All the scenarios look good as both Mullins and Mountcastle can help several teams in different ways. (Problem is that the Tigers may not go for anything less than Holliday.) The left field wall in Camden Yards really brought down Mountcastle’s power stats (he hit 33 Hrs in 2021. pre-wall) and his hitting approach. I think he will just feel like he can be that super player he was projected to be in any other park. And Mullins still is an elite defender even though his stats are not as good as previous years.

Orioles fan. Skubal is an elite pitcher but... He already has had TommyJohn surgery and throws in the high 90's. Pitchers in 2024 seem to be often injured. Only have 2 years before free agency. Holliday to me is off the table. I could maybe see any of your trades except with Philly. I prefer a less costly trade for a #2 or #3 pitcher with a good track record.

@@brandenp1187 Mounty hasn't hit a homer in a month. That's a long time for a power hitter. He's a good 1B but he's not in the lineup for his defense. Right now it's go time for O's. If he can't do it then Mayo will have to be called up. Mayo would be playing for O's already if not for his throwing problems from 3B. But at 1B, don't have to worry about that problem. I remember Ryan Zimmerman of Nats having the same issues later in his career from 3B but he was fine at 1B.

I think there is about a 0.1% chance of a Skubal trade happening. However, if it is to happen it's probably going to be a three team deal or a deal where the O's take on Baez's contract. In any case, I think it'll take more like 120 million in value rather than the 105.8 on Baseball Trade Values for Detroit to even consider giving up Skubal. The fact is the Tigers organization believes that this year's struggles are the appirition and the surge they had over the back half of last year and over the last few weeks is the actual team they can expect going forward. That is why the two guys they actually felt regressing, they sent down to Toledo. Both Meadows and Torkelson have gotten hot in Toledo, but the Tigers haven't rushed them back because they are trying to make more long term changes to how these two players hit. One or two hot streaks doesn't verify these changes, it's how they react when they face adversity.

I think it's great to speculate on possible Tarik Skubal trade scenarios. Realize that it's just speculation and nothing more. There is no player or group of players that are worth a shoo-in for the 2024 Cy Young. Add the fact that the Detroit Tigers are only paying him 2.65 million this season. You have the positions a little messed up. Hays wouldn’t go to left field, Kjerstad would, and O’Hearn would take over 1st base, but Mayo would likely get called up along with Connor Norby bc Mayo also plays 1st base. Also, I don’t think Burnes is going anywhere. For one, I think if the Orioles win the AL pennant there’s no way Burnes doesn’t come back to Baltimore after pitching in the World Series. The O’s will match any deals he’s offered elsewhere, but no one else would be able to match the postseason potential of the Orioles bc next year we will have Bradish back, likely John Means as well, and Felix Bautista in the back end of the bullpen while Holliday and Mayo join the everyday club as Kjerstad and Cowser become the players they have the potential to be as former 2nd overall and 5th overall draft picks. 1. Holliday 2B 2. Rutschman C 3. Henderson SS 4. Santander RF 5. O’Hearn 1B 6. Kjerstad LF 7. Westburg 3B 8. Cowser CF 9. Mayo DH Best lineup in baseball no question. Lastly, the Orioles are not going to trade Basallo, Mayo or Holliday. Mountcastle, Mullins, Hays, Mateo, Urias, Norby, Bradfield Jr, Stowers are on the table from what Elias has said up to this point with Norby being the one guy that they’d rather not give up. But Basallo, no chance at all, Elias has been incredibly open about that from day 1. He’s shown himself to be a perennial all star talent and batting title hitter. Everyone is basing this “win now” opinion about the orioles around Corbin Burnes. No one knows what the discussions have been like between the front off and Corbin, but I know for sure that if Corbin finishes this season by pitching in the World Series, win or lose, he’s coming back to Baltimore. I actually think losing the World Series guarantees his return more so than winning, but either way, if the Orioles match the best offer out there, he’s 100% an Oriole in 2025.

