Thanks for the inspiring techniques. For those that didn't notice, Teela is using analogous colors for this (colors that are close to each other on the color wheel). This helps avoid the paint from mixing to brown.

Teela, I love you. You've shown me what I have done by accident and could not reproduce! All because I didn't understand/know what I was doing"guess you could call them happy accidents" But knowing how to reproduce these effects ... Wonderful.

This was awesome...I have never painted before and I have 10 tubes of acrylic paints, a 24x36 canvas and 5 brushes...didn't know where to start until I watched your video! I wanted stripes but had no idea how to combine these colors..thank you thank you!! Now for the cardboard...LOVE IT! And you are a great instructor

I'm with you Gail. I am working on my very first canvas (started with 'kindness rocks') and have learned so much from the youtube tutorials. I'm going to recommend checking out 'The Art Sherpa's Big Art Quest too. I've learned about the different brushes, mixing mediums and types of paint to use, techniques, etc.. Good luck and I'm sure you'll do great!

Teela, you are a fine teacher. These were very helpful, clear and easy to implement for students. And indeed, note keeping in the cool or warm colors helps to prevent the "brown" mudding.

The 1st stroke using the big brush it looks like a lake with the reflection of the trees or bushes. The 2nd one with the long piece of cardboard looks like a person running, and the second part of the long cardboard looks like a beach with red water and rocks on the sand. The last stroke with the little cardboard looks like a lake with the reflection of lights or floating lanterns. I love these tricks

nice video....for newbies: put your brushes straight into shallow water (bristles downward) if you are not going to use them again fairly soon, otherwise they will dry out rock hard, super fast (especially if the air con is on!) and then they are useless for anything except the rubbish bin... even if they are cheap brushes, this is just good practice - and less stuff in landfill :)

I love how easily you explain and show the techniques. I bought a painting but there’re two colors that are a little off... think I’m going to use these techniques to cover over the parts I want to change. Once I’m satisfied, what kind of glossy covering can I use so it doesn’t look like I painted over it? Something to mask it. Thanks in advance for you input.
