Josh, great work. You are incredibly skilled, and appreciate you taking time to make these tutorials. Only suggestion I’d give is to slow down. The tutorials move so fast that they’re hard to follow for beginners. But again, thank you for taking the time to put these together. Cheers!

The segment in 2:47 where you apply the motion tile and apply keyframe seems to have freezed. But regardles, the simplicty and the outcomes of these examples shocked me! Thanks for the great content again!!!!

Hi there @Sounduckfilm How do we do for making the circles to move slowly? Thanks again for your amazing tutorial!
@trashasaurus3 жыл бұрын
Hey nice tutorial, but I do have a couple questions, specifically about the dot background. 1. At 9:18 when you say "you can add a little bit of rotation to this" how did you do it? I assumed you pre-composed the background effect then just hit R and rotated it after, but when I do that the the corners go off of the frame? I then figured maybe you used a camera layer but that didn't work either. So suffice to say this has me really stumped. 2. The dots in your final product move much faster than mine, mine are definitely animated but it's a very slow crawl not sleek and brisk like yours. I went over the tutorial multiple times and am pretty confident I followed it correctly but maybe I missed something? Any help you could possible provide would be greatly appreciated, been binging a lot of your videos trying to step up my AE game and you have definitely helped me a lot so thank you for that!

For the rotation, don't pre-comp the dots layers. Center their anchor points in the center of the comp. Either keyframe a slight rotation to each layer or parent both to a null and rotate the null.
@trashasaurus3 жыл бұрын
@@bladerunnerjp Ah okay, went with the null layer and it worked, thank you so much! Kinda wish he'd of mentioned how he did that instead of just going "add a little rotation" but I'm not gonna disparage a guy for a free tutorial on KZbin that was ultimately still very helpful. Thanks!

I followed the same instructions as yours, thank you

Hi Josh, are we allowed asking for a specific tutorial ? I have a good one with the Xmas season coming up. I'd love to know how to scroll a background photo of a snow scene, so it can loop or repeat for as long as I want ( for the length of a song ) so something with snow, trees etc, but it loops, or "scrolls" in the background while other stuff is happening. I wonder if you could do that for us. Thanks for considering it ! 😁
@frostythebeerman63243 жыл бұрын
P.S. - if you go to Steve Perry's KZbin channel ( former lead singer of Journey ) he has a nice one there. -- You can see what they have done, a scrolling background with old family photos. This is an awesome project to share over the holidays with your own families... see here: --> Steve Perry - "The Christmas Song" (Visualizer) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ66d6iaZ513bbc

I love the idea! I kind of do whatever idea can be easily accomplished in the moment. I will do a Christmas tutorial this year like I've been doing for the past couple of years. I would look through some of my older content and see if you can pull this off now. I have tutorials on photos, repeated vector backgrounds, snow. Check out this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fITOnYGrp7RlnKs Also here's for the photos: kzbin.infosearch?query=photo

@@SonduckFilm Hi Josh ! Thanks for the reply ! 😁 Thanks for the links, watching one right now. Yeah, if you have the time, it would be very cool tutorial ! Like Xmas music, people always come back to look for stuff like this every season. There are actually not many Christmas related tutorials out there, so it adds a little bit to your KZbin real estate portfolio too. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply Josh, it's much appreciated ! 😁 🙏

I am new to Adobe After Effects and have to say your video is very hard for a beginner to follow along. You are using too many short cuts, which do not show how you are getting to them on the screen. I also cannot figure out why the motion tile is not causing any motion to happen, after watching your video and retrying 5x, I still cannot figure it out. It is like there is a step missing there or you are using a short cut or the video is freezing there or something. Very difficult to keep up with you as a beginner.

Exactly. Same for me. I posted a comment with a few of the key missing points but it looks like he can't take criticisms and just deleted my comment.
