despite what they say in Clarisonic's manual, In my opinion, exfoliate your skin two times a day (even mildly) is a crazy thing to do. the skin has to have time to recover the natural oils to stay healthy. Definitely does not seem a good idea to clean the face with Clarisonic and then put on makeup, clogging the pores all over again, and then having to make an even heavier cleaning at night to remove all the makeup used. Our skin is a living thing and needs to breathe and rest just as we do.

Tiago Motta You're right. I do like to skip days here and there (I also don't wear a full face of makeup every day). I mainly like it at night after having had makeup on, because the Clarisonic always seems to find more!

Grace Jones I think shaving everyday is crazy, at least here in Brazil, men shave just twice a week. I never use razors, i work the trimmer on my facial hair and that's enough for me, but i guess men are getting clever about facial hair cos each day i see more and more men who don't shave at all, they're just growing a beautiful and stylish beard. About make up, i fear the future for those women who don't leave the house without make up on. I've been noticing more and more young women of 20/25 with lines and even wrinkles and that's just the beginning, cos as you said, the formula of these products bring really bad stuff for our health.
@tiagomotta87209 жыл бұрын
***** Yes. Clarisonic can be a good ally to keep your skin clean, but it has to be used with caution cos i've seen people who got crazy with it (i mean, using clarisonic 3 times per day) and got the skin bruised and brittle. the most important thing about skin products and devices is that we have to know our skin very well so we can identify what is doing good and what is not.

Leaving it out to dry overnight with the brush head off should be plenty to dry it out and keep it sanitary. I'm sure that it's just calcified water deposits. You could try soaking just that part of it in vinegar for about 20 minutes, that should clear it out. Vinegar is EXCELLENT for hard water deposits.

Ok, no. The Clarisonic does NOT "pull" matter from your skin. Only things that cause cell turnover are actives, BHA AHA and RA. If the Clarisonic is causing you to break out it's not for you!
@idou9 жыл бұрын
+Replicant Rachel That is not true. Do your research. Many have broken out at first, but then it clears up and they say their skin is better than ever, and no breakouts. If you're still breaking out after a while using it, then it may be the cleanser, the water or the brushhead that is too harsh. Many ways to make the clarisonic work.
@veekay16938 жыл бұрын
+Rachel Rosen  It is the brush head type that can cause breakouts. If the brush head is not the right type for one's skin type, it will over-exfoliate, which leads to the skin produce more sebum to compensate, which results in breakouts. Use the cashmere or delicate brush heads, and you should have no problem. ~Vee Kay, Licensed Esthetician

I am using my husband sign-in here, but I have to make additional comment. You made and excellent point about water. I find I break out depending on the tap water. Also, don't press the brush on your skin. Allow the brush to do the work. I've commented before on this video and it was nice communicating with you. The mold was very informative! I just purchased Mia 2 and it is charging the first 24 hours. I can't wait to use it. In the past, when I had the old one, I always had the habit of removing the brush head after every wash and allowed it to dry on my vanity table, not the bathroom. Your video is very informative and I still purchased Clarisonic, but I will make sure I remove the brush head as I did years ago. Thank you!

John H Great additional tips! How's the Mia 2? I hope you love it. It sometimes takes a little time for your skin to get used to it, so hang in there if it's not super life-changing yet. It sounds like you'll take great care of it.

***** I love it! The key is getting the right type of cleanser that is gentle but does not leave a residue on your skin. Don't press the brush on your face. Allow it so glide and do it's work. I didn't break out from Mia 2. I didn't press hard on my skin and got a cleanser that is not over drying.

Thank you for this video. I bought the Ma Fit about 2 years after my Mia 2 died. It hasn’t been holding a charge. I was thinking of replacing it with the new Mia, but after realizing how mold has been trapped in my current one, even after frequently cleaning it, I started rethinking whether I want to go with Clarisonic. After researching, I’m thinking going with an anti microbial cleansing brush like Fureo or PMD.
@reddalchemy59708 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this though. You are right, a lot of owners do not mention the possible mold issue. If you take good care of the Clarisonic, it will last for a while, but ultimately, you will need to replace it at some point, the battery does not last forever, sadly. You would think that with all this technology, they could make something that could last, but I guess for 100-200 bucks, and 3 years worth of life, that is not too bad.

