Hey Victor- Service is apparently a location thing. When I need service (usually TSB related) I can get appointment in as little as 1 day and no more than 7 in upstate New York. My number one dislike is that I want 1-pedal to STAY ON if that is where I left it. Seems dangerous to have it always turn off with the car. Number two is to replace the "stand-and-wait" auto liftgate opening with a "Kick" system. The current system takes too long and does't work at all if the car is unlocked. Also, with "Kick" you can CLOSE it with your foot when your hands are full of groceries, etc. Number three is "Walk away auto lock" No explanation needed. I wonder how many people with other EVs have so few complaints? At an EA charger last week I saw 4 Ioniq 5s and one's license plate read: LOL TSLA.😄

Wow that's great service times in your area, I think you are right. Areas with lower EV adoption rates like mine probably have less certified dealers and high wait times. Definitely something to consider before jumping into an EV. Agreed about ipedal! Agreed about current auto lift gate, I kept activating it just by walking by. Kick to open would be better. Auto lock, one can dream hahaha. I have it in the model y and it's such a no brainer, please add it Hyundai!

Hi there, and thank you for all your content, it has been really useful to me. I live in the UK. Service appointments for me have been a breeze, no problem and only needed bi-annually! I agree about the battery thing. Thus 12v issue has been a nagging problem for EV’s. I had a Kona before thus and had a dead 12v a few times. I do carry a 12v booster pack but haven’t needed it with the Ioniq (yet) and I really shouldn’t have to. Tiny 12v battery dead and I have over 60kWh available but can’t use it??? Come on guys. The BlueLink app over here seems to be better than for you. I use it a lot to lock remotely, precondition car etc with few issues. For me, the major issue is no rear wash wipe. Winter in the UK is wet and it’s a real pain having limited rear vision. Overall, it’s the best car I have ever owned after many years of BMW’s and Mercedes. Thank you again, I really appreciate the time and trouble you take to help the rest of us. John

Glad to hear your servicing and bluelink are going well, I wish that were the case here for me haha. I guess they haven't learned from their mistakes with the 12v. It just doesn't make any sense, hoping they figure something out eventually. The rear wiper was a strange omission. Looks like they have it on the N and future models. Too late for current owners though.

I own 2023 hyundai ioniq 5 limited. i think most of the issues stated here is fixed since I dont have any issues with bluelink, hyundai services, and the 12v battery thing. Just note that Tesla had about a decade head start on their evs and applications. I am sure hyundai will improve as well. My wife owns model y LR, but I like ioniq 5 better in many ways...i guess it is all up to everyone's taste

You are right Tesla does have quite some more experience fine tuning the software. Keep an eye on that 12v battery, unless they changed it to a lithium battery you should expect early failure. It's being cycled on and off exponentially more than a regular ice car's 12v battery on a daily basis.
@kevinpark86

@CarsJubilee actually the ova tsb update resolved the issue of 12v battery draining issue...
@CarsJubilee
@CarsJubilee 10 ай бұрын
@kevinpark86 I believe it did resolve some phantom 12v drain issues but not all. And it still won't protect you from a dead 12v if you go below 20%. If you go below 20% the 12v will stop being charged. That's how the wrote the software. That's what I'm saying they need to change. Depends on your 12v state of health for how long it will last without a charge from the main battery before it dies. Could last an hour, could last several days. Just not something most people want to put to the test on a daily basis.

I try not to worry much about software being behind, b/c with updates it could improve overnight. Not holding my breath, but it’s possible. I love climate start, but personally am in the “don’t rely on an app” camp.
@CarsJubilee
@CarsJubilee 11 ай бұрын
For regular ice cars I get that. But with EVs, so much more is controlled electronically and there's a lot of extra planning that goes into daily living with an EV that the app becomes more of a need vs luxury. You don't need to check your fuel level before leaving the house because you know you can fill up on the way. But it's a good idea to check battery level before leaving the house, sometimes hours or days in advance etc.

After owning an Ioniq 6 here is my list that would really help Hyundai be a better competitor in the EV market: Dealer service - incompetent, level 2 charge port overheating above 40 amps in US, auto door lock, i-Pedal remain active UNLESS changed by driver, HDA remain active UNLESS changed by driver, Bluelink, useable frunk on RWD, remote open frunk, better audio system, remove start/stop button, reduce key FOB size, replace current navigation system, offer built-in infotainment, stay-on HVAC modes, need to turn car off and back on after DC charging, easy entry (seating), gear selector, go from R to D without need to apply brakes. That's my short list for now. The car is quiet and smooth with good build quality though.

I have 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line is my test vehicle "BEFORE" I jump into IONIQ 5. With that said, the first engine oil change at 7,000 Seven Thousand miles. The fastest waiting period is one week at a dealer 35 miles away from me, round trip 70 miles. The closest Hyundai dealer is only 4 miles away from my home and has a 2+ months waiting period. I'm a second owner, that means engine oil change costs $98 with tax. I will be doing my next oil change myself at home.

