This is my go to for bass lessons and information. I appreciate your videos because they have really helped me overcome a lot of hurdles. I don’t have access to a bass teacher so I’m forced to use whatever I can find online, your website has been a lifesaver. Thank you.

Great lesson, simple but deceptively difficult! I am going to run this one every day for a while. Really appreciate your teaching, Mark.

This is really, REALLY needed; is there a particular course that this and more of this is worked on, or does this beg a NEW course creation?

The reading course has a complete breakdown of all this and much more.

Great video, this definitely reduced my anticipation of notes in general, but especially those sixteenth notes. Thank you!

I'm probably going to get your lessons and go from the beginning because some things I hear leave my mind blank. My friend Lucas picked up bass and learned everything by ear, something I can't do so it'll take longer for me to learn but my skills might be better, for example I can somewhat do a arpeggio and he can't.

The only bass player I'd give my money too, so I can learn. I also have a electric guitar that I'll eventually pick up, it's a washburn. I currently have 1 Ibanez basse and a bass that I'm currently rebuilding. Ibanez Roadster II, and a Cort Bass

Do you have and lessons on Triplets?? I for the life of me can't figure out a triplet, my old high school band director explained it to me once but I didn't understand, playing baritone was easier lol 😂

Good lesson Mark, counting, reading, timing and rhythms etc, don't seem to be something that a lot of newer players and some older players, pay much attention too. With players these days having access to YT with so many, how to play a song videos, which normally just has a tab with someone playing it, with out any instructions on how and why etc, like the James Jamerson breakdown you recently did. I see lots of Bass or guitarists really struggle with songs in a jam or practice when even something reasonably simple as the examples you've shown here come along and they don't understand why they are having so much difficulty playing along. It's normally because they haven't learnt to count even in its most basic form. Also, I haven't seen your Fender MM jazz out for a while. Is it the weight issue? Cheers

It’s a precision, isn’t it? Cheers

@@pakillo92 yes, I think so, but I was referring to the MM jazz.

I have always felt that have good ear for breaking down parts, but struggle to understand what exactly what it is that I am doing. I see now that I need to count out the beats and subdivisions. Such a simple idea that has eluded me. Thank you for the valuable insight.

Holy smokes is this depressing. This counting thing is near impossible. I think I may just go back to being an audience member. I know I am rhythm challenged, but this lesson totally confirms it in a most painful demonstration.
