ASA! I think, when you weigh things up, travelling to Dubai is a 7 hour trip from the UK. We're not talking about the travel of 100's of years ago. As long as you have the money, you can be back in the UK quickly. There are many cities in the world, but Dubai stands near the top, perhaps because of the vision of it's leader. Which UK city can compare...none. London can be a nightmare. They can get caught out so easily with road closures or weather events. Personally, I never felt a peace visiting London. I lived there for a little while too. I miss salatul jummah in the mid east when I'm in the UK. It's a different day. Going early, reading Quran, etc, etc. I think much of this is down to finance. If you have a lot of money, it can solve many problems. I stayed in hotels for months...I kind have hotel phobia now 😅 - having a permanent place may make the difference. Personally, being in walking distance to the masijid is key. Having an active relationship with Allah is the other part. Stay after salatul fajr and read until after sunrise, then pray 2 rakat every so often. Yes, the haris will be shaking his keys at you...but once he knows that's your habbit, he'll leave you aloe. That right there my brother is a different day. I'd move to Dubai just for that and salatul Jummah. I remember a friend from KL visited back in 2000, and said, "UK, great past, but no future". I thought it was a bit harsh. Now I'm seeing that for myself. There's a nice masjid in Al Barsha. They give the khutbah in English after Jummah prayer. Also, they have a lot going on, talks and learning Arabic etc. There are nice group of brothers there (from different places) and the Imam is nice too.

Lol. Lots true except - many masjids in big UK cities - no uncle jis in UAE mosques. Most mosques in GCC Closed outside the 30mins for salah. - No masjid and community events (except maybe ramadhan and Eids) - plenty of halal in big UK cities - less 'woke' madness taught and imbibed to your kids through school and culture (for now)

Just wondering why you chose dubai over qatar/abu dhabi? Is there any particular reasons? Many thanks!

Yeah good Q I've been to Doha twice , and visit Abu Dhabi here and there - both quiet imo It's same reason you would move to London over Manchester or something Dubai has more happening, it's more entertaining, more sociable, more to do From a work perspective the opportunities are so much more. It's the financial and tech hub of the middle east

@@SohaibAshrafthat London and Manchester comparison really highlights it! Thanks for clarifying! If you don't mind me asking, do you see yourself in dubai forever or do you think doha/Abu Dhabi/sharjah are the types of places people should move to when they have kids/get older etc? I'm sure this comes down to personal preference more than anything but would just be interesting hearing from someone whose actually lived in dubai and visited the other 2

I think will stay in dubai just for the reasons i mentioned (or maybe move back to UK) It's a big city with lots of residential areas too, its not just all the burj khalifa aha Dubai is a very family friendly city its not like London where its a good city for young professionals / couples
