I'm about two minutes in... but I'm loving that couch/living space. I love my truck camper but sometimes you just wanna plop down and relax! I love how you point out things that might be inconvenient. It's so important to weigh pros/cons before a purchase like this.

Love the Jayco Jay Feather Micro and it's the perfect length and towing capacity for me. I agree with the shower being too small...good idea Mike! Just use the kitchen sink :-) I also really like that they are doing more of the couch/recliners instead of kitchen dinettes. The second and third trailers are a no go for me, but I really do appreciate you and Susan's efforts sharing what's available in this size. Take care!!!! xoxo Michelle & Sugar

Just the fact that it has a shower and bathroom is awesome. The idea is to get cleaned up at the end of the idea and you can do it safely inside of the camper. I think it's awesome

Really appreciate what you and Susan do. Thanks for all the research, time and effort spent to help us learn more about what's out there. I wish you two would do a content segment strickly on small boondocking travel trailers, with kitchen+bath, that focuses strickly on off grid sustainability. Trailers that have the most solar, battery capacity (amp hrs.) and best battery type. Many trailers come pre wired for solar, but a segment on trailers that come with a decent "permanently mounted" solar array, 12 volt appliance's, and lighter weight high amp hr "lithium" batteries would be much appreciated. Personally, I don't want to leave my urban environment, on a trip, only to set up a trailer next to other trailers at a congested camping area. Some camp sites, with shore power and H2O, are even closer to one another than you are to neighbors at home. I find the thought of getting away from the hustle and bustle of my house and neighbors less appealing if I'm only going to set up next to noisy new neighbors at a camp site and or state park. Maybe something like, "Best Boondocking Bureau of Land Management Trailers" as a criteria for a segment. Just a thought. Thanks again to you both for your efforts.

From experience, sacrificing a bath vanity to get elbow room in a shower is well worth it. Getting clean comfortably is a huge plus. Even including a wet vanity in the shower layout would be a good compromise.

In the Olympia 18bh it is better to have a bit of space between the stove burners and the side of the fridge. More space allows larger pans to be centered on the burner (and if you are cooking for a family a larger pan is needed). More space also keeps the hot burner away from the combustible side, and away from the side of the fridge (so it doesn't heat up the fridge even more). I'll take a little less counter for the advantages of space between stove and wall/fridge.

I’m totally fine with the jayco shower small and shower curtain. But I’m also small petite person. My hubby is 6ft. I would agree prefer a proper closure but still doable as is. I would still want the bathroom sink toilet and the storage I like it all in one section and would not want to brush my teeth in kitchen. I’m not a fan of wet baths either kinda gross but that’s my opinion Lol. I love this jayco set up and feel they did a great design with it. This is our second jayco. I’m always delighted with their designs and practical storage. We currently own a class A jayco 34g precept. Of course I’m spoiled we glamp with two small 10lbs fur babies. We put in LG all in one washer dryer. Love my Residential refrigerator was another important feature for me with those long haul trips. Love your channel and we love going to RV shows! You are honest and I enjoy seeing the different RV styles. SUVs /Jeeps the weights limits and what could tow them. Thank you !

Hello RVBLOGGER. I like the basic layout of the Olympia sport 18BH. The changes or customization I would consider would be, for me, to remove the bunk beds, remove the bathroom sink, open the bathroom wall to have a longer shower/tub, and have the toilet with a lot of “elbow room”. The kitchen sink could also be smaller as you suggest to provide more countertop surface. I have another question, if you don’t mind. What campers are suitable to tow with smaller vehicles such as a minivan 🚐 please? I’m sure lots of families have minivans or suvs. A camper you could tow with a 6 cylinder minivan would be a good option for a weekend or a few days long camping adventure. Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos! 👍 😊

You're great at tours! Very thorough and complete. Makes it easier to find appropriate trailers to look harder at. One thing...let me pick your brain...I've heard from several folks that sliders are very problematic...prone to malfunctions and breakdowns. that's what makes a fiberglass trailer (simple and easier to manage) so good. Your thoughts on the slider issue...? thanks. Jim
@RVBlogger
@RVBlogger 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jim, We feel that slides definitely can have issues and malfunctions, being something that moves and handles the elements. With that being said, our camper has slides because the added space is important to us. So answer me this. The Jayco 166FBS, how can your MSRP start at 20k and the show has list at 45k with a special (BS) price of 33k. Plus talk there tac ons. Like delivery, cleaning, inspection, sore big toe, fever, Blah, blah, blah. I actually like the RV. It’s the industry that I just hate. Even if it was quote “well equipped”. List should be in the low 30’s and a show price well below that. Could you do a video and share your knowledge/experience with the viewers on best pricing and purchasing techniques. Thanks

The way the prices are now days I can only afford to get a outhouse on wheels. The first one was my favorite if it had walk around bed. That last one would be better if it had two twin beds that can be converted into one & have a pop out bed out the back. I don’t know anyone who uses a microwave on the weekends boondockin. Get rid of it to have more counter space & have the refrigerator open the other way to access it from standing outside.

