The batch lady has been a lifesaver for me and my family 😊

The one thing I have started this past month is keeping a price list for all the things that I buy on a regular base. I also have three freezers I inherited from my mom rest in peace. And I have decided one freezer will be for raw meats, one freezer will be for condiments and one freezer will be for my meal prep ready to eat foods and I absolutely plan on not buying anything that I don’t need this coming year.

That’s such a good idea to keep a price list, I need to do this as it’s hard to remember everything. Love the three freezers! My parents have two, one is a big box freezer for batch cooked foods which I think is a great idea.

The sale items might still be wayyyyyy more expensive than the store brand items.... So have a serious look on those while shopping
@TheMummyBubble12 күн бұрын
Yes such a good point, you really have to look around and take note of those prices.

Great tips! One way I minimize my food waste is by having regular days dedicated to using up leftovers, usually once a week on a day when I’m less likely to have time to cook. Stir fries or stone soup are great ways to repurpose those random scraps of ingredients (half a cup of ground beef here, 1/4 of an onion there) that aren’t enough on their own, and you can keep those scraps in the freezer until you have enough. 🍲 😊

Such a great idea, we can usually scrape together an omelette or soup with what we have 👍

My biggest problem is I have to shop after work. I'm usually exhausted, haven't taken a meal break, so I'm ravenous and that makes me overambitious in what I'll make or prep that week. Then I get home after spending too much, and don't prep any of it. One week I was mandated to stay over on 5 shifts in a row. Instead of working 9am-4pm I was at work 9am-midnight all 5 days. Then I got home each night and made nothing. All my fresh fruits and veg just looking at me, judging me. 😂 I need to get myself in the habit of shopping on the same day every week, then prepping as much as I can the next night.

Another tip for saving money, is learning to cook! Instead of googling for new ideas so your making new recipes google the ingredient you already have and find a recipe on how to use that tin of chickpeas up how to use those left over chicken scraps etc xx

Love your vids one thing I’ve found is it’s actually more economical to buy better quality meat for instance an Oakham extra large chicken from m&s is around £ 10-12 but will do for several meals whereas an Asda basic chicken is £5 but will only do one meal for a family.i also incorporate alot of organ meats and rabbit into our diet which is quite cheap. my friend buys a whole lamb, portioned out by a butcher and that will last her family for half a year in curry’s and roasts etc and works out economically.

I think this is such a good point that you make here. There is a stage where buying cheap isn't saving you money any more and can even be costing you more. I always go for the big chicken, then get dinners, sandwiches and soup out of it!

I am saving in my freezer ,washed veg peelings,chicken bones, carcass or meat bones to make delicious soup.

Thank you Vicky for reminding of the how much food we waste. In 2025 the goal is to be intentional about food wastage instead of normalising it. I will be keeping a watch full of eye and mental note of what goes in that bin! That in turn should help with behaviour change.
@TheMummyBubbleАй бұрын
Yes I think that makes a huge difference, then you can make changes based on what you learn about your habits 👍

These tips are super but we can't ignore inflation. BoE calculator says £60 in 2020 is now worth £75 and £90 compared to 2010. So modest increases in food prices is something we will all have to budget for and more importantly increase our budgets every year

Do you know what happens when you use JAM DONUT but need a refund? Bought pyjamas from m&s but they aren't needed anymore and the cash back has appeared on my account already??
@TheMummyBubbleАй бұрын
I don't actually as have never needed to do this. I assume they refund back onto the gift card.

I agree things like meal planning come up often but not with an explanation of doing it to save. The simple act of creating a meal plan won’t save you money unless it’s done with a view to buying less food. Thanks for watching.

All the you tube cash saving shows have £60 budgets that’s just not realistic we are going to aim for 80 but clearing everything we have.Everytime we shop it’s £30 -40.I’ve started writing food we eat regularly
@TheMummyBubbleАй бұрын
I would find it hard to do a £60 budget that includes all the fresh fruit and veg we eat. Even with two meat free meals a week it’s challenging with packed lunches and snacks too