The pink mold as you call it is NOT calcified deposits. Do people read? It's a bacterium called Serratica Marcesens. It's in most water, and is not something you can prevent with water filters and such, the only thing one can do is have a tungsten rod installed in the hot water tank. I

I hadn't considered that deep cleaning with my terrible water would be bad. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I haven't really noticed any problems with my skin though, as I always seem to have acne but then I always have been showering at this same house. And that same pink bacteria grows in my shower and sinks as well. I used to think it was mold too but it's actually not and you can look it up on Google and there will be some University papers and some scientific papers on it. Basically I use rubbing alcohol in mine but on the one occasion that I did have that pink bacteria, I ended up throwing out my brush head and putting bleach into the base of my Clarisonic. Never again have I left the brush head on after using it. I wash it out every time while I'm still in the shower and wash the brush head as well and sit on the side of the shower to dry.

I purchased this item, actually the profile, a month ago and I love it. Breakouts have to do with what type of cleanser your using and what types of creams/serums you use. Also, you didn't mention if you switch out the brush heads, they are supposed to be replaced every three months if you use it daily. I use it once a day and I would think more than that would probably dry out or irritate the skin, depends on your skin I guess. I would have thought it was obvious that anything you use that gets wet would need to be dried off. I dry mine off after using it. I don't think these things were advertised as mold resistance, like anything else, if you don't clean it you will have issues with it.

One thing Broke for Beauty did not mention in her video is keeping the actual brushes clean. A couple months ago I came back from a deployment and then when I got back to the U.S. I noticed I started breaking out again in my usual area (which is my jawline). At first I thought it was coming back to the climate I was used to that was making me breakout but as soon as I cleaned out the brushes. How I clean out the brushes is I take a cup fill it up with water and then put anti-bacterial dish soap and also hydrogen peroxide and I let the brushes soak in that water overnight. I have the Smart Profile and I use it a lot in the shower so one thing I do (as mentioned in the video) is I take the brush head off and let the unit breathe. I also do pour some hydrogen peroxide into the part where you put the brush and let that soak there for awhile too.

I bought one of the OG Clarisonics when they first came out. I've had it 11 or 12 years now and the battery is starting to not hold a charge. I saw a pretty good deal on Cyber Monday for a Mia Smart so I decided to splurge. The first thing I noticed about the new style ones is that the brush head has some sort of indicator on the back that's covered in foil. I'm not sure if it's some sort of chip or what to try to make you buy new brush heads more often. I'm kind of wishing I went with one of the dumb Mias instead of the smart one.

I had a product similar to the Clarisonic and it never did me any good. It caused breakouts, sore spots on my skin, broken capillaries and so I stopped using it altogether. I was using chemicals on my face to battle my acne and struggled with dryness, makeup application and a whole mess of issues. When I finally decided to go natural was when my acne went away. I stopped scrubbing my face, I started using face wipes in the morning and afternoon keeping my face from having any residual oil, and using a willow bark face gel to wash my face at night time. I use all Burts Bees acne products, including their blemish eraser which works wonders! The natural willow bark is great for your skin and it's never felt or looked better. The face wipes remove whatever skin cells are on my face. I wear makeup maybe once or twice a week as well. If I go all out it's rare. I usually use my concealer lightly just to get rid of my under eye bags and highlight my face, then I use my mineral powder or I use my tone concealer powder. I contour just a little bit with bronzer and use brown eyeshadow to line my eyes. That's it. I'm done and I go out into the world. What I love most though is just rockin' a naked face. I don't really like how makeup feels and I think I am doing my skin a service by not clogging my pores as often. : ) Accept your beauty and just roll with it!
@ColleenCaseyVlogs9 жыл бұрын
Uryusgirlfriend Thanks for sharing your story! Letting skin breathe is super important. I'm so glad you found a routine that works for you, and that you enjoy rocking a bare face. You nailed that accepting your own beauty is key--make sure you don't confuse makeup with insecurity, though. Lots of women accept their beauty but also just like wearing a full face of makeup. I'm equally comfortable going out with or without foundation, and I definitely do both! It's really up to what makes each person feel their best, and how they choose to express themselves.

