I'm surprised you didn't mention this about Lance. In Masters, you can talk to Lance (New Year 2021) and says: "This outfit shows off Gyarados's power as a dragon!" "What's that, you say? Gyarados isn't a Dragon-type Pokémon?" "Haha, not all dragons are Dragon-type Pokémon!" To Lance, simply being dragon-like is enough for him.

Yeah, it's getting annoying when people just disregard dragons just because they are not dragon type. It's like saying Venomoth doesn't have psychic powers because it isn't a psychic type for the same balancing issue even though it learns loads of psychic moves! While I don't really get why Aerodactyl wasn't a dragon, other than its fairly easy accessibility, Charizard is a starter so it wouldn't have been fair for Blastoise and Gyarados would have had no weaknesses in rby.

Well in my opinion Dragon specialists should only use Pokemon within the Dragon Type or Dragon Egg group and I'm pretty sure Lance does this

I don't believe N and Ghetsis are the same person, but I do believe Ghetsis might be N's actual, biological father. They are way too similar to not be related, and we're never given any insight as to how Ghetsis found N. Maybe he knew that N was abandoned in a forest because he was the one who left him there. Perhaps he left him to be raised by Pokemon on purpose, so that he'd become worthy of awakening the legendary dragons when he got older.

I mean it’s impossible for them to be the same person, we’ve seen them in the same room, multiple times… Also their personalities are far too different to be the same person a person who would step in front of Pokémon attacks Vs a trainer who’s Pokémon hate him so much his own Hydreigon took his eye.

I always that Zoroark was in N's pokeball during the mystery link with N, listening to the conversation. We know from the same game pokemon can see and hear inside the pokeball since ghetsis says our pokeballs are shaking because they're scared of kyurem despite not fighting it yet. Then gen 6 introduced this as a feature with the anistar city girl. Personally, I think N taught Zoroark to impersonate him (like how meowth learned to talk) and has him do so in bw2. This is because you can't catch his final battle team apart from the legendary so he most likely still has them. I doubt he'd release his pokemon in another region when he released all his other pokemon where they're found. While N travels Zoroark watches over unova to keep it safe, allowing him to be at two places at once.

Ghetsis as N's real biolocical father is part of my own headcanon and Ghetsis was the royal King of Unova before N was crowned as his successor. I also have a theory that since N's full name is Natural Harmonia Gropius, it is a translation from Latin.

With the Lance theory this also goes for the seadra that Lance has in let's go Pikachu and eevee because seadra in the pokedex is categorized as the dragon pokemon probably meaning that seadra was a dragon type at one point in development

Also Lance owning a Seadra isn’t as odd as Charizard, Gyrados, or Aerodactyl bc being a trainer that only uses Dragon or Dragon type Pokémon and using Horsea, or Seadra that aren’t dragon type (yet) wouldn’t matter bc it’s going to become a dragon type at some point. That would be the same as a trainer that only uses Fighting type Pokémon and has a Poliwag or Poliwhirl. It wouldn’t be weird bc Poliwag/Poliwhirl eventually will become a Fighting type as long as you use a water stone on it at some point. Or a Flying only type trainer having Dratini/Dragonair or Bagon/Shieldon bc both lines will become flying types eventually at 55, and 45 respectively. So Lance having a Seadra makes fine sense to me bc Seadra’s line is a water/dragon line purely bc that’s what type it ends in. Like I wouldn’t call Masquerains line bug/water just bc it’s lower form is water, I would call it a bug/flying line same with butterfree and beautifly and Vivillon etc.

@@Mothball_ I mean I personally prefer to believe that the titles "dragon tamers" like Iris n Drayden r different from "dragon Masters". I believe dragon tamers r supposed to use exclusively Dragon type Pokemon while Dragon Masters use Pokemon that fall into the Dragon egg group. In that sense Lance using Pokemon like Gyarados, Aerodactyl etc is acceptable bcoz he is a Dragon master that has completely understood all the dragons(including those that rnt dragon types). But that's just my head canon. 😅

The funny thing about Eevee as a starter is that it almost wasn't in Let's Go; rather, it was almost Pikachu and Psyduck but they opted not to use two yellow Pokémon. It makes sense for Gary to use one in Yellow because his evolution of choice depends on how many times you beat him

I have what I feel is a more accurate version of your second theory. Lance is a true master of dragons, not just the Dragon type. Each Pokémon on Champion Lance's team is representative of a kind of dragon in our world's legends. This is evidenced in his HeartGold and SoulSilver Champion fight and Champion rematch teams. Dragonite is both an anthro dragon and a leviathan, Aerodactyl and Altaria are both wyverns, Charizard is a fire dragon (more specifically a D&D Red Dragon), Gyrados is both a lung dragon and a leviathan, Garchomp is a drake, and Salamence is a winged salamander. He knows dragons aren't just Dragon type, but all over the world and adapt to many different environments.

