from my point of view it would make more sense if you would use the JRB knot, than attach your minirope on that, than pull on it to release the rope from the tree. Because if we are honest, many times it is a pain to get the rope down like you've showed it in this video, especially if the tree has branches.

@@Ajumi- I one sticked using this method for 4 years. I have had one instance where I had trouble retrieving my rope and it was because I got caught in a v right where I was at hunting height. It wouldn’t have mattered what I would have done it was an oversight before rappelling. Thanks for the insight

@@innovatingtheoutdoors i liked your idea with the ohm and tried actually a clothespin for it. :D It works, probably yours is more fancy and convenient, the variation is better for a student like me :D. I am no-sticking by the way, one stick is pretty cool but i don't want to carry the stick (huge walking distances now in winter). I am out hunting in average 6times per week so probably more out trying new stuff than the typical hunter. For gun hoist i love my retractable dog leash (did cut off the handle so it fits into the pouch) since i have that one i never need to think about untangeling anything anymore.

Can you say bungie ball one more time? Love my tether locker. Keep up the good work.

Just girth hitch the tether in its own loop and it's locked...

If you have a large enough loop or eye on one end, send it around the tree normally, in either direction. With the other side of the rope, just form a loop, or byte, and stick it through the center of your loop or eye. Next, with that D-link, or in my case a carabiner, clip it OVER both strands of the loop/eye and BEHIND your byte. Tug/cinch it to the tree. There more than enough friction in that so it won't loosen up. At least not without being intentional about it. Cost you an extra carabiner, easy to do in the dark, gives you someplace to hang stuff, offers a quick disconnect and gives you an extra carabiner for unforeseen" circumstances. (NOTE: Good for a tether, not useful for one-sticking).

I'm a tree care professional and saddle Hunter, and I have to say: the amount of unnecessary gear available is ludicrous. You can accomplish the same thing by learning how to tie a clove hitch.

Problem with that is when you go to rappel down and retrieve your rope.

why would you want to tie a knot when you can just clip this on? you knot guys are weird lol
