HI ! I think you should do a video explaining the difference between soundproofing (preventing the noise to go in and out of a room) and Sound Treatment (deadening the sound reflections from the walls) like for a home recording studio and such. People tends to confuse the two and I believe it could help.

I love that slogan: Invest in Mass ! I'm at the point where I want to soundproof a party wall in my condo and I was thinking of ripping everything off. The though of just having to add mass loaded vinyle and another layer of drywall to get good result is relieving.

Be careful as I think the video is misleading. If you want to soundproof impact noise then adding mass will help but by removing the existing plasterboard and installing resilient chanel first and then what is described would provide a much better result. This is being impact noise go through the structure abdominal only by decoupling the added mass will provide best result.

Would you still advocate not removing the existing drywall if it's dot and dabbed to a solid wall? It seems to be acting like a speaker membrane in my case.

I live in a studio annex thats part of the landlords house, theres a door that connects their place to mine thats permanently locked, the door lets out alot of noise so they can hear me sometimes , how could i soundproof a door that is permanently locked, i dont mind hearing them, i just dont want them to hear me, could i build some kind of panel and place it against the door or something, I dont mind spending a few hundred on it.

Hey @Soundproof Guide what would you suggest for Voice Over artists? I am using my closet with a two inch Auralex foam and sound panels for recording quality and echo reduction.

A closet works great. A lot of people does their voice overs in the closet because of the sound deadening material that is already there. It seems like you've already converted a closet using acoustic foam and acoustic panels which would make it a great place for choice overs. Just make sure there's not too much sound deadening to the point where your voice sounds too dead.

My bedroom wall has a fibro wall, And my family owns the house and one wall faces the lounge, the lounge room already has Gyproc what we Australians call them (drywall for the USA) so would an MLV and Gybrock layers would stop the sound and bass waves travelling to the lounge room?

The MLV and extra layer of Gyproc will help more in terms of airborne noise but will not help a lot if you're trying to get rid of a high amount of base. The best way to get rid of base noise (structural noise) is by installing a resilient channel between walls to decouple.