Garchomp is also a Wyvern. Drakes have four legs and no wings. Haxorus, Dialga, and Kommo-o would be a Drake. Dragonite and Charizard are European Dragons as they have four limbs and wings. You got Aerodactyl right. Gyarados is a Chinese Dragon as it is literally from The Dragon Gate legend. Also Chinese Dragons appear in more forms that just the serpentine form such as turtle like and fish like forms. Although fun fact is beta Gyarados looked like a Wurm or Wyrm or however you want to spell it which is legless European Dragon and/or serpent. Altaria is a Fenghuang which is a Chinese Phoenix. It is revered to be almost on par with a dragon and is said to be the ruler of all birds. Salamanders have never been dragons in any folklore but were considered reptiles which dragons were also considered. Salamanders were only associated with fire in the sense that they were thought to be immune to fire or had the ability to extinguish fires because they were so cold. So if any dragon Pokemon were a Salamander is would Dragapult seeing as is has a very real world Salamander appearance not having wings and all. Salamanders in folklore have been depicted with wings but not as dragons or reptiles with wings. It was a man faced creature with wings or a dog like creature with wings because ancient Europe got weird for a while. You're still probably right about Salamance being based on a Salamander but Salamanders as dragons is a very modern thing. Gooshy McNasty er I mean Goodra is the French Lou Carcolh a weird giant snail like serpent monster. As for a leviathan which is a sea serpent and not really a dragon. The only thing that really fits the motif though is Kyogre. Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza depict the Judeo-Christian Leviathan, Behmoth, and Ziz the great beasts that ruled the Sea, Land, and Sky. Also this game introduced the three Golems which is again of Jewish mythology. Rayquaza is also based on the Mesoamerican Quetzalcoatl which is a feathered serpent and not a dragon. It is also the deity of the sun, wind, and air. Flygon is an adult Antlion which as an adult resembles a Dragon-fly. Oh and Palkia and Dialga which are a western dragon and a drake are also based on the Greek Titans Ouranos and Kronos. Kronos the god of time used his iconic metal scythe to castrate his father Ouranos the god of space. He then cast his father's genitals into the ocean which then created Aphrodite. So this is why Palkia the god of space also has the water typing and looks very.. phallic..

Also, I forgot to say I researched somewhat on different kinds of dragons afterwards for the scene I spoke of since he's going to be the leviathan wyvern Abyssal Lagiacrus from the Monster Hunter series and I wanted to make sure I didn't get that wrong

@@supernintendosp sure yeah. There is also the Qilin which is a Chinese dragon/tiger/deer thing. In Japan they are called Kirin and Girafarig is actually based on it since its Japanese name is Kirinriki. Which is odd because it doesn't really have any dragon-y traits. I love D&D as well since I just generally love mythology and folklore. If you also like dragons and dungeons and also dragons, D&D makes a couple books called the Draconimicon. There is one for Chromatic Dragons and another for Metallic Dragons. They're pretty sweet because I didn't know D&D had like Grey, Brown, and Purple Dragons. However I think they might be for 4th Edition so you might not actually be able to use anything in there in an actual campaign since all the stats for everything will be designed for 4E.

But, that means Ghetsis (N's future self) fought the player before, lost, left Unova to seek out Celebi or Dialga, time-travelled to adopt himself, trying to raise himself to be a winner and king, just to overthrow himself from the throne, only to watch himself lose AGAIN to the player, disowns himself, goes cuckoo in 2 more years' time and lose a THIRD TIME? That means Ghetsis formed a Team Plasma before, formed a second one after losing, but, swore he'd win, causing a Team Plasma split between both N's supporters and his future self's supporters. It doesn't make sense.

