i think what made the train thing so good was that it was actually a game. it wasn't just a horror story where the only "playing" you do is walk around and progress the story. there was actually a game you had to play and think about. also made it fun to watch. really well done!

I think that's part of what makes it even better though. You go into the game with the concept of the original Thomas the Train in your mind, so you're not ready for the shank. Might be possible to recreate that though with the right aesthetic at the start of the game though
