Great video. I purchased the keyboard and am still trying to find my way around. This was very helpful. Thank you..

Thank you for this video - I really enjoy the depth of the new Gaia, especially the effects and pattern sequencer. Your video does a tremendous job of peeling back the initial complexity of the synth. I am not sure Roland did themselves a favor with the monochromatic aluminum and sleek black knob design. This synth cries out for an Oversynth-like skin to help users quickly makes sense of where everything is laid out and how to access the sound design parameters. That said, I'd hate to take off and reinstall all the tiny knobs to accomplish that. I've paired mine up with the Roland WC-1 Cloud dongle and have the Juno 106, JX-8P, and Jupiter 8 models loaded onto mine in addition to the SH-101. The tone possibilities in the studio from this one synth have enhanced my productions since buying it.

Excellent video thank you so very much! Kept me from selling mine. Menu diving on this synth really takes it to another level.

This sound design techniques are so cool man thanks! Quick question do you know if it’s possible to save your own sounds that you create within the Gaia?? I haven’t found a way to save my own and always end up making them again from scratch every time
@DashGlitch2 ай бұрын
Yea shift+menu jumps to the save screen, if it's a factory patch it should create a unique patch for you otherwise it should allow you to create a name for it, they're all saved into the user section. I hope that helps!

Huh. Yeah, after checking out other videos for presets i really like it. Its a perfect fully featured synth but at a mid entry level price. I might actually get one one dag

i really like the way how you explain your sounddesign techniques!
@buckycore4 ай бұрын
This is the first time I've heard an examples. It kinda has the flavor of Reason's Europa with the wavetable presets

I can’t wait to get the Jupiter model, I want that sound I’m a huge fan, I almost got the TAL VST countless times
@theorize9994 ай бұрын
anyone know how authentic the sound is?

What does 'sending me the synthesizer' mean, does it mean you review it and sent it back or can you keep it?
@DashGlitch4 ай бұрын
Well it's not really a review, more a tutorial on how to use it. I'll also be making presets and other content for it. Yes I am keeping it, but to keep working & teaching with it. I am super lucky and privileged to have the opportunity to do it, I think it's because my content is more than just reviews :)

@@DashGlitch Yes, I guess this is how it works. It can create a wrong incentive for some of the youtubers, unfortunately i've seen that quite some times.

NIce video, how does it compare to the Minifreak?
@DashGlitch4 ай бұрын
Both are great, very different in a sense that GAIA 2 offers more traditional synth-like hands-on control, while the minifreak is a bit of a nod to the future with the unique osc modes and software control system. The GAIA2 has MUCH nicer keys, so if you like PLAYING the keyboard that's a big factor too.

@DashGlitch It's nice huh! The keybed is extremely good. I really love the whole thing, and I found it very easy to transfer modulation techniques from Bitwig to it. Really fun! Great video man 👍

does it have a random button, like iirc korg wavestate?
@DashGlitch4 ай бұрын
Do you mean like to create a random preset?
@cordlesswire4 ай бұрын
@@DashGlitch yeah. theres a dice icon on wavestate, and its called random. i guess you select which parameters to randomize, press the button under the dice icon et voila. im not quite sure whether you have to select which parameters to randomize, or whether wavestate randomizes per patch (aka korg decides it for you), ‘twas a long time ago since i watched reviews for original wavestate (mkII is the current one). i like the idea of stumbling upon greatness by randomness. haha. cheers.
@DashGlitch4 ай бұрын
@@cordlesswire Yea I love random in my own sound design. The GAIA 2 only allows for randomizing of sequences/arps, and also a random modulation, but no full random preset system
@cordlesswire4 ай бұрын
@@DashGlitch ok, cool. thanks for the info. at least theres some randomness. btw, im shopping around and i wonder, have you ever tried, or experienced, working with any of the following: yamaha modx+/montage m and/or roland fantom 0/fantom? im sick of computer mice and keyboards, so im thinking of getting a synth/workstation. looked at all reviews, and honestly im sick of them showing of wurlizers and, i just vomitted a bit in my mouth, brass presets. so, im trying to gather as much info as i can. id be primarily insterested in creating downbeat chill in style of aes dana etc, and maybe dabble with psychill, maybe even psytrance but no one shows if those styles can be achieved with synth workstation, only elevator music haha. so, did you ever hear someone doing psy/techno with those, have you ever tried it, any info is more than welcome. if not, its fine. just asking around, lol. i know modx+/montage, ive seen and heard in a few videos electronica/psy(ish) downbeat type of stuff, even breaks type of stuff and it did sound noice, but i need more info. anyways, thanks for reading my blog. cheers!

Roland is trash and so is their customer services and this sounds like crap the ceo actually said they never chase the analog ghosts of the past are they stupid have they never played a Jupiter or Juno
@DashGlitch3 ай бұрын
The dinky plastic stuff like the Boutique and those things are trash, but their flagships are solid, have been since the ghosts of the past. Any link or evidence of that CEO's words?
