Mark, excellent advice. I got a gut feeling recently about my husbands job just based on what he told me. We sat down and spoke and it was time to go. He found another job and is very happy in his new job/family balance as we have young kids. He enjoys his work but he works to live not lives to work.😊

When you cry in the car every morning on your way to work that’s your sign. Sadly I know this from first hand experiences

I was going to say ‘when you leave work at the end of the day and cry all the way home’. Same thing and yes I too have experienced that

This is a good video for DV survivors to know. They often forget to leave a bad situation, cus they have no where else to go. The leaving causes more pain than staying but the uncomfortable feels never leave until they go somewhere else. This causes them to be in a spiral of running towards and away from unreliable relationships. Thanks for offering this freely.

Oh in case you're unaware what DV stands for, its domestic violence.

Scoring 23/27 on the PHQ-9 depression questionnaire is my sign. Also spending working hours on LinkedIn job search.

Hello. Appreciate you both and the content. Just thought I would give my situation as an example. I've been at my job for almost a year and a half now and I know it's time to go because of a toxic work culture but I need to get some dental work done and some medical visits with the insurance that they provide. It is killing me to stay there but I'm trying to stick to the plan 💪

If the dental benefits are keeping you at the company, then try to switch your thinking from 'I work for this company', to 'For the rest of the time I'm here, this company is working *for me* '

Thank you Mark Bowden. I can totally relate to your advice. I quit my job, infact career when I stopped enjoying what I was doing. I felt that I was faking it

I take great pride in my work I’m autistic and ADHD and for me when I just don’t care about the work that’s my sign to go so my previous company I had that signed for a long time. Obviously my work was still to the best I could do, but I had a very toxic work environment with a very toxic manager That I had nowhere to go and I had bills that I had to pay with no support so I had to stick it until I found something but I’ve been bullied on that one and in my current job I’m starting to get the signs because I’ve got a little bit of a toxic environment with two bosses who have not made enough adaptation for me and they keep on chopping and changing which isn’t great for me because I tried to get into a routine and trying to get stuff sorted and then I’m getting stuff done to me and I’m like I haven’t got time to do my current workload. What makes you think I’m gonna be able to do this?

This reminds me of a job I had it. I worked there briefly for two years, and I knew the manager boss at the time wanted to fire me so I looked in to see if I could retire, and I saw the handbook and I was able to retire, and that’s what I did. When you know you know Mark, you found out because you saw them say in writing replace mark. But me it was my gut instinct. I did something I defended myself And the boss didn’t appreciate that. So he look for a way to try to fire me. He also wanted to have the taste to fire a client from the agency which I’ve belong to since I was a kid. This agency was the Canadian national Institute for the blind/CNIB. Though it was my dream to work there, and I did it lasted two years. All I can say is that particular dream of mine was fulfilled, even though it was short-lived. Later!

The absolute moment you ask that question is the moment you know if there's anything you can change. Lots of times, we aren't in charge of our own careers in a job, and if you can't make a change in your daily production, it's time to go... for your mental health as well as your physical health... stress is an ugly animal.
