It's not that expensive I mean yeah it is expensive to a certain point but when you get everything that offers happiness it at the expense of two hundred bucks for something that will give you internet for your whole house. First Thanks for the Support, you would need to be able to show the router IMEI the same as the phone IMEI you give to visible. Check the compatible form at www.visible.com/shop/compatibility with the IMEI you have now that's working and if it is compatible it will work with the above statement on their Verizon towers if not you will need to get a new phone as we are having issues trying to make a phone compatible on the new system.

This works! Had 5 devices on it last night, streaming netflex, wife playing your facebook game, one logged into the mofi, and one performing network speed. All with the MOFI setting on my dinning room table, in a house with metal siding and a metal roof... pulling speeds of 2mb to a max of 10mb, pings around 100. Putting a Yagi on it this weekend... very cool.. If it's not working for you make sure the gold side is up on your sim card... it will click in. Don't ask me how I know... with the proper antenna this would rock. Oh I have the 7.

Hi Bill, I have been thinking of purchasing a MOFI 4500 but before I do I have 2 questions. I ask because I have used my Visible SIM with both Verizon Mifi models AC791L and a 8800L also with a WiFi Repeater as well as from my Android Phones Hot Spot and USB Tethering. If I connect to one device I get Good speeds up to 60 Mbps Down and 20 Mbps Upload on that 1 Device however ALL of my other devices only get the 5 Mpbs Capped speed on my Download and Upload speeds 1. Can you tell me which MOFI 4500 Version you are using the SIM 4 or SIM 7? 2. What Download speeds do your other devices like your 2nd or 3rd Device get from the MOFI and is there a difference from the WiFI or Ethernet connection?

@@187LEO I have the SIM 4. Your second question- depends on the day I have gotten over 30 with my phone connected to my mofi. There are a lot of variables to consider.. The tower, the distance to and how the point of entry is pointed or setup. How your external antenna's pointed, what type of antennas, I'm running the parabolic and a yagi secondary. where I live it is very hilly so topology plays a part. So your mileage may very.. I purchased my Mofi direct from the manufacture, the first one was the sim 7, I returned it and purchased the sim 4 because I wanted aggregation. DO NOT throw away your box or anything in it if you are just testing Mofi will charge you if it is not returned the exact same way as it came. In closing if your looking for a guarantee that it will work for you as it has for me. Well you won't get that from me, your mileage may vary. Too many variables, all I know is this works for me.

For those watching who may not know. When running the Cell Band Scanner and you see your results keep in mind that (dBm) is your signal strenth. Band: B2 in this case was -96 (dBm) Diversity: -97 (dBm). The lower the negative number the better the signal. Depending on the Network being accessed 3G, 4G, ect. these numbers change. Obvsioulsy Visible is a 4G LTE network and having anything greater than -70 (e.g. -50) would provide a pretty reliable connection. Optimally higher than that would be considered an excellent connection. The same is true if you were trying to optimize your home Wifi using some type of Wifi analyzer.

I used this setup for 2 years with no issues and they finally ended my service this December. Got a email saying I violated there terms of service (which I’ve seen happening to a lot of people lately) and they closed my account. Well I just made a new one and nothing, there just not closing accounts but black listing the mofi imei number as well so there useless on any Verizon service. If your still having no issues enjoy it why you can because there looking!

@@CouchPotatoCafe The IMEI number on the MOFI4500's can also be changed though, using the MOFI website's Diagnostic Firmware. Using that IMEI Generator you talked about in your other video on how to get a non-Visible compatible smart phone to work on the Visible network, my MOFI is now a Visible compatible smart phone. It just took me a little over a year to finally make myself do the firmware flashing (it's a pain with long slow reboots of the MOFI, and it pisses me off that when you click "buttons" in the MOFI firmware to do something there are these LONG pauses where it looks like your click didn't take but it's actually doing something and clicking the "button" again just messes the thing up.... so click once, and go take a bathroom break or something while it silently "thinks to itself" awhile).

I found a way for faster using the same router, take the paddle antennas off and but then outside on the roof and then use good low lost cables from the antennas to the router i was getting 15mps down and 5mps up! But with the new setup i get 55mps down and 25mps up now!!!!

Update: I came across your video in August, ordered the R2 phone swap kit and sent them an old junk phone i had laying around so i could have internet on my boat i live on. Ordered the Mofi4500 and got it up and running and its been running perfectly since up until November 10th, it was cancelled on me. I have since ordered a 2nd Sim and running it as hotspot in an old Samsung phone I had due to it giving me better reliable internet compared to the ZTE phone. I was only able to connect 1 single device to the ZTE phone, but the Samsung phone i can have 5 things connected to it.

