This is real. I’m a pro now but always wished I had that emotional support from pops. Eventually he came around but that’s when I got to d1 type potential. Man’s used to kinda kick me when I was down fr. It’s alright but that’s something I def won’t do w my kid. Both parents was supportive still but when I wasn’t as good it was a problem 😂

Didn’t see the vision from the get go. God bless that you were able to make it as far as you did. I had foreign parents who were supportive in regards to my needs and once I got good they came around but never fully. I wasn’t the kid u had to drag to the gym either so it would’ve been super easy if they would’ve tried to show more interest. Anytime I’d get a mentor, they’d immediately cultivate my skills and see potential in me because I was a hard worker but i’d either move away or they would because I’m military as well. But I still got to college so it’s all good. I don’t blame them because they didn’t know any better but with my kid imma be all involved. My girl’s dad was all involved and she went D1 and was the number 2 ranked player in her state. So all it takes is an investment in what they wanna do and you’ll separate yourself from the rest because it’s parents aren’t doing this.

I beg my parents to take me to a rec center so I can work on my game but they always push it aside like its not important. Thank you so much for this vidoe I needed this

Great message coach! My son is 11 - Monday evening - dribbling work out with 7 guys and coach - Tuesday - strength training with 7 other guys and coach - Wednesday and Thursday - team practices - Friday - our son and father fitness, dribbling, swimming - Saturday - game day - Sunday - watching high school game in the morning and at 4 pm church service. I have no my own life now guys, my son and family is my life. I love it.

@ 7 years old my son told me he when he grows up he wants to play in the NBA. I told him " alright you can do that but it's gonna take alot hard work I mean alot from this day forward for it to happen. He said "alright". I've been laughed @ and looked at sideways by friends (unfortunately) and co workers. When conversations are brought up about it . I could have been like most parents and not brought up college or NBA but why? I 1000% with 3 zeros beleive he is going to the league escaping any kind of career ending injury or tragedy. Maddoxx baker, remember that name we just waiting on him to go through his growth spurts then fill out a lil bit then you will start hearing it. Currently a 5' 10" freshman.

I’m going to send this to my cousin who has a son that’s 6’0” at 13. I got him into basketball(I played myself). He’s not as enthusiastic as you described in the beginning but he knows he likes Giannis and has his shoes. I just feel like I have to keep encouraging him and those around him.

I’m 21 and have a son turning 3 and we have the same birthday so we are truly tied in life my dad didn’t take the time to do this for me and hearing this message brings me to tears tbh man because I hear the passion behind it when u speak such things. I fell in love w/the game around age 12/13 back in ‘94/‘95. Guys like Penny, Shaq & Iverson at Gtown really made me love the game. I was abt 6ft in the 8th grade & spent my whole 7th to 8th grade summer working on my left hand after watching Penny in the ‘95 finals vs. Houston. Blue Chips had just hit cable(remember it used to take a year for a movie to be on tv) & I had it recorded on VHS. Spent my whole summer watching blue chips & game 4 of the Finals every single day just to study Penny. I came in one summer afternoon after working some more on my game & Told my mom I wanted to play college ball, she said “ok, good luck sweetie” My mom is a great mom but I always wished my parents would’ve pushed me. 25 years later i’m pushing my own son. 13 & 6’1 in the 7th grade. Sometimes I feel I want it more for him than he does for himself but I can’t let that potential or that fire die out like it did for me. I felt this video

Coach Dorian, Today we have an experiment with my son, before the game I asked him to set achievements for the game: 5 rebounds, 2 screens and 4 points. If he would do it I give him a prize (Gatorade). He loved it and he made all those achievements happened and even more. He kept in mind and counted. The idea was to combine video game experience from RPG (Role Playing Games) with basketball. My hope was that it gives him some extra motivation. He loved it and me too. What do you think about it? Is that bad idea or not?

I agree with your video however you have to take genetics into consideration. If the kid doesn’t have the genetics of an nba player he’s going to be overlooked, there a lot of kids out here who have nba skills and talent it just they didn’t hit the genetic lottery with height, athleticism etc. but if the kid has the genetics and plus everything you said in this video, they will be playing in the league

Just a lil push back. Genetics is just a starting point . If a kid starts early in life. Has a good nutritional diet, picks up water throws out caffeine and sugar. Get plenty of sleep. And is in the gym pitting the work in on the court on the daily that will cout as the exercise. All with promotes growth. If he does that early he will have plenty of time to maximize his growth befor his growth plates fuse. The athleticism will come with good nutrition and lifting/ plyometrics.. me being a late bloomers that lived a regular kids life was 5'5" tall when I entered highschool. And ended up 6ft tall. My son who has been doing all the mentioned above since he was 7 years old is currently a freshman that is 5' 11" tall in shoes and hasn't hit that main growth spurt. Same Genetics different lifestyle
