You forgot one more common scam that is Property Scams ... There are lots of property sales people who will try to sell you JB properties. They will tell that JB properties is 'cheap' compared to Singapore Properties. But you are in Malaysia not Singapore. They try to sell you JB properties at prices of prime areas in KL like Mont Kiara. Beware!

How is it that if you pump higher RON than RON 97 is a scam?

Because alot of people mistake the higher grade RON97 as the normal RON97. Price difference almost double

Hence, in my humble opinion, your choice of word is inappropriate since it's not the fault of fuel retailers that motorists are ignorant of the difference between RON 97 and the higher RON graded fuel.