The mooring ball i am parked at with the mofi i was averaging around 25mb download, the cell phone im only getting 3-4mb at best, huge difference in quality of internet going back to hotspot. Something i did learn about since lastnight someone informed me about that works is using the samsung phone in dex mode. It doesn't see the data use as mobile hotspot and i am seeing full speeds again. I connected it to my laptop with the Samsung dex software and linked it so I can see the phone apps on my laptop and im able to get 20+mb speeds this way....Ya i live on a Gemini 105 catamaran that i converted to electric drive i picked up extremely cheap due to diesel engine onboard was bad. So I bought it, sold the diesel engine stuff for parts and installed dual 20hp electric outboards on the back.

Hello, it has been hit and miss with many viewers, for example I have two Identical phones with the same firmware etc. one works and the other doesn't. I have been told since this is hurting verizon visible sales they are working on it, but unfortunately they use visible as a test lab on how to track those using this system for evil instead of good. Did the upgrade SIM yesterday afternoon, and no joy in my MOFI 4500 V2. Reverted to using my cell phone's hotspot (cell phone barely gets signal though due to distance to closest tower, and frankly it's VERY inconvenient to use the phone hotspot). There is some diagnostic firmware for the MOFI that I've heard will allow us to change the IMEI number of the MOFI.... I'm looking into that now. Arghhh!

Just a quick shout out to Couch Potato Cafe and all you folks on here. I post and comment to other posts because this thread has helped me so much. I'm not a techie by any stretch, but I got the mofi running and it's been great since October. What I couldn't find out on this thread I then called mofi cust support and BAM! I was up and running! I'm only averaging about 75-80 gigs a month and my speeds (on band 2 btw) hover around 25-30mps down and around 20mps up. No gaming for me but I do a lot of LIVE videos and have had zero issues! I'm more than thrilled I get this for $25/month! I also have my cell phone with visible and average around 15-20 gigs a month on it. So far, everything is good! Thank you everyone!

Hey Couch Potato THANKS for the video! I'm using the SIM7 Combo and your setup looked a little different but I was able to adapt it to my setup. For anyone else reading, the SIM7 was recommended for use with Verizon and I have been very happy with it. Tweaking these settings will take your internet to a much higher level.

Good morning been looking at these devices on eBay! Since it's a year after you posted this video how is your service working with visible with this Sim 4 Mofi device! Saw some videos where the sim 7 model has a setting where you can hide your service to look like it's phone streaming instead of being used as hotspot data! I have been doing a lot of research on this SGM; and as a retired USA SFC, I do my due diligence! The best way to use it on the road is to scan for the best signal and lock in on the freq that gives you the fastest speed, if you have t mobile get a MoFi sim7 it has T-mobile's band 71 600 mhz, but several freq's will show up on each different cell tower, some will be fast in one location and slow in another, so you will want to reset it at each location, if you want fast internet. This will also help isolate aggregation to resist the modem from looking for other bands and wasting resources.

UPDATE: Every since I changed from Band 13 to Band 2, I've had CONSISTENT 25+mps down and 20+mps up. BTW, I'm THRILLED with this! Just to remind people, when on Band 13, there were times where I was getting below 1 down and around 5 up. Even though it seems I get a stronger signal with Band 13, it wasn't producing much. Oh, and just so everyone knows, I've used between 65-70 gigs a month for the last 2 months. So far, I'm LOVING THIS MOFI THING! Thank you!

Band 13 is used by Verizon to provide long range connectivity in more rural areas where towers may be fewer and farther between. While the signal strength may remain higher in fringe areas on this band, the trade off is that the data speed will be quite slow. Other bands like 2, 5, and 66 are considerably faster (depending on network congestion) but the range is shorter.

Looking at going to one of these. I am not really in a rual area but just outside of range for a good home internet....like 6 houses away! I have att right now for home wifi but I only get 10mbps but clear view to 2 cell towers and get great service. And speed test on my phone with Verizon I'm getting 115-140mbps.