The theory of N is ghetsis is false, so is the N is Zoroark. The theory of N is Zoroark comes from Zoroark leads you to a room where N is but Zoroark is gone. N returned the Zoroark to the PokeBall before you entered the room. In the canon, N grew up around with wild Pokemon after getting lost before N was found by Ghetsis. My theory is that Ghetsis knew about N before they met, I believe that they are blood related in some way which explains why they look similar. Maybe Ghetsis abandoned N before N formed memories, and returned when N was of age to be manipulated by Ghetsis to become the king of team plasma and believe that they are liberating the Pokemon for the good of the Pokemon when Ghetsis just wanted to be the only one to own Pokemon so he could take over the Unova region. Don't forget that N grew up around wild Pokemon and saw how they were happy being free, and Ghetsis knew that he would form this bond with the Pokemon. But that is just my theory

It explained that Ghetsis found N and claimed to be his father. He could've just dyed his hair to make himself look similar to N. I don't buy the N Zoroark theory, and the Zoroark not being present in his team could mean that he doesn't use that pokemon to fight with or it's not actually a caught pokemon, just one of his friends. We are shown N as a child conversing with pokemon and was stated to be educated by the Sages and Ghetsis. They all watched him grow up, so why exactly would they trust a pokemon with their goal? It's not as if the illusions Zoroark makes are perfect, they're only visual and we see Team Plasma have a lot of advanced tech and they couldn't figure out that this kid was a pokemon? It's an interesting theory, but is easily debunked if you remember that N has an entire child's play room and we literally see him as a child.

I have a theory that some fossil Pokémon used to be a different type, but being fossilized as a rock for so long changes the type when reanimated. Like Kabuto could have been big and water. Aerodactyl could have been flying dragon. Idk if it’s legit, but it would make some sense to me.

I don’t know if you’ll see this but one theory that’s interesting if true is that greninja’s design was changed last minute due to fan art predictions being too close to his actual design. and that’s why he looks nothing like froakie. i remember a lot of predictions at the time having bubbles around his neck so i feel like that was changed and explains the random tongue. Would be so cool if your starter was eevee and you get information on the way to get the type you want and in further gens would make it so you could add another one. Imagine having a third evolution all of them, the third one being depending on what types you mixed and small changes in what order if you took the same ones.

Even if you don't support the Lance dragon theory, there's a logical reason why Lance has so many non-dragon type pokemon. With the amount of Dragon-types in the first two generations, there aren't enough dragons to fill out an Elite Four member's team without multiple repeats.

I go one step further with the eevee theory, I say it was at one point probably the only starter pokemon, think about it every player starts with the same pokemon then by time you far enough to get evolution stones you can then chose what evolution would best suit your team. Makes way more sense then having the starter pokemon they actually went with

Here's a theory that piggy backs off of two of the theories in this video. It's possible that Eevee and it's evolutions were created solely to show off types. You mentioned that types weren't added till later on in development, so they might have wanted to make Eevee to show off how different types are. It especially makes sense since BOTH times we got new types in later generations, we were given new Eeveelutions. This also means there might have been plans to make a Steel type Eeveelution, but was scrapped due to not being a Special type

The easier explanation would be either: 1. That being thematically a dragon doesn't require being a Dragon type, that type is not the essence of a pokemon, but something like a set of skills, which actually makes a lot of sense looking at how easily regional formes change typings. 2. Or that Flying is also a dragon type. It's like earthly objects are represented by both Rock and Ground types, magical creatures can be both Psychic and Fairy, evil things can be Dark, Ghost or Poison, dragons can be Dragon or Flying. If you think about it, Dragon is a "pure" and "divine" type, and all the early gens legendary pokemon (except Mewtwo) are of connected Flying type. Some Dragon moves also have spinning air animations. Doesn't it remind you of Flying type?

The first theory is all the more fitting if one considers that Ghetsis's Hydreigon has max-frustration- N's a complete empath to Pokémon, Ghetsis hates all.

I have a theory revolving Ash, although it contains spoilers for Super Mystery Dungeon Ash is a special character in many ways, from being able to lift extremely heavy objects easily, the ability to see aura and of course, seemingly being unable to age. While there have been many theories about him, I propose this one, that Ash is Mew. While we see Mew from the anime with Ash, seemingly disproving this theory, but in Super Mystery Dungeon, the players best friend turns out to be Mew, haven forgotten who it was. Eventually after turning back to Mew, you get your friend back, but Mew still sticks around, meaning Mew and another version of Mew were made. We know very little of Ashes birth and very early childhood, so it is entirely possible that Ash might have been adopted, maybe even being found in the woods which is why he is so good at stuff like climbing. Because of this, it is possible that a Mew could have changed form into a human and at some point, Mew split from one to two, leaving the new Mew, Ash, behind. Of course, this explains some of the unexplainable things about him, with him being able to lift heavy objects, due to having the strength of a mythical Pokémon, the latent Mew part of him could have stopped him from ageing, and in the Pokémon movie involving Lucario and Ash with Aura, we see Mew there. I feel this would make a good for the Journey anime, as Goh wanted to catch Mew as his first Pokémon, and to learn that not only was Mew with him the whole time, but that Mew was constantly helping him as Ash, would make a fulfilling arc for his character. Of course, there are flaws with this, such as there being a device that can locate Mew, that never locates Ash, but maybe because the Mew side is more dormant

