Homelessnness. Alone in the woods was more safe than the city. Had to pull the machete for 1 scare. Something heavy stopped next to my tent. I woke up, livid, so I pulled my machete. Kept silent and waited for it to be open up my tent. After a few minutes it left. Nothing weird happened. Nothing disappeared or got damaged. So I suppose it was just a deer.

Bro in the first story, if you ever see a random person come up from behind you and sit down next to you and they have no response and then just leave, that’s your cue to call off the camping trip and leave, why would that guy stick around for another 2 hours after that weird encounter which obviously led to horrific events

Getting lost in a forest is terrifying. I remember when I was 16 I went on a walk in this forest during lockdown and wound up taking a wrong turn on the way back. Never have I been more stressed in my life- and this was during the daytime. I couldn’t imagine being in that situation at night.

It sometimes seems that there is no place on earth, no matter how remote, where there isn't a mentally deranged or homicidal maniac wandering around. I even heard of a case where a woman deep sea diving was attacked by a creep who tried to drown her. Is there literally nowhere people can go alone without being attacked by some loon? 😮

Story 1: if you encounter someone out in the middle of woods that just silently chills at your campsite, don't try to sleep there. Story 2: stay on main roads when you are lost until you can find a gas station or similar, pay attention to another vehicle that follows into a dark parking lot when you're lost in the middle of nowhere. If someone approaches you like they did, it is time to leave. story 3: if you have never been hiking don't try an 8 hour solo hike and also that story was made up

I'm not a fan of hiking alone, but that third person with no "outdoorsy" experience? Try going on a few hikes with a couple of people first. Also, try a well-marked, public trail if you have to go alone. Didn't pack a flashlight. That should be a no-brainer. An 8-hour plus hike is not for beginners, either. I'm glad they got out okay, but jeebus.
