I’m confused, I thought the taller/larger diameter gear would be 3rd gear?
@rc-jatodaniel Жыл бұрын
No the taller the spur gear, smaller clutch bell gear, more power less speed and vice versa.

@@rc-jatodaniel Oh ok I gotcha!

Are the "made-in-Japan" replacement transmission parts of higher quality than the "made-in-China" original parts? I notice my USA-1 Box says "made in China," whereas the replacement transmission parts (gears, cams, and shaft) are all made in Japan.

At 5:17 in the video, you point out the shim in between the two cams. However, according to Page 8 (step 7) of the Kyosho build-manual, there is NO shim. This is not the first place where I saw a shim installed where the manual did not call for one. On my truck, between the clutch bell and the clutch shoes, I found TWO shims, where the manual only calls for one. It was causing my clutch bell to jam up. Once I removed the extra shim, my clutch bell freed up. Hmmmm...

one thing i just help but notice as @Turok goes through this maintenance routine is just how scarred and "grooved" the appearance of the main shaft is, it has to be the weakest link in this design, and i think kyosho really dropped the ball by not making it a premium hardened part
@TurokRC2 жыл бұрын
I actually filed my shaft down, hence the marks. I had to do the same to my first shaft since the failed needle bearings left grooves which I filed away. It worked flawlessly after...so I did the same on the new one. Kyosho did send out some different hardened shafts but I haven't had to use them yet

Your gears slide off nice compared to mine. Mine were literally seized. That shaft has a bunch of burrs
@TurokRC2 жыл бұрын
I had lubed the trans prior to this service. Also my shaft looks that way because I filed it gently as I did my last one, the shaft coating was rough from factory which may have cause the seize

Did you swap the bushings over from the gears or just the 1 bearing from third
@TurokRC2 жыл бұрын
I didn't swap any bushings on this one

Hey turok I have a question so do I turn clock wise to shift earlier and counter clockwise to shift sooner?
@TurokRC2 жыл бұрын
Clockwise would be later shift, counter for sooner
