Swami Chinmayananda ji's commentary is a mixture of his and Adi Shankaracharya's one...it is so logical and sublime. I would recommend this one..Read, reflect, contemplate on the Geeta

I tried all three starting some pages but I found "the holy Geeta" by swami chinmayananda commentary was very clear and to the point and continued reading only that.

I would suggest first start with pocket gita(gita press) only its translation...read daily one chapter in morning...then read its one chapter for 10days and do it for 18th =18*10=180 days...then you will be motivated to enquire the interpretation of specific sloka as per your doubts that can be resolved by any commentary if you do have faith

I came across this video today and I was drawn to her reference to Sri Aurobindo's "Essays on the Gita". To make it easier for us to understand Sri Aurobindo's insights on the Gita, I'd recommend a book published by Aurobindo Ashram titled "The Message Of The Gita as interpreted by Sri Aurobindo". The author, Anilbaran Roy is a follower of Sri Aurobindo and he has done an excellent job of presenting the gist of the writings in "Essays of the Gita" in an easier form and placed Sri Aurobindo's commentary under each individual verse of the Gita.

All three are must read by one and all. (1) Chinmaya Mission book is totally scientific. Best. Captive. Superb. Commentry is amazing. (2) Mukundananda is very simple. Easy to understand. Purely devotional. You will fall in love with it. (3) Commentry by Paramahansa Yogananda is cosmic, super-natural. It's outstanding. You need to be highly spriritual, blessed and advanced devotee. I agree with your statement regarding Mukundananda. It's huge (literally) 😂 I would also recommend to read Shankaracharya s Bhashya, there is a 3 volume edition of the Bhagavad Gita from Advaita Ashram, Yogananda's Arjun talks with God is full of Christologies (beware), Chinmayanandas Holy Geeta is a masterpiece.

Essays on the Gita by Sri Aurobindo is a powerful masterpiece. As the reviewer says, its not for casual reading and is best to be read after one has some familiarity with the Gita. Reading Sri Aurobindo may seem intense but when approached the right way, little bit at a time, combined with contemplation on it, the writings can take us to the experience directly. Each sentence is as if packed with mysitcal power. Thanks for a comprehensive list of suggestions.

Sw Chinmayananda's book Indeed is the best to begin with to rightly grasp the BG. However, once trained well , The Shankara Bhashya itself is a highly pleasureable experience that gives the essence of the upanishads extracted in the BG. Hindi translation from Gira Press and English translation Sw Gambhirananda of Ramakrishna Mission. Both PDFs available for free download too.

Ok so how am I doing having a translated version , here is the interpretors as listed in my book , it is in Norwegian : It is a shortened version to be correct by Sissel Lange Nielsen , who`s work build on the earlier translations of : Bhagavadgita , Herrens ord ved Poul Tuxen 1962 (The word of the Lord by Poul Tuxen 1962). The Bhagavadgita , by S.Radhakrishnan 1958 . Bhagavadgita chapters 1-6 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi 1967 , so all this are at the base of my version , fitting in a pocket of my shirt , what is the original Gita ?

Bakthi yoga -which is called devotion to lord Krishna ,doing every work for Krishna without seeking results surrendering to him if u need this path buy isckon ( note: in this bagavad gita they will insult all other paths such as Jana yoga and karma yoga but lord Krishna never insult anyone only to follow this he given choice of three paths u can follow any of these) 2.) Jana yoga :Jñāna yoga, also known as Jnanamarga, is one of the several spiritual paths in Hinduism, which emphasizes the "path of knowledge",[1] also known as the "path of self-realization".[2] It is one of the three classical paths (margas) for moksha (salvation, liberation).(swami Vivekanda. Ramakrishna mission bagavad gita) 3.)karma yoga:Karma yoga, also called Karma marga, is one of the three spiritual paths in Hinduism, one based on the "yoga of action".[1] To a karma yogi, right action is a form of prayer 4.) Raja yoga : but it is not much in bagavad gita but these is fully about moskha by yoga breathing practise we can maintain our health just by proper breathing due to this only illuminaty planned to make us to wear mask so our proper balance will dye and our body is capable of every disease we are fools ( Note : this just my notes pls search as much as possible ) I don't know what bagavad gita for what yoga because there are too many edition. One must read all of paramahnsa yoganandas books to get the easiest foothold on the spiritual path. I read quotes by Swami Vivekananda nearly daily, by Swami sivananda daily, but I will definitely say that yoganandas work are very concise, very profound, and a world in themselves.

yes, Swami Sivananda of Divine Life Society and Swami Chinmayananda of Chinmaya Mission have both translated and explained the Isha Upanishad as well as other principle Upanishads. You can check out their book stores. Chinmaya Mission and Divine Life Society both call it "Isavasya Upanisad" - but it is basically the Isha Upanishad. Chinmaya Mission sells it as a separate book, whereas Divine Life Society has a book by Swami Sivananda called "The Principal Upanishads". This books contains the Isha Upanishad along with 10 other Upanishads.

Two other excellent translations with commentary are : 1) "Bhagavad Gita: The Scripture of Mankind" by Swami Tapasyananda -- Sri Ramakrishna Math here Swamiji dares to challenge Sri Shankaracharya's commentary on certain verses, although by and large he follows the Shankara-advaita approach. 2) "The Bhagavad Gita : The Song Of Life" by Sadhu Vaswani published by Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune. It has the verse in Sanskrit, an English transliteration, English meaning, followed by Sadhu Vaswani's beautiful commentary where required.