I don't see the Pirates making that particular deal. Yes, according to the fair trades calculator, they come out ahead. Yes, they need a bat. Yes, Mountcastle would be an upgrade. And yes, they have a ton of good minor league pitching. But, Mountcastle is probably worth Harrington, straight up, and Barco, IMO, is probably the highest floorpitching prospect the Pirates have, he will, at minimum, be a #3 starter in MLB. I understand that the goal was to get Skubal onto the Orioles, but with the way the trade market seems to be going, it makes more sense for the Orioles to make a trade with the Pirates for SP help. Something like Luis L. Ortiz for Ryan Mountcastle.

I’ve been seeing Mullins to the Phillies rumors over the past couple weeks. He doesn’t really tick many of the boxes the Phillies are looking for this trade deadline. His bat is about the same as Rojas. He’s a worse defender and baserunner at this point in his career. And the biggest thing is that he’s not a righty. I guess if they can get him for cheap then he can maybe platoon with Rojas in center. Then Marsh can platoon with Someone in left, like a Lane Thomas or Taylor Ward. But if you’re gonna bring an a left-handed bat, swing a little bigger and bring in Jake McCarthy.

Detroit wants top prospects for Skubal, and there is only one top 100 prospect in that deal. Yes, Basallo is a good prospect, but everyone could be hit or miss. You don’t trade the leading Cy Young candidate for one top prospects and a bunch of other prospects. Detroit has said their are looking for at least two top prospects (top 50), and are looking for quality over quantity. This is the definition of a quantity trade.

You can throw in whoever you want, but without some of those top prospects included, they have NO chance at Skubal. You make it seem like the Tigers are dying to get rid of Skubal, when exactly the opposite is true. They are really reluctant to move him, and it’s up to the teams that want him to convince the Tigers the package they are receiving is worth the leading Cy Young candidate.

Dude, I can’t see Mounty AND Mullins go. They are the last couple dudes that made it through several incredibly shitty Orioles teams. One of them deserves to see it through here, that being said; business is never personal, there is a lot jam at literally every spot on the diamond except for the mound & arguably 1st base. We’re deep as fuck, we also need a closer tho.

You have the positions a little messed up. Hays wouldn’t go to left field, Kjerstad would, and O’Hearn would take over 1st base, but Mayo would likely get called up along with Connor Norby bc Mayo also plays 1st base. Also, I don’t think Burnes is going anywhere. For one, I think if the Orioles win the AL pennant there’s no way Burnes doesn’t come back to Baltimore after pitching in the World Series. The O’s will match any deals he’s offered elsewhere, but no one else would be able to match the postseason potential of the Orioles bc next year we will have Bradish back, likely John Means as well, and Felix Bautista in the back end of the bullpen while Holliday and Mayo join the everyday club as Kjerstad and Cowser become the players they have the potential to be as former 2nd overall and 5th overall draft picks. 1. Holliday 2B 2. Rutschman C 3. Henderson SS 4. Santander RF 5. O’Hearn 1B 6. Kjerstad LF 7. Westburg 3B 8. Cowser CF 9. Mayo DH Best lineup in baseball no question. Lastly, the Orioles are not going to trade Basallo, Mayo or Holliday. Mountcastle, Mullins, Hays, Mateo, Urias, Norby, Bradfield Jr, Stowers are on the table from what Elias has said up to this point with Norby being the one guy that they’d rather not give up. But Basallo, no chance at all, Elias has been incredibly open about that from day 1. He’s shown himself to be a perennial all star talent and batting title hitter. Everyone is basing this “win now” opinion about the orioles around Corbin Burnes. No one knows what the discussions have been like between the front off and Corbin, but I know for sure that if Corbin finishes this season by pitching in the World Series, win or lose, he’s coming back to Baltimore. I actually think losing the World Series guarantees his return more so than winning, but either way, if the Orioles match the best offer out there, he’s 100% an Oriole in 2025.
