These short game shots are a game within the game of golf. Technique is so important. Learning these techniques is critical for all golfers. This man is a master teacher and obviously a splendid player. He knows of what he speaks. Such a privilege to get GOOD information. Unlike the nonsense information I was given by some PGA pros that I wasted time and money taking lessons from.

A fantastic, concise, yet comprehensive lesson on 3 types of short shorts. Chris Ryan is the best golf coach on KZbin without a doubt.

Excellent video. Thanks to your demonstrations and a lot of practice my short game is getting better. That is where I spend 80% of my practice time now. I still have some work to do but I have a lot more confidence around the greens.

Brilliant! I really need to drill the third option. The more wrist movement is key I am sure.

Definitely one of your best videos. Loved this lesson and your ending when you mentioned we will all miss greens. It is part of the game and if we practice these shots we will definitely lower scores. Its not how you star but how you finish the hole (:

great video Chris like how you explain in detail how to hit each shot ...for me when I play the first two shots you showed I use my putting stroke it works for me the lob shot is fun to practice to see just how high you hit it ......if more people spent time on their short game at the range instead of banging driver all the time their scores would dropped ....I spend most of my time on short game and putting ...only about 20 mins on the rest of my game ......keep up the good work cheers Chris

Thanks Michael and couldn’t agree more, so many of our shots are played inside 100yds 👍

Re: the last part of your comment. My scores really suffered when all I was practicing were my drives. A few weeks focusing on my short game w/Chris's help and my scores have really dropped. Of course my drives have now gone south, but it's almost been worth it.

Hey Chris - As we approach the new year, I'm wondering what goals people are setting for themselves? I achieved my goal for 2018 of averaging less than 100 per round (and now have 2 rounds of 89 after consistently shooting in the 105 range in my first year), much thanks to your trainings. I'm evaluating what goals to set for this coming year. GIR %? Fairways hit %? Average putts? Overall score? It would be encouraging to hear what type of goals others set for themselves.

Great video and well explained Chris.. As a beginner golfer I'm not too bad at the pitch and run but even though I have a 60 degree lob wedge, I really struggle with the last type of shot.
@garrettnobles89566 жыл бұрын
Paul Radford main thing I see with amateurs struggling with that shot is they try to help the ball up. The bend in their knees increase during the swing and their head goes away from the target. This moves the bottom of the swing back and they blade it.

Or, we decelerate and dump it in the bunker! Practice and full commitment are keys, but not so easy to actually perform.

Chris I really enjoy your videos and you explain it really well! Can you please make a video for driving irons and do you tilt when you hit those?
@timothyw76636 жыл бұрын
Really excellent video. Particularly liked the fact that you mentioned that the high shot required a level of commitment not as necessary with the lower shots. Boy did that ring true! LOL

Hi Chris. Thanks for the good drills. I have never thought of opening the wedge from the grass like in bunkers. But I will for sure give it a try because I chunk the grass way too often from 30-80 yards. I have tried with a chipping iron, but it doesn’t really work for me. And many in the local club says it is no-go and call it an old-man-wedge 😊 Have you got any vids where you use such one and what’s your oppinion of the chipper?
@Geep17785 жыл бұрын
Jan Pedersen it helps a ton! Especially in thick rough when it usually grabs the club and dinks the shot. Remember to club up too. But messing w loft by opening face and trajectory by moving ball up or down stance is fun. I made it part of my range sessions. When I’m really feeling dangerously ill open or close my stance and work on my bubba shots

So I finally got my chipping stroke down pat and my iron swings compressed w divots... but now my pitch game got harder because I’m hitting all my wedges more solidly and hitting that 70 yarder is a sob lol. But I want to chip everything now and just club up and roll those puppies up to the pin when possible.
@TonyHammer615 жыл бұрын
With Option 1 why would you not use a mid iron and "bump and run" it - making it a lower percentage tariff shot?