Seems like only a fraction of the TT's with the same floorplan as the Olympia Sport 18BH have a bath sink with nice counter and cabinet space which is mandatory for me. Can't imagine having to use a kitchen sink to wash your hands after using the toilet. Fortunately, my small Keystone bunks & queen TT has this along with a shower enclosure & mirrored medicine cabinet and got it in 2017 when RV prices were much lower than they are now.

Boy.. that Hike is a cool size.. but man.. what a crazy setup... I wish they took that bed and made a murphy out of it (ie: folded it into the wall) so you could also have a couch back there, the external kitchen is a really just a shelf - build some slide outs underneath with cooking, sink, etc. Not well designed in my opinion.. not sure who would buy this... maybe a solo person who doesn't want to spend time inside the camper except to sleep and use the bathroom?

So, the Jayco Jay Feather Micro is stated to have a starting MSRP of $20,063, but inside the 'demo' the price is shown (sticker @ 1:50) as $45,537 with a DISCOUNTED price of $33,995. Either the manufacturer is blatantly lying, or the reseller is gouging the HELL out of their customers. Either way, those price shenanigans would make me NEVER buy this camper.

Hey philburch, The MSRP in the video is based on the STARTING PRICE that Jayco lists on their website. Most RVs at dealerships are not base model, they come with ammenities which raises the price. Hi Sporting Dog Farms, First figure out your vehicles max towing capacity based on your exact model plus options that came with the vehicle like a tow package etc. We recommend that you never tow more than 80% of your max tow capacity so take 80% of max tow capacity and look for trailers with a GVWR at or below your 80% number... LOL that bed in the first camper is basically for one person it gives you only 28 inches of space for two people so you have to sleep like a mummy if you want two people in it. My wife and I watch all your videos . Can customers call RV manufactures for public advice ? Our issue with most RVs way way way to much space wasted with cabinet storage . Unless your living in it most people camp on weekends and don't take the whole house with them to do so . They could make the showers bigger and add more furniture or beds . The sinks are small so why in the world do people need a normal house space of cabinetry? That's just weird .look at all of this storage . It's for the weekend . I'm not trying to be smart but it's just a huge space wasted for a weekend . If there is a 25 to 30' trailer that that has wait less cabinets and more furniture or beds please show it because we would love to buy one

This statement comes from recent experience. Do not buy any RV or camper today. Not only are they not built worth a damn, when something breaks on it it'll cost you out the ying yang to get it fixed. Granted if it's under warranty sure it'll get fixed but, even that will cost you. Once that warranty is gone, hang on because that's when it digs a massive hole in your pocket. Not to mention, if you need a mobile service good luck. There is no regulations on the mobile service prices and believe me, the vary HUGELY. The cost for the visit was all over the place from 4 different mobile services in the Nashville area. The cost for the repairs was the same. Dramatically different between the 4 of them. If you should happen to purchase and RV or camper I wish you much luck. I will NEVER purchase another one. I had a 42ft. 5 pop out, sub zero, 2017 Heritage all the bells and whistles. Worst investment of my life.

Actually, many 6 cylinder cars like a Teluride and SUV’s can tow 5000 pounds, small trucks like a Tacoma also tows 6500 pounds as well. These are well within the range and an excellent option for these light trailers. Keep in mind these are weekend and short trip units, not intended for full timing or four season use. Not needing a full size pickup or large suv makes these a very interesting option!

We don’t expect every model to be configured for his particular difficulties, it’s business, and affordability etc. I’d love to make suggestions for say, add on features, think about all the disabled veterans for example, being excluded from RV’ing simply because the manufacturers just haven’t put much thought into R&D for accessibility. I really enjoy your channel, you guys do an amazing job!

Absolutely THE WORST layout - my StarMaster is almost identical. WHERE do you HANG clothes? Most people are right-handed, so good luck combing your hair in mirror with a wall flush with the mirror. Where do you hang bath towels? I could go on and on. I had to make major modifications to mine to make it livable.

But what about build quality of today's models? Literally engineered to fail, better to build your own, cheaper and better quality.

Hi Ed, Most folks are not able or willing to build their own trailer. But if you have the time, money and know how then yes - you could build a very high quality camper. Perhaps but not everyone as smart as you with the knowledge, capability, skills, tools, and desire to build your own RV TT. Plus RV mfgs. have the capability to buy needed RV components and parts in bulk & wholesale.

Believe me. They are not easy to tow if they have one axle. Any trailer over 16 feet needs two.

They are just more sensitive when backing up, otherwise towing is not an issue.
