These technical tips and tricks are awesome. I find myself way too often getting caught up in transcribing and trying to learn new music theory that I neglect practicing the basics and searching for a better sound, and this was an immediate difference in the sound of my low notes. Thank you!

Hey Pablo! That's awesome. Yeah, those correct tongue positions can fix problems right away. What are you transcribing these days?

I've been playing a tenor for about seven years now. I have not taken any lessons except for watching youtube videos. I am finding from watching your online lessons that I am playing properly in many respects. I am a poorly disciplined player. Mostly I turn on my favorite jazz station and play along. I try to match the tone of the players I admire. In the process of doing so I guess I discovered how it's done. BTW, I recommend that new players get a teacher. I wish I had started taking lessons about 60 years ago. You see, I am seventy now.
@ScottPaddock6 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Glad the videos are helping you. Yeah, I always recommend a teacher, especially in the beginning, because it gives you direction and solves issues very quickly.

@@ScottPaddock one of the things you have helped me understand is how to use chord progressions while playing a single note instrument. I play with a group- guitar, bass, congas and my flute and sax. The guitar player doesn't like to solo because he can't hear the chords. I'm gonna try using your suggestions of outlining chords so he can hear them and build a solo. I am amazed at your skills Scott. Not only are you a monster player but you can precisely name exactly what you're going to play and how you are gonna play it. Occasionally I have a lucky accident and blow a killer solo. I do hear the chord progression and play off of it but I need to learn how to do so intentionally.Thanks for everything brah.

Scott thanks very much for your knowledge and experience. I am at work now but cant wait to get home and try this out. I can play all the notes but sometimes not consistantly and thought that it was due to the sax not being warmed up properly or that something was up with the reed. It may be a little bit of all of the above.

i really am learning a LOT from your videos, can you give us an idea on where is the best site to get backing tracks and music sheets for the new songs . also what device like mixer , mic and software do you use when recording any covers.
@ScottPaddock6 жыл бұрын
Hey - I use backing tracks I get off of KZbin. I almost never buy sheet music for new songs. I listen to the song and figure it out. I use a SHURE clip on beta 98, and plug it into a TASCAM 2X2 interface, and record everything using REASON.
