I LOVE these techniques..! They make me want to dust off my paints and find some paper today..! I bought watercolors years ago, thinking I was going to love it, which I did, however, I felt like I was really bad at watercolor, so I put them away, and haven't bothered with it since. One of the problems that I seemed to have was not being "flowy" enough, and also when mixing paints, I didn't like to make a lighter color "dirty" and I don't mean on the paper. I just mean, in the pans, lol. If you dip into the yellow, then want to mix it with green, then back to yellow, do you rinse your brush every time? As in, dip it into yellow, rinse, dip it into green, rinse, then back to yellow? I'm sure I'm just thinking about this WAY too much, lol.

Thank you so much for your kind words-I’m so happy these techniques are inspiring you to pick up your paints again! 💖✨ You’re not alone in feeling like watercolor can be tricky at first, but I promise, with a little practice and some playful exploration, it can become such a joyful experience. As for keeping your colors “clean” in the pans-this is a great question, and I love that you’re thinking about it! Here’s what I do, If I know I’ll be mixing colors, I usually grab a separate mixing palette or the lid of my pans so I can dip into my yellow or green without worrying about “dirtying” them. If I’m dipping straight into the pans, I rinse my brush quickly before switching colors. It doesn’t have to be perfect-just a quick swoosh in the water jar and a dab on the paper towel keeps things clean enough. 😊 And here’s a secret tip: even if a color gets a little “dirty,” or "muddy" it’s usually easy to laft out with a damp brush or a clean tissue. It’s all part of the process, and it’s okay if it’s not perfect. You’re definitely not overthinking this! I know I can be thte queen of over thinking! It shows how much you care about your art, and that’s such a beautiful thing. I’d encourage you to let go of the pressure for things to be “flowy” or “perfect” and just let the colors do their thing. Watercolor loves to surprise us, and those little “oops” moments often turn into magic! I can’t wait to hear about your painting adventures- You’ve got this! 🎨💖
