So often we have forgotten that simple techniques are the most effective. Thank you for demonstrating the techniques.

The simplest techniques are always the most reliable when things get serious. There is a huge difference between "simple" and "simplistic".

Sensei sampson, this works by applying pressure in the sides of the neck or direct in the addams apple? I hitted this succesfully today but I don't know if i did right, cause I wasted too much energy (eri guruma jime)

Eri Guruma Jime targets the throat and is therefore a choke. Congrats for applying it!

Sode guruma jime, not eri guruma jime

I differentiate it from Sode Guruma Jime as my right hand is grabbing the lapel, and the left hand is grabbing the sleeve. If I was grabbing both sleeves then I would have called it an Sode Guruma Jime.

I'm Sorry, but these strangles are basic in other styles like jiu-jitsu for example (white belt technique), i'm nota saying that you don't know what you are doing, in fact, i learn a Lot seeing your videos, but i hope much more of a judo master ne waza.

Plínio junior Thank for the comment. I know these are basic strangles! That was the whole point! If you pay attention to the title of the video, it says 3 "Simple" strangles, I am quite clearly stating that these are not advanced techniques. Not everybody who watches my tutorials are advanced in Ne-Waza and are in fact beginners or white belts. Therefore it's important that I release videos that cater for more inexperienced judoka to help them learn and understand judo. I teach judo to everybody, not just high grades. Also remember that even though you may have learnt this technique before, it is never a bad thing to revise or practice it again!

Sampson Judo sure Sensei! I'M Sorry about my comment, you're right! do you think these strangles can be used in competitions? I'm asking because, judges never let ne waza continues! I'm from Brazil, And o Just pratice né waza, cause i'm jiu-jitsu blackbelt, i Just started judo, And this excessive competition thinking disturbes me...

Plínio junior no need to apologise! yes, these will work in competition. I have used them myself many times. I will never show something that doesn't work. In IJF judo there is a problem whereby many referees will stop Ne-Waza prematurely. The only thing I can suggest is that when in Ne-Waza stay active and show you are working on a technique and hopefully the referee will let you continue. I personally work under the WJF whereby Ne-waza is strongly encouraged so I know that my judoka will have plenty of time to work into this technique.