Ah wish I could but been a little busy. Do you have any specific questions? I might be able to steer you one way or another. For example if you plan to do mostly highway driving the model y has consistently gotten me about an extra 75-100 miles of range and that's even with me driving the model y well 10mph above speed limit vs driving at the speed limit for the ioniq 5. Or if you need to do public charging fast charging a lot, non Tesla charging stations are pretty horrible on average whereas Tesla superchargers are very consistent. Build quality, road noise, softer ride all go in favor of ioniq 5 though.
@torus1
@torus1 6 ай бұрын
@@CarsJubilee Long term maintenance and cost of ownership? I'm used to cars lasting 15-20+ years. How's the finish/upholstery holding up? How much does the extra trunk/frunk space really help? Mostly do local driving (and not all that much), probably mostly charging at home. I thought superchargers are supposed to open up to others (including Hyundai), and the 2025 model might even have native NACS. 75-100 mi sounds huge though, and might be an issue for those occasional highway road trips. Would you consider going back (or to something else)? Rooting for the Ioniq 5, although the Juniper MY update may be promising. I know your experience with Hyundai was pretty bad but hopefully your issues are an outlier.

Great video as always. I agree on the battery thing. That is so odd. Good news for me is I would never let it get to 20%. Too OCD. Like it near 80 as much as possible. Bluelink... what a joke. Had my car 2. months. Only worked the 1st 3 days then nothing. Called tech support. Even worse. No return call. Called again and again. Still nothing. Hyundai clearly does not care. I already know about the dealer part. We have a Hyundai Sonata and can't get service there. Waited almost a year to fix an air conditioner.

Yikes about that air conditioning on the sonata, you were brave to jump back into another Hyundai after that haha. Hoping Hyundai changes the 12v programming eventually. I think you are being alittle dramatic about the 12v. I agree their logic is pretty stupid but to say you ‘probably’ won’t be able to restart it if it sits for a few minutes at 19% is just as ridiculous and have to cut in line at EA. If you are that worried about it get an OBD reader to give yourself some peace of mind. We would never leave it overnight under 20% but we do during daily use all the time and have never had an issue…. And carry a battery powered jumper just in case (never used). I think a more fair criticism is that it should let you choose (override) to charge the 12v down to a lower SOC AND battery pre-condition to a lower SOC too. If you really think you can’t turn the car off at 19% without the battery ‘probably’ not staring the car again then you shouldn’t be recommending it to anyone.
@CarsJubilee
@CarsJubilee 10 ай бұрын
There have been other content creators and many other owners that I've talked to that have had it happen. Stories like, parked it for an hour or parked it overnight etc. It may not happen to everyone but there's a possibility that it might and I think that is too much risk. Hyundai set it way too high. Too many owners don't know or don't understand that limitation, even fewer will have the capacity to monitor the 12v constantly via OBD2. Jump pack is a must haha, I do have one and highly recommend everyone to have one. I would still recommend it, with the caveat being don't let it drop below 20% unless you are going directly to charge. And then hope that Hyundai lowers that % limitation.
@timsheehan8713
@timsheehan8713 10 ай бұрын
@@CarsJubilee I agree it could happen, but like I said, it was not “probably” going to happen. And if you are that worried about it you would ask to cut in line at EA at 19% you should have an OBD reader and/or not recommend the car.

I thought you sold your car back? Did you decide to keep it or did Hyundai make you an offer? My annoyances on my 2023 Limited with AWD and 12K miles: 1. Dealership scheduling appointments: Yes they are 8 weeks out for anything EV related, then if it needs parts there is another apt. 2. Trunk rattle: several services, with multiple TSB and it's still there 3. Level 2 charge degradation: My car charged fine for 6 months now it reduces to 7KWH after about 40 minutes. I've taken it to 2 dealers over 4 months and called Hyundai corporate and they have done nothing and offered no path forward. 4. Bluelink and autoupdates with no wifi connectively do not work with little cell connectivity. I agree on the door unlocked can't be deactivated in the garage.

