more interestingly). Have to see it on the field in regular season games... but if things hit close to expectaion, this is a 10 to 12 win team.

This was a good and sober take on what the situation is. I agree heavily with your wrap-up on whats most likely the expectations for this team in 2024. I also very much agree that the big wildcard on this team is Geno Smith. You said that the real question mark here is if Geno can be that Championship caliber quarterback. I'm a Geno Smith truther, so if that's what we (seahawks fans) are going into 2024 betting our hopes and dreams on, then I'm okay with this. Geno won my heart and has earned his chance at this. Can he do it? Well that's obviously up to him and his supporting cast.

Good review. I think Geno's better than you think. Put Josh Allen, Pat Mahomes or any top tier qb behind the line play they had last year in Seattle and they fare no better. Geno constantly made great plays out of great blocking blunders! New offense, proven only in college, but we'll proven. O line coach, major upgrade! Defense will give the offense more TOP and plays per game to get rolling. Hard to say what the win loss record will look like, but this team is going to give everyone problems, even the whiners!

@matthewphillips59112 ай бұрын
@@loremaster77 I mean, you're clearly just a troll (I'm guessing a 9ers fan). And while it may be a bit unreasonable to say Mahomes or Allen would have had the same season in that system... KC only asks Mahomes to be a hero maybe once a quarter. Allen does fluctuate when behind bad o-lines too. Geno was under more pressure than any other QB and still had relatively low sack numbers (with most sacks he took not being attributable to him). He was also one of the most accurate QBs in the league in an offense that didn't (or couldn't) do screens or quick checkdowns (at least well). We'll see what Geno looks like this year behind an improved o-line and in Ryan Grubb's system (my guess is he'll look pretty damn good).

+500 all but one season (2021 7 wins), 1st or 2nd in the division for all but 2 years, and double digit wins 5 of 9 years is better than just average. If having no clear liability group, 1-2 questionable groups (o-line & ILB), 3 extremely talented groups (WR, IDL, CB), and the rest being good to very good (EDGE could be elite) is a rebuild I'll rebuild every year. Outside of their WR room, they still have Trent Williams, George Kittle, Kyle Juszcyk, CMC, and Brock Purdy. With or without Aiyuk, the show will go on. Love the hawks, but cant sleep on the competition. And the rams beat us twice last year, despite any injuries they may have had.
