Yes this is true. In addition, this is still a preferred position for labor/child birth in many cultures, wherein the birth giver has some kind of support for the upper body (such as a rope that is attached to a Philly mechanism that can hold the birthgiver's weight), because the muscles of the abdominal wall and the pelvic floor work along with gravity which can in some cases reduce length of hard labor

I have slept on my mattress on the floor for many many years so I am constantly getting up and down from that position and that helps me because I've got some bad injuries around my tailbone the connective tissue was completely torn. So that helps a lot.

Interesting. I was having a ton of pain in my tailbone. For unrelated reasons I ditched my box springs and put my mattress on the floor. It's been a few months and I just told my family the other day how my tailbone pain has seemgly all gone away on its own, I wonder now if having the mattress on the floor is helpful.

I got a spondy l5-s1 and I seemed to have adopted a posteriorally rotated pelvis while sittting, which increase compression on my pudendal nerve, especially the rectal branch. I can do a full squat without a yoga block, but in my special case, sitting on a block, even a nice soft one would likely exacerbate my symptoms. Just sharing my anecdotal experience and knowledge since this issue has a serious lack of information regarding it. I enjoy your videos and I am implementing your protocols into rehabbing my pelvic floor and having some success, I just wanted to share that perhaps for some people, sitting on the block may be too much for them. Your tricep dominant exercise would be much better for someone like me or anyone that may have entrapment at the ST / SS ligaments.

So, the last example, if we don't use our upper trunk muscles on lift, which muscle group are we using for the ascent? I ask because the first part was about relaxing the inner thighs and the pelvic floor, so is the last exercise the opposite and that is where we should be tightening the pelvic floor/hip flexor/glutes and quads?

I absolutely agree that being able to squat like you showed with feet flat, even pushing your knees apart is good for your body. I've started doing it along with other stretches for my lower back pain... but I thought I heard you're supposed to strengthen your pelvic floor so I just got confused about relaxing it I guess🤔