Can you not do climate preheating from the alarm keyfob? With my bolt I just lock it, then hold the circle button for a few seconds and it'll start preheating. I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to apps and stuff, never used the app for my car and don't really plan to. The Ioniq is one of the cars I'm looking at for when/if my Bolt eventually dies or I win the lotto or something. Looks good, AWD, reasonably sized. I thought that 12v battery issue was worse than it is. If it's just when you're under 20% that wouldn't be an issue for me, except for the odd road trip I never let my car go below 30%, and usually keep it under 80. Squeezing as much life out of this new battery as I can. In Denver 3/4 of the Chevy dealerships sucked with electric, then down here in Pueblo there's one great one and one bad one. I haven't had to wait for anything other than the battery recall, but that was waiting on battery availability not service techs. Though I've only taken it in for updates and stuff, no mechanical issues. XP WAS AWESOME! You take that back! :P kidding. Like others said Tesla has been as much a software company as a car one, hyundai et al have to catch up. I like tesla cars alright, but Musk stinks and the company is somehow even worse than the big old automakers.
@CarsJubilee
@CarsJubilee 10 ай бұрын
Hahah I take it back, XP was awesome! Maybe I should have said windows 2000. We can remote start the car with the remote fob which will also turn on the climate system but there's limited range on the fob and you cannot control the actual climate settings. It turns on more than just the climate system so in some ways wasting some energy. Using the app, theoretically I can do it from anywhere, anytime. And pre select the temperature etc. The car remains in the off state, screens/motors etc all off. Only climate system is running, so not wasting energy idling even if it's just minimally. I've heard really great things about the bolt. Was tempted to get one when it was the only ev that qualified for federal tax credits near the end of 2022. Hyundai service for has been bad, hopefully the ones in your area are better. I think it's inevitable that you'll be going for stuff like software updates and other things. I expect it with just how much tech and other things are crammed into these EVs.

I'm from Canada (Québec), 23 month now I have this car, for info, apparently (I'm not sure) we don't have the same blue link application in Canada and not the same satellite? But when I tested it, was way to too slow here too. To the point it is faster to go out to start the car to preheat the car, then go inside to wait like 10-15 mins for ice melting. Then useless blue application exception when it work, it gave me great data info like with my daily driving, 1/3 to 1/4 energy used come from regenerate breaking. Another dislike, I can set preheating times in the car, but look like it's only working when the car is plugged, but even when it plugged, look like limited to only 8 mins (Only time to melts snow, since only 8 mins that transform snow to ice which it's worst) and why I don't use it. Another dislike but it's frequent with EV car, ice and snow on the windshield melt then go down under the wood, then froze again there. Then frequently no more moving wiper that are now stuck in ice. My Subaru had a heating element there to heat the wiper to not have this trouble, not this car and normal petrol car have heat from motor in the front with so much wasted heat that normally melt those ice. Last trouble with this car are the lower front moving flap that get stuck or full of ice in winter, I corrected it by adding a bumper in front of it for the winter and now it's working great since then, now it's the second winter with it.

They are putting regular 12v car batteries in an EV that uses the 12v much much more than a regular ice car. Our EVs wake up every time you walk by the car, every time you check the app etc. The 12v is almost constantly running, plus many cars have phantom 12v drain issues where something really is keeping the 12v running. Way more usage leads to shorter life span. Many many owners have come back to dead 12v batteries.

Are you going to buy the Ioniq5 N next?

With the way things are depreciating right now, probably not haha. Very interested in it but not sure I'm ready to drop around $60k on a Hyundai ev again.

For whatever reason we’ve always been able to get a service appointment within a week of calling. Fortunately we have had very few issues with our Ioniq5. We have the basic SE AWD model so there are fewer things that might go wrong.

Are you in a highly EV saturated area? NY area or somewhere in California? I keep hearing owners there saying it's not too bad. Makes me quite envious haha.

@@CarsJubilee Western Colorado isn’t an area with a particularly high number of EVs. There is only one Hyundai dealership on the entire west side of the state.

@@CarsJubilee no issues here in Canton, Ohio. That is with a dealer that just started selling Ioniq 5 & 6, with as far as I know 1 certified tech. The next closest dealer is 45 minutes away.

Wow maybe the opposite is happening? Very few hyundai EVs in your area to service so one dealership is currently enough?

I'm wondering why you had your car serviced 3 times (or more?!?) in basically the first year of ownership. Seems excessive
@CarsJubilee

Because they weren't successful on the first, second or third time. Feel free to check out the other ioniq 5 videos on my channel, I go in depth for every issue.

@@CarsJubilee I have watched a few others, I thought you mentioned on one going in after less than a month into ownership to service? Is that a standard US thing? Otherwise I've misunderstood. Just send like a lot! :)

Not exactly a US thing but the level of service in the US does seem to be subpar, much worse than others have experienced in Europe for example. Most owners there have reported great servicing.

@@CarsJubileeah OK. I guess that makes sense then! I have seen a lot of USians saying the service across most of the country sucks for Hyundai. Thanks for the info! My car is sat waiting on adaptations then I can pick it up 🤞🏻😁

@TeddieBean ya if you are anywhere outside of the US you will probably have a pretty good servicing experience.

Why didn't he sold the Ioniq 5 yet? He is to spread negative impact in IONIQ5 community. Just don't watch this channel and push dislike button.

Nope, it's gone. Just posting old recorded content. It's a great car, in case you missed that part which I stated in many many videos. No car is perfect, including the ioniq 5. It's important to share issues so others can benefit from it.

@@CarsJubilee Is it gone? Please do not make about Ioniq 5. Please stop caring about your ex-car. And you didnt help Ioniq5 owner. You made Ioniq5 owner's financial loss.