About the water quality... What can you do if the water is potable, obviously, but maybe harsher? It's probably the only variable you can't control, especially if you're renting. I don't think putting a water purifier on the faucet would help?
@ColleenCaseyVlogs9 жыл бұрын
+twiggyjali You know, that's a great question. I'm not an expert on this, so I'm not going to give a definitive yes or no on the water purifier (any experts out there to chime in??). Again, I have no idea what I'm talking about!

I'm looking into buying a Clarisonic or Forneo Luna, and hands down no comparison, I'll probably purchase the Clarisonic, it seems to deep clean your face with brush bristles against rubbing something that's I don't know what type of fibre, soft rubber? against your face. What you're mentioning in your video about the mold, it's logical, you have to clean your Clarisonic. For the price you're paying for it, you shouldn't be leaving it lying in the Shower wet, it's easy, take off the brush, clean it and air dry it - it's like cleaning your cosmetic brushes, I clean them almost after every usage.

Just so you know the Clinique brush is made so no holes underneath the brush head so you can’t get mold in the brush. Plus it’s smaller and lighter and cheaper.

I watched this just because I'm curious. I've had my for 3 yrs. They are suppose to last a long time. I don't see a difference in my battery life nor the mold. I don't leave it in the shower tho. I use it twice a day and keep about 4 days every month to do a mask. I did notice I break out more depending on the cleanser I use with it. Now I stick with Purity or afican black soap.

StarPanda7 That's great that you haven't noticed a difference in battery life! I think nicer models are meant to last longer than the Mia, so I expect my new one to last a lot longer!
@mahricrawford98379 жыл бұрын
why can't you just put it on the charger after every time you use it??? it's not that complicated lol
@idou9 жыл бұрын
+Mahri Crawford Yeah, 'cause that won't minimize the battery life at aaaaaall.
@mahricrawford98379 жыл бұрын
+Nopi if you put it on the charger after every time you use it, it won't matter how long the battery life lasts cause you'll be charging it the whole time ur not using it

I agree, doesn't seem like a problem to me

if you do this and dont let the battery empty itself, you minimize the battery life even more!

I have the plus & I haven't used it yet! I just left it on charge for a few hours & it hasn't shown a peep or a little bit of light to indicate that it's charging. I know it's supposed to charge for 24 hours before use & it hasn't been 24 hours yet but does it only switch on after the 24 hours has passed? Thank you for any reply

Read over the manual very carefully, I read it thinking I got all the info only to find fine print in it that explains how to know if it's charging, when to take it off charge ect.

Hy Clarisonic has 2 year warranty so if you find your battery life is bad you could take it back. I think this is the problem with the basic Mia, which they don't do anymore. I have Plus for over 2 years no and no issue with the battery life. I agree the fact it's waterproof it means you can use it in the shower but they do suggest to take the brush off and dry it in a well aired room. Wash it in a water with soap too. The entire device head without your brush head on. It'll help. Also If you find that your skin gets a bit sensitive even if it's due to harder water in your area changing to a more gentle wash or swap your brush head to a softer one. Hope it helps. Great video, and true no one talks about the mold issue!
@ColleenCaseyVlogs9 жыл бұрын
SocialBeautify I think I was past the warranty, but it's always good to check! I agree that the "lower" models likely have a bigger battery issue than the more expensive ones. Thanks for all of your tips :)

I am specialist in clarisonic and let me tell you, you should clean your brush and your device once a week with soap and dry it,. That's the reason you have that pink thing.
@tarathetarantula7 жыл бұрын
I just bought the smart profile clarasonic. I have hard water in my house. Are you saying I shouldn't use this now? The hard water doesn't necessary irritate my skin, but it does DRY it out like crazy. I use good quality moisturizers/ serums/eye and neck cream. I figured this brush would make the lotions work better if all the dead skin was gone.
@ColleenCaseyVlogs7 жыл бұрын
If it doesn't cause a reaction in your skin, you'll be fine. Your skin is likely accustomed to the water you have. I only wanted to point out that this can be a consideration if you have sensitive skin or use water at multiple locations (like I was at the time).

