I'm currently an 8 handicap and I achieve this by following 3 simple rules. If you want to become a single digit handicap and lower your scores than you need to watch this video. I played the Pinehurst golf course in Thailand, which was a beautiful 18 hole course.

4 hcp here. The penny dropped for me a few years ago when someone told me "70% of shots in a round of golf are within 50 yards". We all have heard "short game is key" but honestly when I heard a % it seemed to put more emphasis on it and motivated me to improve on it. Driver is also important. Not for distance or fairways, but for staying in play. Hitting hazards from the tee is still fine because you are still advancing the ball, but OB is really damaging. Think about it: on a provisional ball you need to make a BIRDIE on the second ball to put a BOGEY on the scorecard - I've seen so many mid high hcps get so upset that they score a double on the hole but they hit FIR, GIR and 2 putt on their second ball! 😆
@AgainstThe-Grain
@AgainstThe-Grain 4 ай бұрын
yes you are so right about OB balls. Round ruiners but you can still hit it in hazards and score okay as long as you advance it far enough. To your last point i also believe when people do that it's because they are more mentally free. They think "well this holes over" and just play without care and like you said end up going FIR, GIR and 2 putt

The tee box is the reason my lowest score remains an 84. And it's not just the driver. I go ob with 3 wood and hybrids too!

Your comment about your handicap being the lowest when you fought a hook changed my perspective. I have a natural hook/draw and I was always trying to hit it straight instead. But now I just think: USE IT! Thanks Ty!

Good effort, thanks for the fun entertainment. Once you get to single digit it is hard to get farther. By being a good chipper and putter, you’ve already picked the low hanging fruit. On a new course it’s harder but for this round you could’ve used more conservative aim points on the tee where water or OB is present. That will help. It’d be great for your video to state the course yardage and rating. I find as a 5 handicap that the course rating is really now making a difference in how well I play AND the adjusted score. If you’re playing a relatively easy 69 rated course you have to shoot really low to hit your handicap.
@AgainstThe-Grain
@AgainstThe-Grain 24 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The rating of this course was 71.3. Not the longest course but some of the tee shots where so narrow and hazard or ob on both sides

Im currently at 10.1 index. I have only been in the 70s once with a 78. But all rounds seem to be in that 81-86 range, i cant just seem to put it all together in a round. Always one brain fade hole where i lose concentration or just compounding small mistakes over 18 holes. But i honestly feel like im so close haha

Man i am so with you. I believe we just need to practice on focusing on one shot at a time and when we do make big mistakes, learning how to limit the damage. Also believing in ourselves and telling ourselves that we can shoot these lower scores!!

i am you... but have now had 3-4 70s rounds as a 10 index a few months ago... i literally switched to 2 iron off the tee, and just got the ball in the middle of the green (literally almost no matter where the flag was in case I went right/left 10 yards). its almost like i tried to play safer and for a higher score (going for pars not birdies) made me shoot better :P

This game always finds a way to humble you and kick you in the balls when you start getting happy and excited. We all do it. It's not even cockiness it's just a rush that feels amazing when you're hot. That crumble after 9 was an official nut-punch. And in golf, you can always shake off ONE bad shot, it's the second bad one in a row that puts you in the blender mentally after that.

Yes been under card for 9 holes a couple off time then walk off a couple over after 18 lol , 1 hole at a time an definitely off the tee makes a huge difference your not chasing your tail then . Trying too hard sometimes makes it worse , all I think about is the same routine an keeping it repetitive. Who doesn’t love golf it’s a great game to drive you crazy lol .4 handicap here an nearly 60 but I love it

Thailands good for filming because you’re never in a rush. Rounds routinely take 5+ hours because they allow 6 golfers per group, and most Thais are gambling on the course so they’re taking extra long on each shot. Bring a tripod obviously if you don’t have a crew. Otherwise it’s not too different from filming anywhere.

Hello, I know you're not interested in KZbin commenters fixing your swing, but I noticed your takeaway is very out-to-in, where you push the club away from your body as you take away. This seems to be one of the highly influential factors in your shot shape throughout the round

No i actually appreciate all comments about my swing and thank you for taking the time to type something like this out!!
