No brainer on what I'm using for not only my saddle hunting but my hang on stands too! Great video!

That 1st option is exaclty why i bought them. Plus gonna either get rid of 1 climbing stick or just use the steps in conjunction with my sticks to get higher.

I am doing about the same thing. I have the 5 pack of Wild Edge steps. I use 3 at the base of the tree, 3 Hawk Helium sticks and then put the remaining 2 steps on each side of the top of my 3rd Hawk a few inches higher. I am 18' in the air with this combo. But sometimes the Hawk top step squeaks. I may change it up and use the 3 WE steps at the top. They do not make noise.

Hi Rod! It sounds like you could simplify that system by adding a few more steps to the mix! Thanks for sharing your set up. So interesting how everyone does it just a little differently.

I have the new & improved Perch coming. The Stepps I got a couple of months ago I'm just getting broken in. Putting them to use shooting targets from above in the backyard. I have a strap on stand which doubles as a pulley system on the bottom of it for pulling up my deer hanger. Up higher is a DIY 4 lb. platform that is wider than it is going outward from the 🌳. It is probably more invisible than the perch so I will most likely leave it up high in a 🌳 during hunting season. I will use the Perch with a couple more steps since my setups r all in huge oaks that r 6 to 10 feet in circumference. The Stepps r perfect up high when I transfer from my climbing rope to them instead of a 🌳 stand. I'm going 2 practice with a tether but I do have setups where I will probably just hunt from the climbing rope if it gives me more maneuverability around the 🌳.

Sounds awesome! Good luck this season.

If I understood you right when you attached the second step, having that outside step canted, rather than horizontal, makes a difference in how you’re able to maneuver around and how it feels on your feet, compared to side steps being higher but horizontal. I’m assuming you also canted the outer step on the right. I just ordered the 12-step base pk and the perch. I haven’t been off the ground deer hunting in over 50 years. Having these videos is an invaluable confidence builder. Can’t wait!

Hey Bobby! Love that you're getting back up into the tree. That's what it is all about. Best of luck this season!

For a super light weight option, one Wild Edge step alone is an excellent minimalist platform.
@wildedgeinc.40214 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! That's exactly what I do when I'm going mobile.

This will be my first year in the saddle. I have not decided on a platform or steps yet. I love the ring of steps idea for concealability, maneuverability, and being a minimalist. But I also like the platform for foot comfort and turning in place. Option one seems to bridge the gap. How well does that work on a larger diameter tree? It seems your feet would have to angle out more on a possible uncomfortable angle?
@wildedgeinc.40214 жыл бұрын
On a larger diameter tree, you can use the steps like stirrups and put the heals of your boots on each side. We believe the ring of steps and platforms both have their place in the arsenal, but steps are a great cost effective place to start.

Can the Wild Edge tree steps still be purchased?

In my humble opinion the Wild Edge steps make the climbing sticks a thing of the past. For the run and gun saddle hunter these steps make that hike much more compact especially when using the "kanider and staider" system. I wish I had discovered them first before spending $200.00 bucks on sticks. Now I have both.

@@wildedgeinc.4021 I actually went ahead and bought them and they are great so far I just have to get my spacing between steps down I keep setting them about 2-3 inches too high and have to rest
