Big agree that same mold same weight same plastic is a big help. Once I finally started doing that I noticed a considerable change in the effectiveness of my putting practice on the actual course. Even practicing got better too.

I've been putting in my basement when I have free time. I have a cheap basket with barely any chains, so it's really forcing me to putt at the pole or else I spit out. Guess my cheapness has been helping me all along 😂

Hey Robbie, I combined a few of your putting tips from the past with what you spoke to hear and thought I’d share. I’ve adopted your 3 putter practice for what feels like a year now (a tremendous help by itself). If I make all 3 I take a step back. If I miss all three I take a step forward. 1-2 misses and I stay put. What I’ve tried recently is only moving back if all three putts feel good (no wobble out of the hand, right side of the chains, etc.). More than just making the putt, I want to adopt what you’re saying in the video and make good putts and develop a sense of what feels right and what doesn’t. So far so good!

My new years resolution is 30,000 practice putts, and just got some chains for the backyard. I am a bit behind schedule, but it is winter in Colorado, and at 2,822 total so far I will get there. Robbie C, this video was perfect for what I needed to hear.

Apologies in advance if this gets wordsy. I took your advice and got ten copies of my putter. I set up a home made basket that has two configurations. The goal is either 14x14 or much smaller at 10x12. I shoot 100 putts every other day and track my % at 15 and 20 feet. When the weather and my % improve, I will be doing 20 and 25 feet. I puked myself out of entering a tournament in December because my putt game had no confidence. Well now I have thrown 1000 more putts and my confidence is improving every day. I know it doesn't sound impressive, but yesterday I went 10/10 during practice and it felt incredible.
@bernan16 ай бұрын
it is amazing how quick one can see results. When I started my goal was 200 a day. Within a week the difference was notable. Literally. Which is what got me to practice even more. Eventually the improvement curve begins to flatten a bit, but usually not for some time. I'd also recommend Brodie Smith's vid on putting. Some fantastic ideas in it.

Push putt is more of almost a horseshoe throw with not much spin. Spin putting is opposite. Instead of popping it off of your fingers, it's more of a direct spin towards the basket. Not sure if this helped but there ya go 😂

You basically confirmed that how I practice is a good thing. I get bored with only practicing straight to the basket, so I started thinking about scramble shots and courses I play that have unique basket placement. I change it up and it brings fun into practice. Thanks for all you do!! - Curtis

I would highly recommend yes buying a couple putters in the same plastic and same weight any time you're trying out a new putter...If you've only got the hodge podge set of putters, rank them from least stable to most stable, and throw them in order of stability. Throwing randomly, particularly if you're practice 25-30+ ft will decrease your effectiveness. While ranking and throwing them in order of stability will give your body the chance to slowly make adjustments, and potentially help you find the right putter stability more clearly for you. Regardless of what you do though, the best thing you can do is focus on what about your putt makes your putt go in, and what happened when you miss. Slow down and really focus on the fine motor details, the setup of your body, shoulders, feet, amount of pop, everything. You'll figure out fairly quickly what about your individual putt stroke gives you better chances to go in if you do, which will help you self correct when things feel off. Ie... most of my off days I pull them right, which can be a few things, but a vast majority of the time it's simply a late/high release. So I can focus on lowering that release point and usually correct it, and worst case I'll put a slight hyzer on my putt if it's really pulling right.

Would like a stage two video discussing strategies to expand your comfortable putting range. I'm happy with my 20-25 ft putts, 25-30 I can make them frequently but I don't count on them. Outside C1 I'm probably better off laying up.

I had that problem until I switched to straddle putting. You absolutely have to use your legs. Another plus, Kristin Tattar said she does it bc then when you have to straddle around something it’s just your normal putt

I’m a musician and the best advice about practicing gets to the heart of what you’re saying - perfect practice makes perfect Repetitions don’t matter if you’re making a ton of mistakes. You will get better faster if you play slow and perfect than at tempo with errors

I have so many one-off putters wasting away in my field box. I just changed putters again simply because I want a practice stack and couldn't find a multi-pack deal on Logics. So out go my two Logics, even though I do like them, and in come the Marvels because I was able to get two for my bag and a 6-pack for practice at a good price. And they putt well for me.

Also agree limiting the "pitch count" helps. And not overdoing it beause you can over do it, sometimes not enough to cause an injury right away but can cause one easier when you’re not getting rest days

I use ‘dgputt’ to make the putting practice challenging and so that there is a little pressure. I do use all the same discs, plastic, weight, etc. I have been practicing more for the new year….i. A noodle arm…300-325 is my max distance….so putting is important for me to compete. I’ll never be able to out throw everyone, but there is no reason I can’t out putt them!

Thing I’ve been doing that’s really helped is true goal setting. Take 100 putts from x distance and mark how many you made. Keep that in a spreadsheet and track your progress. Gives me solid real data to assess and work towards something
@bernan16 ай бұрын
Brodie Smith has a video that does a similar thing. You throw 100 putts from 'x' distance. If you get 85% 3 times in a row (different days usually) then you move the distance back 5 feet. This is in addition to other practice stuff. I will say, if you're out hitting that at 25 feet, you'll likely be about 80% C1x.

I agree with your tips but I think the most common mistake is practicing missing. If you are not making 100% of your putts you are practicing missing, move closer. Hitting your target 100 % at 10 ft is your goal, then move further. Making 100% should be 80% of your putting practicing. Sure you can, and should, practice your circle 2 putts, but all too often people start at circle edge and spend 30 minutes making 10 % of your putts. I give up on a distance when I miss 50% or more. You also need to practice different types of putts. From a knee. Hyzer. Anhyzer. Nose up. Float.. etc