That pink mold is called Serratia Marcesans and it LOVES to feed on soap scum. I've seen this grow in the guest shower where it wasn't used often, but also wasn't cleaned as often. Ewww, but is very easy for me to clean and it is one of the less harmful molds, unless you are very sensitive to that particular strain.

The hygiene factor definitely prevented me from hoping on the Clarisonic bandwagon years ago. It just seems like an impossible device to keep clean on a daily basis. I don't have time for that! Just a very problematic design for the price point. For something that expensive, I don't want to worry about cleaning compulsively, expensive replacement brush heads, and a low battery life. I just bought a Foreo Luna and hope it works out for me!

I just bought it a week ago and wondering if I take the brush head off every time i use (basically everyday). Is it will make the handle device get break easily especially on the head which we attach the brush head in? anyway thanks for this good vid, I follow your suggestion since I've got my clarisonic :)
@ColleenCaseyVlogs9 жыл бұрын
Jeerisuda T Hi, I'm so glad this was helpful to you! I always take my brush head off every time to rinse out the device and make sure it dries thoroughly. I've never had a problem with it wearing down or breaking, but I also try not to pull on it or otherwise treat it roughly. You shouldn't have any problems, but of course, I don't work for the company and can't really speak for them on this matter--this is just personal experience. I hope that answers your question!

Great video!! I've had my first Clarisonic mia (just got a new one for Christmas) for FOUR years and I love it but I've never had the battery life get worse on me though. I always try to rinse out that inside part under the head but never think to dry it except for only when I charge it. i'm definitely going to be doing that now lol.

I was told when I got mine to wipe it down too take it apart , I scald the brush and a lite spray of hydrogen peroxide and rinse it use a Q tip to clean it and wipe it down or use your hair dryer on low heat after cleaning.

The other thing they don't mention is that the brushhead literally starts to stink after several usages (also has to do with not removing it completely to dry each time I used it).
@ColleenCaseyVlogs10 жыл бұрын
Yes, that would definitely happen if the brush head isn't drying completely. If yours starts to smell, I'd suggest cleaning it with antibacterial soap or throwing it out right away!

Hello! I'm thinking about buying one because my skin is breaking out lately, I don't have acne or pimples but I notice little bumps on my face (especially in my T-zone). Does this clear this out or what is it ment to do? xxx
@ColleenCaseyVlogs9 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Thewissen This might help. Obviously, I'm not a skincare expert and I can't say anything with a guarantee. I know that over time, my skin looks better than it ever has. I still struggle with breakouts and unevenness, but the Clarisonic has helped me be more consistent in my skincare and take care of myself. It might be worth a try for you, who knows?

I use my Mia 2 twice daily and have never experienced an issue, and the 'real story' is that it is a terrific product. You can't handle a fly?? That is concerning! I trust you don't drink your water if it affects your appliances so negatively. I filter my water thru a Berkey..the best for quality, cost efficient water.

I love it when people comment on a video I made 3 years ago just to be mean... I never said it isn't a terrific product, I just wanted to share some of my experiences with the product I didn't see discussed. That's great that you've never had a problem with yours. That doesn't mean it's true for everyone, and judging by the comments on this video, most people don't have a perfect experience with it.

I have the smart profile Clarisonic, I use mine twice a day and always remove my brush head after each use and dry the back of the brush head, I dry the bristles of all the excess water and Then i dry my device of all excess water.... and then I let it air dry in a large make up bag with the zip half open for air circulation, guess what.. I still get some of that pink hard water residue. It’s annoying. If only their was a way to take off the white ring to be able to thoroughly clean under it and then put it back on. I do this twice a day... because I use the Clarisonic twice a day.