I do have to point, out they do speak complete sentences. Both in the games and the anime. One episode of the anime where Zoroark pretended to be nurse Joy, and the games the backpack guy from the sequels I think (who gives you a TM in lostlorn forest) also speaks full sentence. Zorua specifically tho don't seem to speak full sentences.

The theory about Lance is plausible, but I think what's more likely is that not all dragons are Dragon types, and not all Dragon types are dragons. Lance is a dragon master, but not necessarily a "Dragon type" master.

Another cool theory is that Erika, Valerie, and Bill are all the descendants of Kimono Girls. Bill is canonically as you find this out from a fan of his if you get their Pokegear number and he tells you facts about Bill. This is why Bill is originally from Johto and gives you an Eevee. Valerie is from Johto, wears a Kimono, and uses a Sylveon. She also speaks in a Kyoto dialect in Japanese which means she is specifically from Ecruteak City. Erika though seems to be from Celadon she also uses a Kyoto dialect, wears a Kimono, and she uses a Leafeon in Masters. Leafeon was also planned to be released originally in gen 2 as you can see from the Space World beta spite leaks which is also the game that introduced the Kimono Girls. So if Bill's mother is the Eevee Kimono Girl, Valerie is Sylveon, and Erika is Leafeon we need to keep an eye out for who the Glaceon Kimono Girl is now.

Let's be honest here the reason mega charazard x is fire/dragon is because 1. Gf and the pokemon company lives to give it and mewtwo special treatment and 2 people wouldn't shut the fuck up that charazard isn't a dragon type even though he looks like a dragon even tho giving him that type would give him the advantage against all the starters having no weakness to water due to the dragon typing.

Lance Japanese name Wataru is supposedly a pun on "wata", the sound bird wings make when the flatter. Lance being originally developed as a Flying type trainer rather than a Dragon type one makes sense.

Hear me out. Eevee was the original starter, because he could shift in to the other 4 types. Which would eliminate the need for picking the best type advantage for the first few gyms. Giving the player the concept of building a bond with your Pokémon.

Better insane theory. Unova is actually Yugioh. Reshiram is a blue-eyed white dragon, Zekrom is a a red-eyed black dragon. N is a king much like a pharaoh and has a millennium item looking thing around his neck which would explain how he can understand Pokemon. There is also desert ruins which house Egyptian/Mesopotamian style Pokemon like Yamask, Cofagrigus, and Sigilyph. Hugh is also just the main character from Yugioh!: The 5Ds.

The thing with Eevee being a starter is not a bad theory in itself, just how you brought it up. GameFreak patented the game name Pokémon Brown back in the day, and you could assume that it was supposed to come ou together with Yellow, so we would have had Pikachu and Eevee as Starter.

Wait I just had another N related theory, what if the N is a zoroark theory is half true and N is actual person but his zoroark often transforms into him and N just accepts this for some reason and maybe the zoroark keep an eye on everyone and reports back to N and becomes him when it’s necessary and in the game you interact with both versions of N throughout the story

So i have a theory piggy backing off the N theory in this. Possibly Zoroark being Ghetsis partner pokemon as a young boy. When Ghetsis start to become more evil. N/Zoroark did not but still wanted to please his former partner so he believes the lies Ghetsis tells him about the true evil of his plans.

The evee theory is kinda true maybe let me explain after yellow came out they planed on many scrapt/reusable titles and in them was a game called brown. Also in that list of titles scarlet and violet apear so those names were oround for much longer that we thougt.(warnig this is speculation)

My take on the zoroark/N thing is that most of the time we meet N, it is genuinely a human named N; but N has a zoroark who can disguise itself as N if N ever needs to be in two places at once, so sometimes when we encounter or see "N", it is actually N's zoroark pretending to be N. Also, I don't think N is Ghetsis, though it is entirely possible that they are blood relatives, given that they have similar physical traits.