Hey thanks for joining in, it sounds like the AT&T modem could use and outdoor antenna but if your getting great with Verizon then your Visible should work pretty good but remember that Visible is a secondary and not the priority signal so it will most likely not get the same speeds as Verizon but a whole lot less money. Visible wireless allows only 1 connected device at a time while using hotspot. This is using my old s8+ phone. Also, hot spot connection closes every so often even though settings in phone are set to always on. 2 questions... can more then one device connect using the mofi14500? Also. Don't know why everyone is going threw all this hassle and expense. There's a couple of cheap, 40 to 60 bucks, wireless routers out there, RAV being one, that easily hooks up to a visible hot spot, on the phones you get from them. Allows you to connect several device's to your hot spot/modem phone, via the wireless router. Sim stays in the phone, so it only recognizes the one device, wireless router, connected to your hot spot, just as visible requires. My son and I each have a visible hot spot phone, with router. We live WAY out in the sticks, we average 110 ping, 17 down, 8 up, without any antennas. Data speeds on the phones are more then double that. Nearest tower is 3+ miles away. Beats the hell out of that satellite crap we were forced to use the first 2 years out here. ;-)

Yes, it does actually. But you have to change your IMEI number to a Visible compatible cell phone IMEI number and also change the APN to "vzwinternet". It takes a bit to do flashing the Diagnostic firmware to change the IMEI number then flashing back to the latest firmware then making the APN change (with long reboots between each step), but yes the darn thing really does still work with Visible friends. I'm using my MOFI 4500 SIM4 model to post this comment right... NOW!

Great Video...But, before spending big bucks on a Mofi4500 I would suggest checking your speed on the Visible phone at different times of the day and night. I live in a small town but it's a snow bird destination and my speed during prime time was 300k to 3.0 megs. Now after midnight it was quite fast. Visible is unlimited, BUT it is networked manged and Verizon gives Visible customers the lowest priority on the net. By the way I can see the Verizon tower form my yard!

Good point, and yes be sure it will work for you. I do however know that the priority is not the lowest on the net it depends on the tower congestion in your particular area. Where I live we are a big AT&T area so the Verizon tower is used less so the priority of my service is usually first.

There are also a number that will just cancel the service stating your using it in a way against their user agreement. As far as Visible and The Mofi, I am still using it and at times it is open full data and then goes to the 5 up and down

I put the VPN on each of my devices so not to rely on router doing it and I also want it when I go mobile it goes where I go. I have not seen or heard of Visible throttling anyone so far unless something is not set up correctly but this could be a first. Be sure you set TTL linux-2 65 also

Ran a couple of speed tests and it was not being throttled, so I changed it back to Linux 2-65 and still not being throttled. I just bought a MOFI4500 and going through the set up, I was not able to manually input VSBLINTERNET. There was only a drop-down box. However, Visible was an option in the selection. When I selected Visible, the correct APN and ISP TTL were filled in. Maybe a new firmware update?

So im a little confused. So you buy the Mofi router and hook it up. Got it. Then you buy a Visible sim card and with some finesse, you get 4g internet in your home. My question is how do you get the sim card without buying a phone?

Hi Cody, if you have a compatible phone (check their website) and activate sim as per their instructions, once activated put in Mofi. If you don't have a phone you will need to barrow a friends phone for a few minutes and activate sim. It won't harm or funk up the phone it will go back to their service with their sim like nothing happened.

Hi, I do tell you exactly what to enter and when I said that it was the reason I blurred my information that's all. You cannot change the IMEI of the router, serial number or the phone number on the sim. You will need to enter what I show you in the video and don't over think it because it really is easy and follow along and be sure you spell everything as shown. YOU CAN DO IT! Here's a silly question. First of all, I set up the Mofi and it seems to work well! My question, could I, somehow, set up an older router to be used as some sort of wifi extender? I don't even know if I'm wording this correctly. The mofi doesn't seem to have the same wifi range as my other routers. So, I figured why not turn it into just a wifi extender. I could hook into it with those TP Link Powerline things. I already have several. Thoughts?

Yes, absolutely I have done this to actually boost DL speeds and distance by connecting a Gaming router to the MOFI and use the Gaming router as your connection and the MOFI as the modem

I would suggest using firefox browser, chrome and edge seem to want to help you do the things you don't want to do.

Mofi pulls signal just like a cell phone does unless you do a band lock. You can use the website to fine the best tower where ever you are staying at www.cellmapper.net/

I’m using a mofi with a $100 att grandfathered plan now , if you were me , would you cancel and try visible? I know the deal , nothings definite , but what would you do if you were me? Thank you for including me in your party pay. Hope your $5/m referral discount went through. Anyway is MOFI4500 the one I need to purchase? Where to purchase it? In my area signal is bad, 2-3 bar the best, 1 bar sometime, sometime no signal. I had to place my phone at focus of satellite dish, point satellite toward nearest Verizon tower miles away. May be Visible/Verizon is not for my area. As now I am getting 0.5-3 download speed on average. Pretty bad compare to my prior carrier. Are there any other equipment can help receiving signal? They do have cell boosters such as Wilson that come with high gain antennas but without being there I can't tell you much more. Try cellmapper.net to find the best towers for your area!
